Cecil C. Robinson Sr.
Cecil Clinton Robinson Sr., 90, of Bellevue, died Nov. 3, 2002 at the Laurels of Kent in Lowell.
Mr. Robinson was born July 20, 1912, the son of John and Lola (Dudgeon) Robinson in White Cloud. He worked at Michigan Carton Company as a pressman, retiring in 1977. He married Audrey Krugs; she died in 1978. He married Audrey Wortman in 1980 in Greenville; she survives. Mr. Robinson was a member of the Bellevue Conservation Club and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; son, Cecil Robinson Jr. of Bellevue; step-children, Lucienna (Ronald) Brown of Greenville, Donald (Francis) McCusker of Saranac, Donna Barrett of Ionia and Mary (Roger) Thomas of Saranac; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several step-great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 6 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Pastor Mark Thompson of Bellevue United Methodist Church officiating.

Margery M. Robinson
Margery M. Robinson, 81, of Bellevue, died April 4, 2002 at Eaton Manor in Charlotte.
Mrs. Robinson was born April 20, 1920 in Bellevue, the daughter of George and Hilda (Martens) Griffin. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1937 and from Cleary College in 1938. Mrs. Robinson worked as a bus driver and secretary in the transportation department of Bellevue Public Schools from 1966 to 1986. She married Donald Robinson Nov. 29, 1941 in Bellevue; he died in February 1988. She was a member of Baseline United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a youth fellowship leader. She was also a 4-H leader with the Baseline 4-H. Mrs. Robinson was a member of the Bellevue Historical Society and Eaton County Retired School Personnel. She enjoyed reading, traveling and playing bingo at Burnham Brook.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Jeff) Stanton and granddaughter Christine (John) Klipfer, both of Bellevue.
Services were held April 9 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Pastors Melanie Baker-Streevv and Don Francis officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery.

Richard E. Robinson
Richard E. “Dick” Robinson, age 85 of Northport, died May 8, 2002 at Leelanau Memorial Hospital. He was born July 31, 1916 to Rev. William and Anna Robinson in Middleton. ON September 28, 1941, he married the former Jean Hahn, who preceded him in death in 1998. Dick graduated from Michigan State College and University of Michigan Law School. He served his country honorably as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division during World War II and was awarded the Silver Star for heroism. He continued to serve in the Selective Service and retired as a colonel. Dick practiced law in Eaton Rapids until his election to the 5th Circuit Court in 1967. He served Eaton and Barry Counties as a circuit court judge until his retirement in 1982, when he and Jean moved to Northport.
Dick is survived by one sister, Elizabeth (George) Randall, of Santa Clarita, CA; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Fumcy of Traverse City, Edith Robinson of Hastings and Charlotte Robinson of New York; three children, Ann (William) Hotchkiss of Washington, MI, Patrick Robinson and Linda Robertson of Eaton Rapids, and Jane Ives of Berrien Springs; two grandchildren Peter and Annie Ives of Berrien Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial services was held on Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Trinity UCC of Northport. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity UCC of Northport, Munson Hospice, Northport Friends of the Library or ShareCare, Inc. Arrangements were handled by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
Doris I. Rockwell
Doris Ilene Rockwell, 90, of Charlotte, died Saturday, June 15, 2002.
Mrs. Rockwell was born Feb. 8, 1912 at the family home in Vermontville, the daughter of Herman and Sylvia (Briggs) Gusey. She retired from the state of Michigan Personnel Office in 1975, was a homemaker and assisted on the family farm. Mrs. Rockwell was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Kalamo.
She is survived by son, Elam “Rocky” (Diana) Rockwell; daughter, Audrey (David) Starr; grandchildren, Kevin Rockwell, and Shawn and Damian Starr; and great-grandchildren, Heather and Travis Rockwell, all of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elam in 1982.
Funeral services were held June 18 at Vermontville Bible Church, with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Interment was at Hastings Township Cemetery in Barry County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Helen F. Rockwell
Helen F. Rockwell, 80, of Marshall, died while at her doctor’s office in Kalamazoo on Monday, April 22, 2002.
Mrs. Rockwell was born Dec. 1, 1921 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Rowe) Keith. She graduated from Charlotte High School in 1939. She was married Oct. 12, 1940 in Charlotte at her sister Mildred’s home to Robert Rockwell; he preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1996. Mrs. Rockwell was a homemaker and had worked at Eaton Stamping in Eaton Rapids and the American Discount Store in Marshall. She enjoyed flower gardening, camping, knitting, crocheting and cooking. She was an avid QVC fan and loved her dog Otis as well as reminiscing about times from her childhood with her family. She will be remembered for the care she gave her husband Robert for 17 years, from the time of his stroke until his death, enabling him to enjoy a good quality of life.
She is survived by six daughters, Linda (Albert) Hansen of Bedford, Colleen (Jerry) Greenhoe of Bellevue, Rosemary (Michael) Fuller of Three Rivers, Kathleen (Larry) Masters of Charlotte, Trish (Rick) Hydon of Marshall and Sandy (James Faulkner) Rockwell of Battle Creek; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mildred Adams of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sister Berniece Keith in infancy, and brother Joseph Keith.
Services were held April 25 at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Levy officiating. Interment was at Oakridge Cemetery.

Dorr J. “Bud” Rolfe
Dorr J. “Bud” Rolfe, age 75 of Eaton Rapids, passed away on February 27, 2002 at his home, with his family present, after a long illness. He was born May 6, 1926 in Potterville to Dorr and Vivan (Wright) Rolfe. Bud served and was in 10 battles in the Pacific Theatre. He was married September 20, 1944 to Betty Shiels of Charlotte and they lived in Eaton Rapids all of their married life. He was an Eaton Rapids Fireman, a master mechanic of Fords, car salesman and worked 10 years at the VFW National Home. Mr. Rolfe was a charter life member of the Onondaga VFW Post 6986 and former member of the First Baptist Church in Eaton Rapids. He was preceded in death by his brother, Maynard Rolfe and sister, Nettie Hunt.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Betty; 2 daughters, Cindy (Terry) Smith of Narrow Lake, Trudy (Norman) Cascaddan of Eaton Rapids; son, Aaron (Cassandra) Rolfe of Lowell; 9 grandchildren, Jeff (Kathi) Smith, Jarrod Smith, Timothy Smith, Stacia (Clement) Beckman, Jason (Maggie Collins) Comer, Joshua (Jessica) Comer, Jessica (Jason Hicks) Comer, Erin Nicole and Lyndsy Rolfe; 13 great-grandchildren, Andrea, Derek and Jordan Smith, Amanda, Christine, Stephanie, Tyler and Logan Smith, Lane and Ariel Henderson, Savannah Gibbs, Colin Ryan Comer; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Makenzie Gibbs.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 2, 2002 at the First Baptist Church, Eaton Rapids will Rev. Scott Boles officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the First Baptist Church in memory of Bud Rolfe. Arrangements by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
Jean M. Root
Jean Marie Root, 84, of Charlotte, passed away Jan. 13, 2002 in Charlotte.
Mrs. Root was a retired employee of the state of Michigan, serving with the State Police for several years and also with the School for the Blind. She was a long-time resident of the Delta Mills area and a former member of Delta Mills United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Root was also a former 4-H leader and member of Gresham United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
She is survived by her son, Peter Root of Lasing; daughter, Mary Lou Bignall of Charlotte; four grandchildren, James Root, Merritt (Sherri) Root, Eric (Jan) Bignall and Dena (Troy) Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Meghan Bignall and Bryce Bignall; and one sister, Marian Pearson of Grand Ledge.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, James; and brothers, William and Robert Pearson.
Graveside services were held Jan. 15 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, with Rev. Jeff Bowman officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Gresham United Methodist Fund. Arrangements were by Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge.
Myron S. Root
Myron S. Root, 88, of Mulliken, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Root was born Jan. 8, 1914 in Eaton Rapids, a son of Julius and Cora (Wood) Root. A retired farmer, Mr. Root was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors. His passion was bowling.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Myrtie; one son, James (Betty) Root of Mulliken; two daughters, Judy (Danny) Carpenter of Mulliken and Joyce (Gary) Black of Vermontville; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Arthur (Mary) Root of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Nov. 27 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home in Mulliken, with Pastor Don Woolum of Mulliken United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was at Meadowbrook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael and Mitchel Carpenter, Don Case, Jason Charon, Larry Clark, Ben Hall, David Root and Rick Stank.
