Graveside memorial service for Carroll A. Lamie of Nashville were held June 22 at Lakeview Cemetery in Nashville. Arrangements were by Maple Valley Chapel in Nashville.
Pearl C. Latchaw
Pearl C. Latchaw, 104, of Macon, Ga., died April 18, 2002 at Peake Healthcare Center in Macon, Gal., following a brief illness.
Mrs. Latchaw was born Feb. 3, 1898 in Summitville, Ind., the daughter of Roy and Ella (Ritchie) Cunningham. She lived several years in Charlotte with her late son and daughter-in-law, Bernard Dale and Margaret Latchaw, and the last 10 years with her daughter-in-law in Macon, Ga. Mrs. Latchaw was a sales clerk at McMahan Hardware Store in Summitville, Ind. for several years. She had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Summitville and was past worthy matron. She found great pleasure in creating quit tops and crocheting. Mrs. Latchaw was a member of the First Christian Church in Summitville, Ind.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Margaret Latchaw of Macon, Ga.; four grandchildren, Nancy (Phil) Wells of Macon, Ga., Stephen (Mary) Latchaw, Roger (Rosemary) Latchaw and Martin (Sue) Latchaw, all of Charlotte; eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Latchaw in 1951; and son Bernard Dale Latchaw in 1990.
Graveside services were held April 26 at Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville, Ind., with Rev. Nathan Lutterman officiating.

Lucille Lawe
Lucille Law, age 64 of Jackson, passed Thursday, January 17, 2002 at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor. She was born June 4, 1937 in Mud Creek (Hazard County), Kentucky to Lafey & Azel (Johnson) Caudill. She married John Lawe. She was a homemaker most of her life and lived in the Springport and Eaton Rapids area. Lucille enjoyed bingo, helping other and raising several foster children.
She is survived by her mother, Azel Caudill of Albion; 2 daughters, Rena (Jon) Flowers of Eaton Rapids and Cindy Lawe of Jackson; 3 sons, Marcus (Margaret) Lawe of Springport, Craig (Lisa) Lawe of Springport, and Kevin (Imajean) Lawe of Jackson; 7 sisters, Shelby Newsome of Springport, Emma LaRoe, Clotine Caudill, Holean McCullough and Patty Fausz all of Albion, Betty Sue Neufer of Indiana, and Kelly Hartwick of Springport; 2 brothers, Jack and Ron Caudill both of Albion; special friend, Charlie Ackers of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; husband; 3 sons, Richard, Darwin and Keith; brother Don & Ochel Caudill and one grandson, Justin Allen Lawe.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, with Rev. Jack Fugate officiating. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation.
Nina Lee
Nina J. Lee, 61, of Charlotte died June 21. Mrs. Lee was born Sept. 30, 1940 in Harrisburg, Ill., the daughter of Ralph J. and Wilma K. (Reynolds) Abernathy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Gary Lee, Jr. in 1975 and Mark E. Lee in 1996.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gary Lee, daughter Kelly R. Lee of Charlotte, sons Alan D. (Annette) Lee of Nashville, Ralph D. (Kate) Lee of Kalamazoo, seven grandchildren, Jamie, Aaron, Andrea, Dillon, Aaron, Brianna and Brandy, sisters, Debbie (Walt) Ribby of Eaton Rapids, Lisa Wood of Lansing, Lori Keyes (Kevin Frisbie) of Holt, brothers, Sam (Floyce) Abernathy and Rich (Mary) Abernathy, both of Charlotte, Phil (Mary) Abernathy of Illinois, Jeff (Sandy) Jester of Coloma, stepmother Gloria Abernathy of Eaton Rapids, and stepfather Joe Jester of Benton Harbor.
Funeral services were held June 24 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Merle Bradley officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Dorothy L. Lefler
Dorothy L. Lefler of Charlotte, formerly of Midland, age 92, died Dec. 31, 2002.
Ms. Lefler was born July 10, 1908 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Thomas and Laura Briggs. She was a registered nurse, receiving her degree from Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids in 1930. Mrs. Lefler was employed with the Public Health Department of Nursing in Detroit for many years and retired from the Midland County Health Department of Nursing after 20 years of service.
She is survived by step-daughters, Grace Costly, Gladys Fahlsing, Genevine Kohlz and Lucille Lefler (daughter-in-law), all of Midland, and Ila (Neil) Fahlsing of Bismark, N.D.; step-son, Leslie (Linda) Lefler of California; caregiver/niece, Beverly Kane of Charlotte; and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ms. Lefler was preceded in death by husband, Harold Vern Lefler; step-son, Harold Lefler; sisters, Beryl Tucker, Lena Babcock and Mildred Snyder; and brothers, Alvaro, Frank, Roger, Clarence, Cecil, Stanley and Norman Briggs.
Arrangements for cremation were by Estes-Leadley Funeral Home in Lansing and Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte. There will be no service.

Gerald E. Leiby
Gerald E. “Jerry” Leiby, 73, of Charlotte, died Oct. 8, 2002.
Mr. Leiby was born Nov. 27, 1928 in Lansing and was a life-long resident of Lansing and Charlotte. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member and officer of American Legion Post #42 of Charlotte. Mr. Leiby was employed with Feldpausch for many years and enjoyed bowling, golf, and most of all, his grandchildren.
He is survived by four daughters, Theresa (Keith) Windes of Nashville, Michelle (Chris) Peterson of Peoria, Ariz., Jackie Fox of Charlotte and Tammy (Mike) Teceno of Eaton Rapids; three sons, Don (Stacy) of Charlotte, Mark (Rebecca) of Grand Ledge and Robert (Jeri) of Charlotte; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Carl (Betty) Leiby of Florida; sister, Rachel (Bob) McCutcheon of Newberry; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Oct. 11 at Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, with Chris Peterson officiating. Interment was at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Lansing.

Robert A. Leik
Robert A. Leik, 79, of Charlotte, formerly of Sunfield, died Sunday morning, Aug. 25, 2002.
Mr. Leik was born Feb. 28, 1923 in Westphalia Township, a son of John and Mary (Aldredge) Leik. He was a retired TRW (Portland) employee.
He is survived by six children, Donald (Leilani) Leik of Mulliken, Connie Leik, Evelyn Leik and Roberta Leik, all of Charlotte, Sarah Jane (Delbert) Dryer of Vermontville, and Carolyn (Steve) Wilson of Portland; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Ervin (Leona) Leik of Westphalia; two sisters, Louise Hernandez of Lansing and Anna Ponder of Ovid; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary in 1977; second wife, Joyce in 1999; two sisters, Lillian Fernholz and Viola Hale; and three brothers, Elmer, Frederick and Joseph.
Christian Wake service was held Sept. 3 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home in Mulliken, with Rev. Fr. Shamaun officiating. Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 4 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland, with Rev. Fr. Charles Hall as celebrant. Interment was at Danby Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Jeremy, Jonathon, Charles, Dustin, Laura and Jennifer Leik.
Mabel M. Leslie
Mabel M. (Holmes) Leslie, 88, of Olivet, died Sunday, June 16, 2002 at Eaton County Medical Care Facility in Charlotte.
Mrs. Leslie was born Feb. 14, 1914 in East Tawas, the daughter of William and Ellen (Hayes) Holmes, and had been an Olivet-area resident for 66 years. She was retired employee of Olivet College and had attended the Olivet First Assembly of God and Charlotte Assembly of God.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Barnard of Charlotte and W. Roberta Wilson of Bellevue; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Leslie in 1980, and a granddaughter, Lynn Williams in 1985.
Funeral services were held June 20 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment was at Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet.
