Arlie C. Goforth
Arlie C. Goforth, 80, of Nashville, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002 at Carveth Village in Middleville.
Mrs. Goforth was born May 27, 1921, the daughter of Jack and Lora (Stokes) Reneau in Decator, Tenn. She moved to the Nashville/Hastings area and attended Briggs School, graduating from Hastings High School in 1936. She married Paul Goforth Dec. 17, 1937; he preceded her in death in July 1999 after 62 years of marriage. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters, Delphia (Elgin) Totten, Mary Ann (Wes) Erwin, Lorraine (Lester) Altoft, Kathy (Leo) Hine, Bernice (Dan) Shilling and Brenda (Ron) Armour; sons, Paul (Mary Jo) Goforth Jr., Joe (Gayle) Goforth and Tom Goforth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Goforth Sr.; parents, Jack and Lora Reneau; sister, Ruby Skidmore; brothers, James Reneau, Arundal Reneau and Edward Reneau; step-grandson, John Altoft.
Services were held Jan. 16 at Nashville Baptist Church with Pastor Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment was at Wilcox Cemetery, Maple Grove Township, Barry County.
Memorial donations may be made to Carveth Memorial Gardens or Activity Center or the Nashville Baptist Church Youth Parsonage. Arrangements were by Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville.
Larry Goodenough
Larry Goodenough, 59, passed away Jan. 12, 2002.
Mr. Goodenough was born Aug. 21, 1942 in Lake Odessa, to Howard and Serena (Dillenbeck) Goodenough. He graduated from Vermontville High School in 1961 and served in the United Stated Air Force until he received an honorable discharge in 1963. He worked at AE in Charlotte before moving to Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1976. Mr. Goodenough worked with his brother-in-law installing ground sprinklers and later became a certified welder and pipefitter. He had worked for Band L Plumbing for the past 20 years. He loved photography, the outdoors and fixing things. He found great enjoyment in visiting flea markets to find great bargains.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Juanita; daughter, Lorie Sue Limbaugh of Fountain, Colo.; sons, Christopher of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Bradley of Lansing; stepdaughter, Carolyn Kelly of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and sisters, Gwenith (John) Lewis of Portland, Jackie Hill of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Helen (Bill) Swiger of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Betty Goodenough of Huntsville, Ala; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Serena Goodenough; brother, Louis Goodenough; and stepdaughter, Susan Frederick.
Memorial services were held Jan. 18 at the First Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Blanche Mildred Goodnoe
Blanche M. Goodnoe, age 80 of Eaton Rapids, died Friday, May 24, 2002 at a Lansing hospital. She was born July 10, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Joshua and Mildred (Huttle) Seafort. Mrs. Goodnoe moved to Eaton Rapids to live at the V.F.W. National home in 1928, at the age of 7. She was a graduate of the Eaton Rapids High School, class of 1940. Mrs. Goodnoe owned and operated Blanches Beauty Shop in Eaton Rapids for 10 years. Her hobbies included oil painting, traveling and gardening. Preceding her in death were her parents; 2 brothers, Rev. George and Grant Seafort and sister, Madge King.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, George; 5 children, Nancy (Ralph) Craft, Ronald (Helen) Goodnoe, George (Diane) Goodnoe Jr., Jerry “Butch” Goodnoe all of Eaton Rapids and Lonnie “Bones” Goodnoe of McDoue, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many many close friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, 2002 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Dr. David D’Arcy officiating. Burial followed in the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids.
Charles F. Gordon
Charles Frederick “Fritz” Gordon, 81, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002.
Mr. Gordon was born Jan. 27, 1921 in Winamac, Ind., the son of Charles and Nellie (McCoy) Gordon. He was an electrician for Fisher Body. Prior to moving to Michigan, Mr. Gordon owned and operated Kenton Electric Motors in Kenton, Ohio. He was a member of Kenton First Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge and Lawrence Valley Grange. He was also a Boy Scout leader.
He is survived by daughters, Phyllis (Terry) Southerly of Potterville and Nancy (Michael) Livingston of Eaton Rapids; son, David (Kristine) Gordon of Charlotte; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Andrew) Morton of Richmond, Va., and Lois Bowers of Rochester, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Hesser) in June 1998; and brothers, Robert and Harry.
Funeral services were held April 13 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Chaplain Robert Palmer officiating. Interment was at Benton Township Cemetery in Potterville.
Arthur W. Goudie
Arthur W. Goudie, 79, of Charlotte, formerly a long-time resident of Clare, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital in Charlotte.
Mr. Goudie was born Sept. 11, 1922 in Clare, the son of Philip and Ruth Marie (Archbold) Goudie, and had been a Charlotte resident for one and a half years, coming from Florida. Mr. Goudie was a retired mechanic for Dow Chemical Co., having retired in 1980 after 32 years of service. He was a member of Holt Christian Church and was a World War II Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ethel (Atkinson) Goudie; son, Arthur (Janet) of South Lyon; daughters, Janet (Doug) Orton of Lansing, Nancy (Neil) Brickner of Charlotte, Jill Crane of Davenport, Fla., Jane (Barry) Merritt of Holland, Ohio, and Susan (Tim) McNea of Lansing; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Phil (Janet) of Clare and Alex (Judy) of Lansing. He was preceded in death by a sister Meredith Nuss. Funeral services were held March 15 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Greg Steere officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

L. Marjorie Graham
L. Marjorie Graham, 91, of Eaton Rapids, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, 2002 at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. Graham was born Dec. 8, 1910 in VanWert, Ohio, a daughter of Ernest and Josephine (Conley) Hire. She was a member of the Assembly of Yahweh, a Windsor Township historian and wrote poems for different faith magazines. She was a licensed practical nurse at Ingham T.B. Sanitorium and Eaton Rapids hospital. Her husband, Wilbur Graham, died in 1981.
She is survived by three sons, Samuel (Connie) Graham and Daniel (Joyce) Graham, both of Eaton Rapids, and John (Carolyn) Graham of East Lansing; one daughter, Sarah Bristol of Eaton Rapids; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, William (Dottie) Noone of Glen Ferris, W.Va.
Services were held Feb. 8 at Field & Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale, with her son Samuel Graham of the Assembly of Yahweh officiating. Interment was at Dimondale Cemetery.
Sally A. Graham
Sally A. Graham, 31, of Lansing, died Thursday, March 7, 2002 at her residence.
Miss Graham was born Sept. 28, 1970 in Hastings, the daughter of Harold and Lynda (Carpenter) Hubka.
She is survived by her mother, Lynda Sales; uncles, aunts and cousins; and fiancée, Ryan of Lansing.
She was preceded in death by her daughter and grandparents.
Memorial services were held March 11 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Minister of Gospel Jerry Carpenter officiating.

Esther A. Grant
Esther Arlene Grant, 74, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002.
Mrs. Grant was born May 3, 1928 in Chester Township, the daughter of Donie and Veda (Larabee) Wright. She was a member of Chester Gospel Church and worked at Scheib Industries until she and her husband Ray started Grants Woodshop in 1972, retiring in 1991.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Raymond Grant; son, Paul Grant of Charlotte; daughter, Pam (Nelson) Appelman of Nashville; son, Don (Marcia) Grant of Vermontville and Rob (Wendy) Grant of Vermontville; daughter-in-law, Cindy Grant of Charlotte; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters, Betty (Vern) Gilding of Charlotte, Phyllis (Stanley) Bothwell of Fountain and Patty (Max) Butler of Eaton Rapids; brothers, Wendall (Dema) Wright of Vermontville and Larry (Pattie) Wright of Charlotte; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Ray) Harper of Charlotte, Alice (Paul) Edwards of Grand Ledge and Barbara Wright of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by son, Randy; daughter, Sandy; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and brothers, Carroll, Dewayne and Lester.
Funeral services were held May 24 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Marc Livingston officiating. Interment was at Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte.
