Flossie B. Whitney
Flossie Beatrice Whitney, 94, of Dimondale, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002 under the care of Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
Mrs. Whitney was born Oct. 28, 1908 in Adams County, Ind., to William and Sarah (Andrews) Hicks. During her early years, she lived in the Dimondale area with her family. She married Frank Alman Whitney Sr. on Aug. 23, 1929. The Whitneys resided in Lansing for many years while raising their three children; they returned to the Dimondale area after Frank Sr. retired from Oldsmobile. Mrs. Whitney was known for her sense of humor, smile and devotion to her family. She enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting, reading, leather tooling, crossword puzzles, music and watching the wildlife along the river. She was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. Upon retirement, the couple enjoyed wintering in Zephyrhills, Fla., as well as traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Jerrold) Keyworth of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Nancy (Alan) Myers of Bellevue; nephew, Richard (Vicki) Hicks of St. Johns; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and dear friends and neighbors, Carol Perhne and Andy Hall.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Frank Sr.; son, Frank Jr.; and siblings, Lulu (Hicks) Scarlett, Mac Hicks and Osa Hicks. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 18 at Field & Leik Funeral Home in Dimondale, with Pastor Darwin Kuhl of West Carmel Congregational Church officiating. Interment will be at Deepdale Memorial Park in Lansing. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or American Lung Association.
Mariah Kay Whitten
Mariah Kay, Whitten, two weeks and two days old, of Eaton Rapids, died Saturday, May 25, 20002.
Mariah was born May 9, 2002 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Terry Whitten Sr. and Belinda Jaseph.
She is survived by her parents; brother, Brandon, Scott and Terry Jr.; grandmother, Dorothy Whitten of Pennsylvania and grandparents Roger and Scherry Jaseph of Marcellus.
She was preceded in death by grandfather Richard Whitten Sr. and sister Michelle Lynn Whitten.
Private services were held May 28 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holden N.I.C. Unit Mott Children’s & Women’s Hospital at University of Michigan Hospital; envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Doris E. Wickham
Doris Elaine Wickham, 91, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002.
Mrs. Wickham was born Feb. 13, 1911 in Sunfield, the daughter of George and Marion (Hunter) Wirt. She was a bookkeeper for D & L Fuels and also had worked at Wilcox Gay. She had lived at Butternut Apartments for 15 years.
She is survived by daughter, Doris Jeanne Gould of Potterville; three granddaughters, Diane Fielder of Holt, Shirley Maynard of Lansing and Patti (Skeeter) Lehman of Lansing; two great-granddaughters and two great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Wickham; and two daughters, Kathryn and Linda.
Graveside services were held Nov. 13 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte, with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Gladys L. Williams
Gladys Lavonne Williams, 79, of Lansing, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002.
Gladys was born Jan. 12, 1923 in Obion County, Tenn., the daughter of William and Novi (Heathcock) Ring. She enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by a son, Ed (Elaine) Williams of Big Rock, Ill.; granddaughter, Tara of California; two great-grandchildren; and great niece, Julie (C.J.) Van Syckle of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by sister Ophie Perry, brothers Ernest Ring and William Ring, and grandson Tim Williams in 1985.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Ilo R. Williams
Ilo R. Williams, 99, of Eaton Rapids, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at a Lansing hospital.
Ilo was born Sept. 10, 1902 in Rockford, Ohio, the daughter of Orlando and Anna (Hayes) Figley. She moved to Eaton Rapids in 1906 to live with her sister, Bernice. She later met Walter “Peanut” Williams and in 1925 they married. They together owned and operated Williams Farm Machinery in Charlotte and sold it a few years before Walter’s death in 1982. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, cooking and especially family get-togethers. Ilo was a loving aunt, good fiend and will be dearly missed by all.
Preceding her in death were her five brothers, Reber, Dole, Howard, Harold and Ralph Figley; and one sister, Bernice Lambert.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and good friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to close friends that provided love and support to Ilo; Dave and Marilyn Wilson, Gerald and Kim Oberlin, and Jeanie Creyts.
Funeral services were held July 26 at Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Stephen Klink officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Rapids Medical Center or Eaton Rapids Senior Center in memory of Ilo Williams.
James D. Williams
James D. Williams, 40, of Charlotte, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 in Charlotte. Mr. Williams was born Feb. 8, 1961 in Charlotte. He was a graduate of Olivet High School, class of 1979, was employed with UBCR Trucking in Howell, and was an associate with Mid-Michigan Real Estate in Charlotte.
He is survived by daughter, Bethany Ann Williams, age 11, and son, Kyle Ray Williams, age 17, both of Charlotte; mother, Cheryl (Dowell) Williams of Baldwin; brother, Rock (Cathy) Aaron of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and a sister, Kathleen (Mike) Kelly of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Wayne Williams in January 2000.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, or Mobile Meals, Inc., in care of Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte. Arrangements were by Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
Kenneth Park Williams
Kenneth Park Williams, age 63 of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Saturday, July 13, 2002 in Southeast Florida. He was born August 12, 1938 in Battle Creek, the son of Kenneth Park and Lois Geraldine (Guy) Williams Sr. The Williams family moved to Eaton Rapids, where Kenny graduated in 1956. He joined the Navy for 4 years and spent 3 years in Japan as a Communications Specialist. Kenny attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo and worked his way up at General Motors, retiring after 19 years as Executive Financial Director for Cadillac Motor Car Division in Detroit. In 1961 he married Laura Treadway and they had 2 children; Michael Jay who was killed in a car accident at the age of 22 and Nancy Ann who resides in Florida with Jay Wozniak and Kenny’s only grandson, Jacob Michael. In 1986, after he married Joanne Kukla, they moved to Long Beach, CA and had also lived in Houston, TX and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. His later years were spent in the Ft. Lauderdale area where he met his fiancée, Virginia “Ginny” Carletti, and were together for almost 8 years. He was close to her family; sons, William and wife Gina, Michael and wife Donna, daughter, Charlene and four grandsons and three granddaughters. Kenny was an all-around athlete and enjoyed many sports. He was a life long body builder, always focusing on being in shape and he loved music and was an accomplished musician. He was a gentle, caring, hardworking and generous man, who was highly respected. Kenny was a loving companion, father, grandfather and friend. We will always be thankful for our wonderful memories of this fine man.
Surviving are his daughter, Nancy Ann Williams; grandson, Jacob Michael; brother, Theodore G. Williams, M.D. of Laguna Beach, CA; sister, Ellen L. Tyler of Lansing; step-mother, Louis Williams; nieces, Lynette, Heather, Tanya, Beth, and Diane; nephews, Dennis, Eric, Chris, Rick and Mike; great nieces Janelle, Tessa Rose; great nephews, Nathaniel and Michael Lawrence.
There will be [a] graveside service in his memory for family and friends on Saturday, August 10th at 1:00 p.m. at the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids with Mr. Mel Doughty, Campus Minister in West Kentucky, officiating. Arrangements were through the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
Ron Williams
Ronald “Q-Ball” Charles Williams, 47 of Charlotte, died Sunday, December 22, 2002. Mr. Williams was born March 14, 1955, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Bernard and Elsie (Phillips) Williams.
He worked at Oldsmobile and was a member of the UAW. He enjoyed drag racing and had formed Williams Racing Team.
He is survived by his parents Bernard and Elsie Williams, sister Terry (Terry Hansen) Wellman of Charlotte, Jo (Mike) Davis of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, brother Mark (Denise) Williams of Charlotte, one nieces and five nephews, and special kids Chase and Chance.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Interment was in Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet.

Ricky C. Willis
Ricky C. Willis, age 50, died Thursday, November 21, 2002 at his residence. He was born December 29, 1951 in Gladwin. Ricky was an avid bowler and loved resurrecting old tractors and making them run again. He also loved gardening and plating his orchard.
Surviving are his wife of 8 years, Cecelia; son, Richard (Jennifer) Willis of Lansing; stepson, John Hashem of Mt. Clemens; 2 grandchildren, Walker and Amber Willis; parents, Donald and Diane Willis of Eaton Rapids; mother-in-law, Cecelia Karash of Mt. Clemens; 3 sisters, Vicki (Bill) Fears of Eaton Rapids, Becky (Eric) Olger of Potterville, Sandy Willis of Eaton Rapids; 2 nephews; 3 nieces; several special friends; and his dogs that he loved like children, Scooter, Thunder, Victor, Skipper, Boomer, Lobo, TJ, Shyann, Uno, Missy and Pooh.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 25, 2002, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to Eaton Community Hospice in memory of Ricky C. Willis.
