Aaron R. Green
Aaron R. Green, age 37 of Eaton Rapids, died Sunday, August 25, 2002 as a result of an automobile accident. Aaron was born May 18, 1965 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Harold Reuben and JoAnn (Zukowsky) Green. He was employed at Fasco D.C. Motors. Aaron loved all sports and was active in coaching girls’ youth soccer in Eaton Rapids for many years and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Florence McKessy.
Aaron was a loving, caring and “awesome” father to the love of his life, his daughter, Chelsea Green. Also surviving are his father, Reuben Green; mother, JoAnn Green both of Eaton Rapids; brother, Troy (Sandy) Green of Elgin, IL; grandparents, Harold and Mary Green of Bonita Springs, FL; grandfather, Maurice McKessy of Onondaga; aunts, Sharon (Lynn) Brown of Grand Ledge, Carol (Tom) Werner of Monticello, IN, Evelyn (Kim) Livingston of Portland, Sharla (Dick) Hilliard of Onondaga; 1 niece, Lisa; 3 nephews, Alex, Brad, Ryan and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002, 2:00 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Dr. David D’Arcy Pastor of the Eaton Rapids First Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Eaton Rapids Athletic Boosters Club in memory of Aaron Green.
Lulu S. Gregg
Lulu Susie Gregg, 89, of Grand Ledge, formerly of Mulliken, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 19, 2002 at a Lansing hospital.
Mrs. Gregg was born Jan. 30, 1913 in Eaton County, a daughter of George Burton and Cermantha Ann (Bennett) Seavolt. She was a member of the Grand Ledge United Pentecostal Church. She loved people, especially children.
She is survived by daughter, Birta (Garry) Cline of Grand Ledge; 10 grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Lehman, Susie (Marty) Debler, Brad (Karen) Lehman, Greg Lehman, Edward (Tammy) Piercefield Jr., Lisa (Victor) Martinez, Denise, Kathryn and Sky Simpson, and Kevin Cline; 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-granddaughter; many step-children and step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Lois Seavolt of West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Ion Simpson, Maynard Seybold and Frederick Gregg; son, Edwin Simpson, and a baby daughter.
Services were held Feb. 23 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Garry Cline officiating. Interment was as Gresham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marty Debler, Michael Lehman, Victor Martinez, Edward Piercefield Jr., Trever Piercefield and Dennis Watson. Honorary bearers were Travis Debler, Jerald Irish, Brad Lehman, Greg Lehman, Bruce Pratt and Daniel Urdal.
Robert E. Gregory
Robert E. Gregory, 78, of Charlotte, died Monday, April 22, 2002.
Mr. Gregory was born Nov. 18, 1923 in Girard, Kansas, the son of Thomas and Leona (Smith) Gregory. He was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses.
He is survived by daughter, Deborah (Larry) Gretzner of Charlotte; granddaughters, Aimee (Cole) Cain of Lansing, and Sara and Elissa of Charlotte; brother, Thomas Jr.; and sister, Virginia Zuck.
Memorial services were held April 26 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Charlotte.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Barbara J. Grenawalt
Barbara Jean Grenawalt, 66, of Charlotte, died Saturday, April 27, 2002.
Mrs. Grenawalt was born April 28, 1935 in Lansing, the daughter of Marvin Bruce and Mable Imogene (Wiseman) Montgomery. She was a former office manager for the Charlotte Shopping Guide until 1986 when she went to Adtech Plastics Systems Corporation, retiring in 2000.
She is survived by husband, James Grenawalt; daughter, Gina (Rick) Wagner of Constantine; son, Dr. Jeffrey (Rebecca) Russell of Marshall; five grandchildren; stepsons, Mychal (Becky) Grenawalt of East Lansing; stepdaughter, Julie (Todd) Clayton of Cincinnati; three step-grandchildren; brothers, Joe (Flora Mae) Montgomery and Gene (Phyllis) Montgomery, both of Charlotte; and sister, Dorothy (Vern) Swarthout of East Lake.
Funeral services were held April 30 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Patricia Stirling officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
Ann C. Grier
Ann Christine Grier, 54, of Charlotte, died Saturday, March 23, 2002 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mrs. Grier was born Dec. 9, 1947 in Charlotte, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Hemingway) Bartolacci. She was a personnel director for Owens Illinois Glass Plant in Charlotte for 34 years, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Charlotte Women’s Bowling Association.
She is survived by daughter, Amy (Jim) Flowers of Battle Creek; sons, Richard of Cedar Park, Texas, and Robert (Jamie) of Sarasota, Fla.; grandson, Sean Patrick Flowers of Battle Creek; granddaughter, Kathryn Ann Flowers of Battle Creek; mother, Mary Bartolacci of Charlotte; brothers, Jeffry of Tampa, Fla., James (Lou) of Mason, John (Sue) and Joseph (Diana) Bartolacci, both of Charlotte; sisters, Lisa (Jim) Jones of New Port Richey, Fla., Nora (Tony) Bartolacci-Franzini of Tampa, Fla., and Mary Jo (Tim) Bartolacci-Palmer of Indiana; brother-in-law, Mike (Connie) Grier of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Grier on March 1, 2000; son, Jeffery in November 1984; and father, Joseph Bartolacci in August 1996.
A funeral mass was celebrated March 26 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Charlotte, with Rev. Fr. Denis Spitzley officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or Eaton Community Hospice. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Edman T. Grier
Edman T. Grier, 83, of Charlotte, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 after an extended illness.
Mr. Grier was born April 4, 1918 in Carmel Township, Eaton County, the son of Paul and Velma Lenore (Edman) Grier, and was a life-long Carmel Township resident. He was a 1936 graduate of Charlotte High School, a life-long farmer, had been a school bus driver for Charlotte schools, and was a rural mail carrier for the Charlotte Post Office. Mr. Grier was a member of the Charlotte Lions Club, a life member of Charlotte Lodge #120 F. & A.M., a member and past patron of Maple City Chapter #218 OES, and a member of Charlotte Commandery #37, Knight Templar, Grand Chapter RAM of Michigan, the Saladin Shrine Temple and Eaton County Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth (Bryan) Grier; two sisters, Barbara (Joe) Nelson and Julia (Harold) Weaver, both of Charlotte; and nieces and nephews, Linda (David) Rulison, Rosemary (John) Welch, Gloria (Bruce) Griffith, Sandra (Mitch) McGarvey, Katie (Paul) Goudreault, John Nelson, William (Sue) Nelson, Pat (Charles) Rowles and Bradley Anderson.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Donald and James Grier.
Funeral services were held Jan. 23 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment was at Millerburg Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Allen L. Gross
Allen Leo Gross, 85, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at Tendercare South Nursing Home in Lansing after an extended illness.
Mr. Gross was a retired employee of General Motors Institute in Flint with over 30 years of service.
Surviving are his daughters, Nell Marie Bartley of Lansing and Karen Suzanne Rogers of White Lake; son, Bruce (Linda) Gross of Charlotte; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and other family members, friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Pearl (Nix) Gross on June 17, 2002. A small quiet private service was held.
Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Ernest H. Gross
Ernest Howard Gross, 53, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Friday, May 10, 2002 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Gross was born July 4, 1948 in Hastings, the son of Ernest and Caroline (Newman) Gross. He was raised and attended school in Freeport, and served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. Mr. Gross was a trained jeweler and worked at Gilmore’s in Hastings as well as in Florida and Nevada. He owned his own transmission shop in Las Vegas, where he had lived for the past 21 years. He loved hunting, fishing, archery and especially playing pool.
He is survived by his wife, Eryn Gross of Las Vegas, Nev.; son, Ernest Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Diana Lavoie of Alabama; grandchildren, Teresa and Tyler Lavoie of Alabama; stepchildren, Monica and Richard; mother, Caroline Gross of Nashville, Mich.; sister, Shirley Dexter of Nashville, Mich.; and brothers, Gordon of Anaheim, Calif., and James of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest “Bud” Gross in 1998.
Services were held May 16 at Barryville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Susan Trowbridge officiating. Interment was at Barryville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville.
