Marvin T. Kage
Marvin Thomas Kage, 59, of Charlotte, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002.
Mr. Kage was born Oct. 7, 1943 in Mt. Clemens, the son of Marvin and Flora (Wilbrett) Kage. He married Joyce Carr on July 1, 1988 in Cadillac, and was employed as a construction contractor. He was a member of Pheasants Forever and loved to hunt, fish, the out of doors and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Kage; son, Matthew; his parents of Utica; brothers, Michael Kage of Madison Heights and Mark Kage of Potterville; sister, Myrna (Richard) McLaren of Sunnyvale, Calif., Marlene (Al) Mayo of Utica, and Mary Lee (Ted) Jerzy of Washington, Mich.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Bret McAtee officiating. Following the service there will be a time of reflection and hope in the Community Room of First Baptist Church in Charlotte. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to a fund for Matthew’s education.
Robert Lloyd Keeler
Robert Lloyd Keeler, age 64 of Eaton Rapids, died Thursday, April 18, 2002 at his residence. Robert was born April 9, 1938 in Lansing, the son of Roy “Pa” Edwin and Thelma Grace (Ellis) Keeler. Formerly employed at Sparrow Hospital, he was the owner and operator of Keeler Trading Post II in Eaton Rapids. Bob served in the U.S. Army for 16 years and the National Guard, and was a member of the Bath American Legion. He was a life member of both the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association and the NRA. He was a member of the Three Fires Muzzleloading Club, the Vice President of the Eaton Rapids Conservation Club and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Dorie; 2 sisters, Jean (Dick) Brown of Eaton Rapids, Jo Ann (Bruce) Gage of Albion; niece, Julie Jordon of Eaton Rapids; 2 nephews, David (Violet) Jordan, Bruce (Tobi) Jordan both of Eaton Rapids; 2 step sisters, Linda Caudill of Eaton Rapids, Carol (Melvin) Dryer of AZ; 1 step brother, Gary (Luann) Williams of Eaton Rapids; 2 grandnephews, Adam and Cody Lentz; several step nieces and step nephews; 5 uncles, Howard, Ron (Jean), Chuck (Louise), Van (Aino), and Bob (Erlene) Keeler; and many close friends including Beulah and Ron Norris and Dick and Shirley Robbins. Robert was preceded in death by 2 uncles, Forest and Lewis Keeler.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2002, 6:30 p.m. at the Eaton Rapids Conservation Club. Arrangements by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
Norma J. Kelley
Norma J. Kelley, age 84 of Owosso and formerly of Eaton Rapids, passed away at her home Sunday, April 21, 2002.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date.
Family was counseled by Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Owosso in association with Mowen Funeral Home.
Ila G. Kelsey
Ila Grace (Talbot) Kelsey, 89, of Waterford Estates, Hazel Crest, Ill., died May 24, 2002.
Mrs. Kelsey was a member of Women of the Moose, Elks, Eagles and First Baptist Church of Mattoon.
She is survived by children, Michael (Pam) Kelsey of Powder Springs, Ga., Janice (Dennis) Johnson of Flossmoor, Ill., Karin (Tony) Smith of Aurora, Ohio, and Lowell (Janice) Kelsey of Olympia Fields, Ill.; seven grandchildren; sister, Nora Versaci of Trevose, Pa.; ad numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Graveside services were held May 29 at Resthaven Cemetery in Mattoon, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross or Salvation Army. Arrangements were by Tews Funeral Home, Inc. of Homewood, Ill.
Gladys L. Kenney
Gladys L. Kenney, 87, of Charlotte, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2002.
She is survived by her children, LeRoy (Barbara) Kenney, Paul (Stephanie) Kenney, Mary (David) Montgomery, Ruth (Dennis) Orr, Richard (Charlene) Kenney and Lois Kenney; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elaine Bohjanen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Estes Kenney; brother, Russell Warner; and sister, Mildred Hull.
Funeral services were held April 30 at Riverbend Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, with Pastor David Piell and Pastor Scott Brood officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riverbend Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Ainger Bible Church in Olivet, or Gideons International. Arrangements were by Zaagman Memorial Chapel in Grand Rapids.
Audrey Kerekes
Audrey Jean Kerekes, 65, of Charlotte, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002.
Mrs. Kerekes was born June 19, 1937 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Clare and Doris (Clarke) Swan. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Eaton Rapids, and enjoyed genealogy.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Paul Kerekes; two sons, Steve Kerekes and Mike (Donna) Kerekes, both of Charlotte; daughter, Kelley Smith of Hobe Sound, Fla.; four grandchildren, Christy, Jennifer, Matt and Nathan Yager; “sister” Joyce Swan of South Haven; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Swan in 1999.
Funeral services were held Nov. 11 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Tom Evans officiating. Interment was at Millerburg Cemetery in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Lawrence Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or the First United Methodist Church of Eaton Rapids.
David E. Kunz
David Ernest Kunz, 40, of Charlotte, died Monday, April 22, 2002.
Mr. Kunz was born Feb. 27, 1962 in Livonia, the son of Richard Allen and Patsy (Fonville) Kunz. He was a member of the Wednesday Night Bowling League at Char-Lanes in Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; son, Aaron; daughters, Emily and Elizabeth; mother, Patsy Kunz of Howell; sister, Pamela Baumkratz of Howell; and brother, Roger of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Funeral services were held April 25 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Wade Gillespie officiating.
George R. Kyre
George Ray Kyre, 67, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002.
Mr. Kyre was born Nov. 9, 1934 in Fairmont, W.Va., the son of Galen and Pearl (Smith) Kyre. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was an accountant for Owens-Illinois Glass Division before retiring in 1996. He was an avid fan of West Virginia University sports, and helped Gordon Story keep statistics for local sporting events for the Charlotte Shopping Guide. Mr. Kyre was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church and the Charlotte Country Club. He coached Little League baseball for many years and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (DeWitt) of Charlotte; sons, Mike (Jackie), Jon (Shannon) and Russell, all of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, Jamie Rae, Cassi Ann, Jon-Eric James, Jordan Gabriel, Donald Jacob, Carly Rae, Logan Alexis and Aubrey Victoria; and a brother, Galen Smith (Joann) Kyre of Marysville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, David and Kenneth.
Funeral services were held Jan 8 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
