Laura D. Little
Laura Dell Little, 94, of Charlotte, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000.
Mrs. Little was born May 13, 1906 in Charlotte, the daughter of George and Nellie (Andrews) Whitaker.
Surviving are one daughter, June Grundstrom of Lansing; three grandchildren, Charles (Jan) Grundstrom, Sandra (Robert) Kirk, and Randy Grundstrom, all of Charlotte; seven great-grandchildren, Margaret (Robert) Holycross of Ann Arbor, Eric Grundstrom of Jackson, Sarah Grundstorm of Charlotte, Angela (Joseph) Martino of Long Island, N.Y., Tia Kirk of Charlotte, Anthony (Courtney) Grundstrom of Charlotte, and Randy (Susan) Grundstrom of Grand Rapids; three great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Connor Grundstrum of Charlotte, and Isabella Martino of Long Island, N.Y.; one sister, Myrtle (James) Hillard of Eaton Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Harold Whitaker.
At Mrs. Little’s request, no services were held. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Betty J. Livingston
Betty Jean Livingston, 70, died Saturday, June 16, 2001 at Mercy Medical Facility in Daphne, Ala.
Mrs. Livingston was a native of Dansville and a resident of Summerdale, Ala.
She is survived by four daughters, Wanda Kay (Steve) Lahr of Duck Lake, Janet Lee Kruskamp of Clare, Dawn Annette (James) Collier of Summerdale, Ala., and April Gay Livingston of Robertsdale, Ala.; four sons, Robert L.V. Livingston of Hastings, Melvin W. (Beth) Gleason of Dansville, Olin Edmund Gleason of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Timothy D. Livingston of Foley, Ala.; two sisters, Martha Garred and Jessie Hollister, both of Jackson; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held June 22 at Center Eaton Cemetery in Charlotte.
Duane Leroy “Doc” Livingston
Duane Leroy “Doc” Livingston, age 72 of Eaton Rapids, died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at a Lansing hospital. He was born December 31, 1928 in Elk Point, South Dakota, one of 10 children born to Leroy Ralph and Daisy Isabell (Scott) Livingston. Duane served in the Army following World War II, and was stationed in Germany during its post war occupation. He retired from the City of Eaton Rapids, working for years as a mechanic. He was a member of the Capital City D.A.V. Post #8 in Lansing and was an avid golfer and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife 52 years, Margaret; son, Michael (Nancy) Livingston and daughter, Diana (Larry) Pearson both of Eaton Rapids; 5 grandchildren, Jon and Wesley Livingston, Christian (Cheryl) Pearson, Carrie and Justin Pearson; 2 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers and 2 sisters; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held January 22, 2001 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Dr. David D’Arcy officiating. Burial followed in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamlin Township. For those desiring, a memorial contribution may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in memory of Duane L. “Doc” Livingston.
Patricia M. Long
Patricia Mae Long, 69, of Bellevue, died April 23, 2001 at Battle Creek Health System.
Patricia was born Dec. 15, 1931 to Richard and Ivah (Heist) Coy in Owosso. She graduated from Durand High School, and worked for United Technologies in Boyne City for 25 years, and for Boulder Park Nursing Home in Charlevoix. She enjoyed her family and friends, knitting and crocheting afghans, and had just begun china painting. She was a member of Burnham Brook.
She is survived by daughters, Lynda (Randy) Busick of Bellevue, and Kendra (Terry) Kennedy of Lansing; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Jeremy and Kaitlin Kennedy and Joshua, Jesse, Kayla and Trisha Busick; her mother, Ivah Fuller of Bellevue; and sisters, Carolyn (Dick) Fournier of Prudenville, and Monta Jean (Stanley) Robertson of Byron.
Services were held April 26 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Rev. Ronald Hackworth officiating. Interment will be at Norwood Township Cemetery, Charlevoix, at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Burnham Brook.

Burniece A. Love
Burniece A. (Day) Love, 83, of Charlotte, died Aug. 17, 2001 at her residence.
Mrs. Love was born April 16, 1918 in Sacramento, Calif., the daughter of Milo and Emma Gladys (Walling) Spencer. She was a librarian for the Charlotte Public Library and an active member of the community. She was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, Northside Mother’s Club, Hayes Green Beach Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Mrs. Love had been a leader in the Scouts, Blue Birds, and Camp Fire Girls.
Surviving are her husband, Werlin; sons, Merlyn LeRoy (Yoko) Day of San Jose, Calif., Randy (Virginia) Day of Charlotte; daughters, Rebecca Day of Manistee, Cindy Eaton (and fiancé, Darrin) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; step-son, David (Elaine) Love of Dafter; and, two step-grandsons and two step-great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by second husband, Merlyn, son, Terry Day, and granddaughter, Dedrea. Funeral services were held Aug. 22 at Pray Funeral Home, with Rev. George Fleming and Arley Nelson officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte. Memorial contributions may be made to Charlotte Public Library or Hayes Green Beach Hospital; envelopes are available at the funeral home. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Ellen I. Love
Ellen I. (Roberts) Love, 87, of Climax, formerly of Bellevue, passed away June 9, 2001 at her home.
Mrs. Love was born May 17, 1914 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Clair Harlan and Lizzie Idumea Roberts. The family moved to Olivet in 1925, where she attended Olivet schools, graduating in 1931. She continued her education at Western State College in Kalamazoo. She married Owen Ely Love on Dec. 31, 1937; her preceded her in death Jan. 6, 1996. Mrs. Love and her husband were farmers near Bellevue, until moving to Climax in 1950, where they continued farming. She was a charter member (50 years) of the Prairie Baptist Church of Scotts, where she served in many positions. She was also active with farming operations. She and Owen traveled with farming groups to other countries to see how they operated their farms.
She is survived by a son, Robert Love of Kalamazoo; daughter, Edith (Darell) Pestrue of Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Pauline Henion of Crofton, Md., and Vera Cronk of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Greta Roberts and a brother, Gerald Roberts.
Services were held June 14 at Langeland Funeral Home, Climax, with Pastor Thomas Harrison officiating. Interment was at Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax.
Linda S. Lovejoy
Linda S. Lovejoy, 50, of Grand Ledge, died June 6, 2001.
Mrs. Lovejoy was born Nov. 29, 1950 in Ft. Worth, Texas, the daughter of Luther and Winnie (Bottoms) Hill.
She is survived by sons, Mickel Carmoney and Brian Carmoney-Shive; daughter, Pam Carmoney; four grandchildren; brothers, James Hill and Donald Hill of Texas, and Wendell Hill of Lansing; and sister, Billie Hughes of Texas. She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Tommy.
Graveside services were held June 11 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermontville, with R. Raymond Rossell officiating. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Inc., Charlotte.
Elsie B. Lubitz
Elsie Bryle Lubitz, 78, of Vermontville, passed away Monday, April 16, 2001 at E.W. Sparrow Hospital, Lansing.
Mrs. Lubitz was born Oct. 27, 1922 in Arlington, Fayette County, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond Howard and Ester Elizabeth (Oaks) Hinch. On Sept. 18, 1939 she married Ervin Arthur Otto Lubitz at the Corliss Lutheran Church, Perham, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. They were married 61 years. Mrs. Lubitz was born in Iowa, moved to Minnesota as a child, married in Minnesota, moved to Lansing in 1939, moved to Sunfield in October 1957, moved to Horsehead Lake, Mecosta in 1986, and moved to Vermontville in 1998. She had various places of employment including Oldsmobile in Lansing, Marigold Restaurant in Sunfield (owned and operated), Welch Hardware in Sunfield, and Hanna’s Locker in Sunfield. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, crafts of all kinds, and especially helping dad in his woodworking shop. She loved to read, bowl, fish, cook for her husband and family, and was always ready and willing to help everyone she could. Her hands were never quiet.
She is survived by her husband, Ervin Arthur Otto Lubitz of Vermontville; four children, Eugene (Jan) Lubitz of Woodland, Janice (Les) Sedore of Grand Ledge, Ervin Jr. (Laurie) Lubitz of Sunfield, and Gary (Chris) Lubitz of Corpus Christi, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and sisters, Donald Hinch, Joseph Hinch and Dorothy Taylor. Graveside services were held April 20 at Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken.
