Glen E. Gordon
Glen E. “Gene” Gordon, 75, of Mulliken, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, July 14, 2001 at a Jackson hospital following a heart attack.
Mr. Gordon was born Oct. 25, 1925 in Mishawaka, Ind., a son of Gilbert and Nellie (Perkins) Gordon. He was a World War II veteran and graduated from Michigan State University. He was a member of Capital City Church of God, the NRA, and was a Mulliken Village clerk. He retired from the Tri-County Office On Aging.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; four children, Glen G. Gordon of Delton, Therese (Joe Jr.) Stubblefield of Williamston, Dwayne (Martha) Gordon of Charlotte and Angela (Andy) Carr of Mulliken; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Services were held July at Capital City Church of God, Lansing, with Pastor Danny Stoneham officiating. Interment was at Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken.
Arrangements were by Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken.
Lydia B. Gould
Lydia B. (Moccardine) Gould, 29, of Nashville/ Lansing, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001.
Mrs. Gould grew up in the Nashville area and attended Nashville schools. On April 1, 1998 she married Terry Gould in Leslie. She was employed by General Motors in the Oldsmobile plant for the past five years. Mrs. Gould enjoyed cooking and reading. She was known for her big heart, giving personality, loving her children and being very meticulous.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Gould of Mason; children, Stephanie Moreno, Leslie Moreno and Rusty Moccardine; sisters, Tina Moccardine of Nashville and Rebecca Langford of Dewitt/St. Johns; brothers, Bob Thompson and Jimmy Moccardine, both of Nashville; father Jim (Marion) Moccardine of Wisconsin; mother, Lydia (Gary) Harris of Nashville; stepmother, Kimberly Langford of Dewitt; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sept. 29 at the Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. Arrangements were by Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville.
Hazel L. Grable
Hazel L. Grable, 77, of Nashville, died Saturday, May 26, 2001 at Thornapple Manor, Hastings.
Mrs. Grable was born Nov. 24, 1923 in Owosso, the daughter of George and Maurine (Sawyer) Goslow. She was raised in the Owosso area and attended area schools. She married Orrin Grable in 1955 in Battle Creek, and was employed as a waitress at various area restaurants for many years. She enjoyed cooking, and spending time at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Orrin Grable of Nashville; sons, Edward Grable and Kenneth Grable, both of Nashville; daughter, Donna Jean Grable; brother, Leonard (Betty) Goslow of Grand Blanc; fiver grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Russell Goslow.
Services were held May 29 at the Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville, with Pastor Alan Metler officiating. Interment was at West Haven Cemetery, Owosso.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements were by Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville.
Sharrin M. K. Grace
Sharrin M. K. Grace, 55, of Charlotte, died Oct. 3, 2001 at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility in Okemos.
Mrs. Grace was born Dec. 8, 1945 in Cheboygan, the daughter of George and Genevieve (Gendron) Hulla, and had been a long-time resident of Charlotte. She was a graduate of Rochester High School, attended Oakland University, received an associate’s degree from Lansing Community College, and graduated from Michigan State University in 1982. Mrs. Grace was a librarian in the Potterville elementary and middle schools, was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, the Michigan Education Association, and had volunteered at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility.
She is survived by two sons, William Grace of East Lansing and Christopher Grace of Howell; two sisters, Judith (Bud) Spring and Karrie (Robert) Osowski; brother, Robert (Mary) Hulla and her father, George Hulla.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Genevieve in Feb. 2001 and a brother, Ralph Hulla in Oct. 1987.
At Mrs. Grace’s request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, 210 E. Lawrence Ave., Charlotte, with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be in Cheboygan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or U. of M. Medical Center. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Elinore J. Graham
Elinore J. Graham, 83, of Nashville, died Saturday, July 14, 2001 at her home.
Mrs. Graham was born June 2, 1918 in Flint, the daughter of George and Nettie (Ackett) Graham, and was raised in the Nashville area. She attended area schools, graduating in 1936 from Nashville High School. She was married to Wallace Graham in 1937 in Nashville, and was employed as a child care provider in the Nashville area for over 20 years. Mrs. Graham was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, United Methodist Church junior superintendent for the Sunday School Choir, a member of U.M. Women’s Club, and band boosters, and was a Cub Scout leader for many years.
She is survived by three sons, Stewart (Linda) Graham of Ada, Ohio, Steven (Debra) Graham of Nashville and Stanley (Marabeth) Graham of Vermontville; stepdaughters, Amanda (Christopher) Rowland of Smithfield, N.C., and Aimee Knell of Ada, Ohio; a sister, Wilma (Eldon) Day of Nashville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Graham; brothers, Albert Parrott, Clayton Parrott and Forrest Parrott; sister, Villia Marie; and an infant son, Steffan Graham.
Services were held July 17 at Nashville United Methodist Church or the Maple Valley Scholarship Fund. Arrangements were by Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville.
Herald C. Graham
Herald Chester Graham, 84, of Charlotte, died June 22, 2001.
Mr. Graham was born Oct. 14, 1916, in Nashville, Michigan, the son of Seth and Alice (Graves) Graham. He was a machine operator for Motor Wheel and a farmer. He also served in the Air Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Rounds); sons, Darian Graham of Charlotte and Kal (Tiera) Graham of Grand Ledge; daughters, Alicia (Don) Haynes and Terrie (Mike) Ramsey of Lexington, N.C.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a half-sister, Mary Wanda Hamblin of Sparta, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Michelle Marple; brother, Wallace Graham; sister, Cora Teeple; and half-brother, Richard. Funeral services were held June 25 at Bowman officiating. Interment was at Gresham Cemetery, Charlotte. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Inc., Charlotte.
Ruthe M. Green
Ruthe M. Green, 84, of Saginaw, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper.
Mrs. (Stanton) Green was born March 17, 1917 in Bellevue.
She married Franklin Green on March 25, 1938; he preceded her in death. Mrs. Green and her husband were former owners of G.W. Heating for many years.
She was a member of the Bridgeport Country Club, Alamo Country Club and the Charlotte Country Club, where she was an avid golfer. Mrs. Green was a volunteer with Elf Khurafeh Temple and a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Dale) Brooks of Saginaw and Jackie (Robert) Freeman of California; nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Dorothy McLaughlin of Berrien Springs, Kathleen Reed of Battle Creek, Josephine Morse of Charlotte and Clara Squires of Falmouth; and two brothers, Harry Stanton and William Stanton, both of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Vanbocxlaer; and two brothers, Clare and James Stanton.
Per Mrs. Green’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial services were held Dec. 1 at Bridgeport Community Church, Bridgeport, with Rev. Donald Ashmall officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Elf Khurafeh Shriners Children’s Hospital.
Arrangements were by The Deisler Funeral Home, Saginaw.
Brittie L. Greenawalt
Brittie L. Greenawalt, 83, of Bellevue died Feb. 11, 2001 at Battle Creek Health System.
Mrs. Greenawalt was born April 18, 1917 to Byrd and Ilo (Grant) Mathewson in Ada, Ohio. She graduated from Lafayette, Ohio High School. She worked as a physical therapy aide and retired from Southwest Rehabilitation. She also worked part time as an aide in Naples, Florida from 1969 to 1973. She was a member of the Bellevue First Baptist Church, and enjoyed sports, playing cards, reading, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She married Gerald Greenawalt on Sept. 4, 1936; he died in Jan. 1972.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Eugene) Waterbury and Sue (David R.) Campbell of Bellevue; son, Steven (Lucia) Greenawalt of Brighton; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marie Greenawalt of Bellevue.
She was preceded in death her husband, Gerald; daughter, Charlene; and brothers, Nick, Oren, Dana, Park, Phil, and Charles Mathewson.
Services were held Feb. 14 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Francis officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Bellevue.
