Annette M. Monroe
Annette Marie Monroe, 47, of Charlotte, died Nov. 2, 2002.
Mrs. Monroe was born April 19, 1955 in East Chicago, Indiana. She grew up in Highland, Ind. where she attended Our Lady of Grace grade school. She then moved to Battle Creek in 1967. Mrs. Monroe was the owner of Flowers by Annette in Charlotte and brought a lot of beauty into the lives of many brides, sweethearts, family and friends through her floral artistry. She enjoyed bowling, doing crafts and especially loved her Yorkie, “Radar.”
She is survived by her husband, Mike; one daughter, Krista (Scott) Roberts of Olivet; stepsons, Chris Monroe of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dave Monroe of Pensacola, Fla., and Andy Monroe of Dearborn; grandchildren, Grant Roberts, age 9, and Jenna Roberts, age 8; mother, Anna (Deistler) Wiles of Charlotte; father, Thomas Pouch of Illinois; sister, Laura (Bruce) Jennings of Battle Creek; brother, Russell (Barb) Pouch of Charlotte; sister, Suzanne St. Johns of Jackson; and five nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Nov. 6, 2002 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte, with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. The eulogy was given by Dr. Tom Woodward. Interment was at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mid Michigan Hospice or Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
John Ralph Moore
John Ralph Moore, age 83, of Eaton Rapids, died Monday April 8, 2002 at his residence. He was born October 30, 1918 in Delhi Township the son of Clifford A. and Lena M. (Towers) Moore. John worked at Davidson’s Woolen Mills, enjoyed plowing gardens in the spring and drove his John Deere tractor all around Eaton Rapids. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Albert Gleason.
Surviving are his stepbrother, Willard (Eta) Gleason of Atlanta, MI; aunt, Bertha Pullman; 5 cousins, Wayne (Audrey) Towers, James Towers, Dorothy Doxtader, Ella Bugbee, Elaine Mason and caregivers, Penny and Steve Oberlin.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, 2:00 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Melvin K. Moore
Melvin K. Moore, 88, of Vermontville and Hastings, died Sunday, April 7, 2002.
Mr. Moore was born Oct. 25, 1913 in Gratiot County, the son of Harry and Olive (Price) Moore. He was a millwright for General Motors, working at Oldsmobile Plant 2. He was a member of the UAW Local Union 1618 and attended Vermontville Bible Church. Mr. Moore was active with the Olivet Senior Citizens and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and games.
He is survived by daughters, Joan (Homer) Winegar of Vermontville and Nancy (Bill) Ostergren of Nashville; son, Keith (Martha) Moore of Vermontville; brothers, Alvah Moore and Harry “Duane” Moore of Holt; eight grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Marrison), and sister, Helen Smythe.
Funeral services were held April 11 at Vermontville Bible Church, with Pastor Dan Smith officiating. Interment was at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermontville Bible Church or Maple Valley Memorial Scholarship Fund. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Florence A. Morales
Florence Ann Morales, 70, of Hastings, formerly of Charlotte, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002.
Mrs. Morales was born Oct. 19, 1931 in Charlotte, the daughter of Cleve and Venus (Towe) Harmon.
She is survived by daughter, Rosemary (Roger) Latchaw of Charlotte; sons, Robert (Bonnie) Morales of Saranac, Bert Morales of Hastings and James Morales of California; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Martha (Wayne) Frey and Bessie Morales, both of Charlotte; and brother, Robert (Marie) Harmon of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Morales in 1992.
Graveside services were held Feb. 9 at Millerburg Cemetery, Charlotte, with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Inc., in Charlotte.
James Ward Morris
James Ward Morris, age 87 and life resident of Eaton Rapids, died Wednesday, January 2, 2002. He was born January 26, 1914, the son of Donald L. and Donna M. (Todd) Morris. Mr. Morris retired, after 31, ½ years of service for General Motors, in 1977 and was a member of the U.A.W. Local #652. He enjoyed traveling, was an amateur gemologist who cut and polished stones to make beautiful works of art, and was a member of the Jackson Gem & Mineral Society.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Mary; 4 sons, James (Chris) Morris of Eaton Rapids, Robert (Evelyn) Morris of Grand Ledge, Jack (Diane) Morris of Midland, George (Lynn) Morris of Orlando, FL; 1 daughter, Donna (James) Nail of Marshall; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 6th from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Rapids Medical Center in memory of James W. Morris.
Cathleen D. Murray
Cathleen Diane Murray, 63, of Charlotte, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002.
Ms. Murray was born May 8, 1939 in Charlotte, the daughter of Reynold and Thelma (Wright) Beals. She had been employed by Hayes Green Beach Hospital for 22 years, retiring in June 2000. She is survived by daughters, Cathleen (Bruce) Carmoney of Ionia and Lynn Redfield of Charlotte; son, Alfred (Annie) Murray of Decatur, Miss.; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Shirley (Amos) Ellsworth of Eaton Rapids, Reynold (Joyce) Beals of Florida, Bruce (Elaine) Beals o California, Roger (Yvonne) Beals, Raymond (Mary Ellen) Beals, Stanley (Leetha) Beals and Linda (Ray) Winters, all of Charlotte, Judy (Len) Wisinski of Haslett; and sister-in-law, Beverly (Russell) Beals of Potterville. She was predeceased by her brother Russell Beals, and sister Rosemary Gould. Memorial services were held Dec. 12 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Hugh Burger officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice House of Mid Michigan.
Chad E. Music
Chad Earl Music, 28, of Charlotte, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002 as a result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Music was born May 25, 1973 in Eaton Rapids. His parents are Gabrielle (Jones) LaBelle of Springport and Earl Franklin Music. Mr. Music was a cook at Sharon’s Café in Charlotte and enjoyed kids – most of all his daughter Victoria. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
He is survived by parents, wife, Angie (Culp) Music of Charlotte; daughter, Victoria Bobbi Music; brothers, Tim and David Music; sisters, Erica, Amber and Lauren Abosamra; grandmother, Ila Sommer of Lansing; parents-in-law, Robert and Barbara Culp of Charlotte; brother-in-law, Robbie Culp; sisters-in-law, Shannon Culp and Holly (Bryan) Culp/Stout; nieces, Logan Culp, Madison Music, Brook Giuliani; and nephew, Josh Giuliani.
Funeral services were held Feb. 6 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Marc Livingston officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial donations may be made to a trust fund for his daughter Victoria.
Diane L. Myers
Diane Louise Myers, 54, of Charlotte, died Thursday, July 25, 2002.
Mrs. Myers was born Nov. 19, 1947 in Charlotte, the daughter of Boyd and Jacquelyn (Royston) Welsh.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Michael of Charlotte and Kevin (Barb) of Lansing; daughter, Lori of Charlotte; seven grandchildren and one and a half great-grandchildren; mother, Jacquelyn Welsh of Charlotte; brothers, Gerald Welsh of Lansing and Kenneth Welsh of Charlotte; and sister, Joyce (Dave) Lilly of Charlotte.
Memorial services were held July 31 at Mrs. Myers’ home in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Harold E. Neff
Harold E. Neff, 81, of Charlotte, formerly of Oak City, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Neff was born May 13, 1921 in Lakeland, Fla., the son of Otto and Alice (Shellenbarger) Neff. He had been a Charlotte resident prior to moving to Oak City, Fla., where he was a resident for 17 years. He returned to Charlotte two and a half years ago. Mr. Neff was a skilled tradesman at the Fisher Body Division of General Motors, from where he retired in 1985 after 17 years of service. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and held memberships in the VFW and American Legion posts in both Charlotte and Lakeland, Fla.
Surviving are one son, Terry Neff of Charlotte; one daughter, Joy Neff of Auburndale, Fla.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Graham) Neff in 1984 and daughters, Sally Ann and Susan E. Neff.
At Mr. Neff’s prior request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services were held Nov. 27 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel in Charlotte, with Charles-Jensen officiating.
