Orville A. Hyde
Orville Amos Hyde, 76, of Charlotte, formerly of Byron Center, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002.
Mr. Hyde was born Jan. 13, 1926 in Grand Rapids, the son of Stephen and Hattie (Piper) Hyde. He was a laborer for Reynolds Aluminum in Grand Rapids until his retirement in 1981. He served in the Army Air Corps and was an avid model train collector.
He is survived by nieces, Patricia, (Glenn) Briggs of Charlotte and Anita (Rodney) Rodgers of Gwinn; nephews, Michael Hyde of Tulsa, Okla.; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frances Hyde.
Graveside services were held Nov. 1 at Cato Cemetery in Lakeview, with R. Raymond Rossell officiating. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Steven Hyde
Steven Hyde, age 61 of Springport, Michigan, died Thursday, January 10, 2002. Mr. Hyde was born September 27, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Francis and Nancy (Aubrey) Hyde. He was in quality control for Eaton Metal Products and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by sister, Anita (Rodney) Rodgers of Gwinn, Patricia (Glenn) Griggs of Charlotte; brother, Mike (Tiana) Hyde of Tulsa, Oklahoma; special fiend, Teresa Hammond and her daughters Tammy, Tina (Tony) and Shannon of Charlotte; her four grandchildren; Uncle Orville Hyde; Aunt Sheba Haight; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 14, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment was at West Carmel Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Breslin Cancer Center or Eaton Community Hospice.
Naomi L. Ingram
Naomi L. Ingram, 77, of Olivet died Sunday, April 21, 2002.
Mrs. Ingram was born April 7, 1925 in St. Johns, the daughter of Cort and Delia (Simpkins) Wardwell, and lived most of her life in Olivet. She was a 1942 graduate of Olivet High School and a former OES member in Olivet. She was a retired employee of Olivet College and previously had been employed by Recordio Corp. in Charlotte and Beutins Dime Store and Air Way Mfg., both in Olivet.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen (Kathleen) Ingram and Michael (Elizabeth) Ingram, both of Olivet; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Zelma Thorton of Olivet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ingram in 1963, and a son, Larry in 1972.
At Mrs. Ingram’s request, cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Olivet Fire Department Medical First Responders. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Stephen W. Ingram
Stephen W. Ingram, of Olivet, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital in Charlotte.
Mr. Ingram was born Jan. 26, 1950 in Battle Creek, the son of Wayne and Naomi (Wardwell) Ingram and was a life-long Olivet area-resident. He attended Olivet Public Schools and was married to Kathleen Harmon on March 14, 1970. He had been employed for a time operating a portable feed grinder for Cal Tevelde and later worked as a fork life driver for Owens-Illinois Glass in Charlotte, from where he retired in 1975 due to disability resulting from an auto accident. Mr. Ingram was an avid pool player, enjoyed riding dirt bikes and loved fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Candace (Larry) Kelley of Charlotte and Lori Ingram of Olivet; one son, Wayne (Rose) Ingram of Marshall; seven grandchildren; one brother, Michael (Elizabeth) Ingram of Olivet; one sister, Katherine Jeffery of Olivet; and father and mother-in-law, George and Ann Harmon of Olivet.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Ingram in 1963; brother, Larry Ingram in 1972; and mother Naomi Ingram on April 21, 2002.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for family and friends will be held for Stephen and his mother Naomi Ingram on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. at Bosworth Cemetery on Stine Road in Olivet.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Olivet Fire Department Medical First Responders. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Virginia J. Jamros
Virginia Joyce Jamros, 82, of Potterville, died Jan. 4, 2002.
Mrs. Jamros was born Oct. 10, 1919 in Detroit, the daughter of John and Susan (Knight) Treganowan. She retired from the state of Michigan after 17 years as a treasury clerk. Mrs. Jamros was a member of the Potterville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She married Edwin Jamros in 1941.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin; sons, John (Becky) of Potterville and William of Odessa, Texas; daughters, Susan (Daniel) Holcomb of Battle Creek and Judith (Martin) Hannah of Okemos; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Feb. 23 at Potterville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Rebecca Morrison officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the local Salvation Army. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Inc., Charlotte.
Esther E. Janousek
Esther Elizabeth Janousek, 86, of Bellevue, died April 26, 2002 at Heartland Health Care Center in Battle Creek.
Mrs. Janousek was born Oct. 8, 1915 in Ludell, Kansas, the daughter of Mathias and Clara Belle (Rowland) Hafner. She was the youngest of seven children and grew up on various farms in and around Herndon, Kansas. She was 14 when her mother passed away. She married Alfred Janousek on April 11, 1933. They farmed in Herndon, where Nola and Alfred were born. In 1940 they moved to Michigan and bought a farm on Lacey Lake Road, east of Bellevue. Lois and Dennis were born there. Mrs. Janousek was an excellent cook, working in restaurants in Bellevue and Olivet. Alfred retired from Post Cereals in 1970 and the couple then spent their winters in Florida. They sold their farm in 1981 and Alfred passed away in 1983. Mrs. Janousek continued to winter in Florida and live at her son’s home in Bellevue during the summers until she moved to assisted living homes. Mrs. Janousek enjoyed traveling, taking care of her dog Penny, fishing, camping, playing cards and her friends and family.
She is survived by sons, Dennis (Sue) of Bellevue and Alfred (Sally) of Charlotte; daughters, Lois (Dale) Wight of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Nola Jean (Garland) Handley of Battle Creek; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held May 1 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Elaine E. Jarvis
Elaine Ellen Jarvis, 59, of Charlotte, died Monday, June 3, 2002.
She was born June 9, 1942 in Lansing, the daughter of Charles and Irene (Danny) Jarvis.
She is survived by son, Carey (Alexis) Jarvis of Lansing; and brother, Duane Jarvis of Charlotte.
Memorial services were held June 6 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Ricardo Torres officiating.

Lillian Eleanore Jennings
Lillian Eleanore Jennings, age 93 of Eaton Rapids, died Monday, January 21, 2002 at the Martin Luther Memorial Home in Holt. She was born March 22, 1908 in Toledo, Ohio the daughter of Johann and Anna (Hessler) Riehle. Mrs. Jennings and her husband were store owners in Aurelius Center from 1932-1962 and later moved to Eaton Rapids. She was a former Clerk in the Sales Room at Horner Woolen Mills, a member of the First Congregational Church, and a Gray Lady at the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital. Preceding her in death were her husband, Fred; and son, Lawrence “Dutch”.
Surviving are 2 sons, Dr. Edward (Monica) Jennings of Holt and Skip (Ann) Jennings of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 23, 2002 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Burial followed in the Oakwood Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to either the Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church of Portland or the Eaton Rapids Medical Center in memory of Lillian E. Jennings.
