Lewis L. Fuller
Lewis L. Fuller, 94, of Charlotte, died Sunday morning, Sept. 16, 2001 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital in Charlotte, following a short illness.
Mr. Fuller was born Jan. 29, 1907 in Traverse City, a son of Lewis and Minnie (Schepler) Fuller. He was a life member of Eaton Rapids F & AM #63, a life member of the Elks and a retired employee of Lansing Drop Forge.
He is survived by a granddaughter, Ann Brignole of Colleyville, Texas; three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Boyer of Sunfield; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice in 1984.
Services were held Sept. 19 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Pastor Don Woolum officiating. Masonic rites were conducted by the Eaton Rapids Lodge. Interment was at Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken. Pallbearers were E.J. Bowers, Lewis Fuller, Dewaine Gee, Jim Gee, Robert Gee and Burleigh Wellman.
Arrangements were by Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken.
Ramona A. Fuller
Ramona Alice Fuller, 72, of Olivet, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001.
Mrs. Fuller was born April 28, 1929 in Charlotte, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Tripp) Cooper. She was a “grandma” to just about everyone, and enjoyed baking and cooking.
She is survived by sons, Tim Nelson (Debra) Snow of Olivet, Jerry (Valerie) Snow of Springport and Theodore Snow of Olivet; daughters, Sylvia (Kip) Austin and Alice Snow, both of Battle Creek, and Connie (Daryl) Bryner Jr. of Charlotte; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Agnes Haywood of Lasing; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; son, Chuckie; and a brother, James Cooper.
Memorial services were held Nov. 14 at the Eaton Rapids Assembly of God, with Pastor Sandra Carpenter officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Inc., Charlotte.
Kenneth W. Furlong
Kenneth W. Furlong, 70, of Vermontville, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001 at Pennock Hospital, Hastings.
Mr. Furlong was born May 19, 1931 and graduated from Nashville High School in 1949. He married Virginia LaFleur (Cox) in 1950 and married Sandie Koehler-Fuller in 1970. He served in the Korean War. Ken and Sandie owned Vermontville Hardware for 10 years. He drove a gravel truck, was part owner of Furlong Brothers and K & S Landscaping, and retired to care for a special grandmother. Mr. Furlong enjoyed racing micro midgets, watching Nascar, supporting local softball teams, fishing and “tinkering.” He especially loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Sandie of Vermontville; sons, Ross (Debbie) Furlong of Vermontville, Scott (Jackie) Furlong of Charlotte and Jim (Joyce) Fuller of Charlotte; daughters, Linda (Ron) Hannink of Evart, Cindy Grant/Taylor (Tom) and Teresa (John) Thomas, both of Vermontville and Debbie (Randy) Vandiver of Lansing; step-daughter, Chris Carpenter; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Russ (Irene) Furlong of Nashville and Richard (Caroline) Furlong of Woodland; sister, Mabel (Neil) Wilson of Lake Odessa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Walter Furlong; brother, Danny Furlong; an infant daughter, son-in-law, Randy Grant; nephew, Johney Furlong; and special grandmother, Lilian St. Clair.
Funeral services were held Nov. 15 at Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville, with Rev. Ken Vaught officiating. Interment was at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland.

Bettie Futrell
Bette Futrell, age 80 of Eaton rapids and formerly of Jackson, died Tuesday, December 12, 2000 in Dimondale. She was born April 19, 1920 in Jackson the daughter of Arthur John and Mary Christine (Strohmer) Hann. She was a member of the Eaton Rapids First United Methodist Church, retired from Northlawn Hospital in Jackson and was a member of the Eaton Rapids Camp Meeting Association.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Jack; daughter, Mary Jo (David) Evans of Texas; son, Charles Bert Futrell of Belleville; 4 grandchildren, C.J. Futrell, Wendy Killian, Richard Nicholls, Cheri Bedford and 9 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held January 20, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Eaton Rapids with Pastor Tom Evans officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2001, from 2-4 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the Eaton Rapids Camp Meeting Association or the First United Methodist Church in memory of Bette Futrell.
Mabel N. Gamulis
Mabel N. Gamulis, 94, of Charlotte, formerly of Howard City, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001 in Charlotte after a long illness.
Mrs. Gamulis was born Oct. 18, 1907in Fillmore, Mo., the daughter of Newton and Clara (Taylor) Planalp. She had been a resident of Charlotte for six and a half years, coming from Howard City. She had been employed by Children’s Bureau of Washington, D.C., the California Department of Labor, Continental Baking Co., and Unistrut of Wayne, Mich. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3306 in Howard City and was an avid golfer and bowler.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Kay (William) Schneider of Charlotte and Mary Alice (James) Schmiede of White Lake; and one brother, Everett Planalp of St. Joseph, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Gamulis on June 21, 1995.
Funeral services were held Dec. 31 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial donations may be made to the Eaton County Medical Care Facility Activities Department. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Wilma A. Garity
Wilma A. (Struble, Henry) Garity, 89, of Olivet, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001 at Tendercare of Marshall.
Mrs. Garity was born Jan. 13, 1912 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Dennis and Grace (Hewitt) Struble and had been an Olivet resident since 1950. She was a former Olivet city clerk, retiring from that position in 1977. She was a 1930 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and was a member of Ainger Bible Church.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Nancy) Henry and “Tink” (Shirley) Henry, both of Olivet; one daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Yago of Fowlerville; daughter-in-law, Linda Henry of Olivet; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bea Campbell of Olivet and Thyra Healy of Kalamazoo; one brother, Ray Struble of Battle Creek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Henry in 1965; second husband Carl Garity in 1997, and a son, Gordon Henry on Nov. 5, 2000.
Funeral services were held Dec. 28 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Rev. Scott Brood officiating. Interment was at the Olivet Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Ainger Bible Church or the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Lawrence Roy Garner
Lawrence Roy Garner, 77, of Charlotte died Sunday, March 11, 2001.
Mr. Garner was born May 22, 1923, in South Dakota, the son of Lewis and Lucille (Kindhart) Garner. He was an electrician for 33 and a half years at Oldsmobile and an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Charlotte VFW Post #2406.
He is survived by his wife Waltraud (Wilhelm); daughters Judy (Roy) Bodell and Vicky Davis, both of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Shannon Vecchio, Kimberly Hufnagel, Leslie Hunter, Jodie Bodell, Shawn Davis and Scott Davis; five great grandchildren; brothers, Ray Garner of Charlotte, Lloyd Garner of South Dakota, and John Garner of Illinois; and sisters, Clara Hoover of Arizona and Florence Omer of Florida.
Funeral services were held March 15 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Paul Davis officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post #2406.
Norma L. Gaut
Norma Louise Smith Gaut, 87, of Charlotte, died Saturday, June 23, 2001.
Mrs. Gaut was born April 16, 1914 in Kalamo Township, the daughter of Rue and Hortense (Kelley) Swift. She was a cafeteria worker for Charlotte High School.
She is survived by daughter, Virginia (Wallace) Wollpert of Mulliken; sons, Richard (Anne) Smith of Sacramento, Calif., and Stanley (Judy) Smith of Charlotte; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Wood of Charlotte, Vera Ramsey of Pleasant Lake, Rosemary Perkins of Kalamo, and Sylvia Craun of Vermontville.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Smith; second husband, Phyllip Gaut; and daughter, Shirley Wollpert.
Funeral services were held June 28 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Donald Woolum officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
