Ruth M. Williams
Ruth Mary (Patterson) Williams, 86, of Charlotte, died Monday, April 23, 2001 at the Tendercare of Marshall Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Williams was born in Vermontville, the daughter of Jesse and Estella (Ballou) Patterson, and was a lifelong resident of Eaton County. She lived in Charlotte for 60 years and was a 1931 graduate of Charlotte High School. She was a doll collector and was a member of the Doll Club. She was married to Dale Kint Williams on June 29, 1931; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1990.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Joe) Morey of Bellevue; one son, D. Kent (Olga) Williams of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Hollis Patterson of Tavares, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Richard Williams in Feb. 2000; grandson, Danny Williams in 1963; and two brothers, Earl and Russel Patterson.
Funeral services were held April 26 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Rev. Duane Royston officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Francis I. Willison
Frances Ivabell Willison, 83, of Ceresco, died Jan. 6, 2001 at Battle Creek Health System.
Mrs. Willison was born April 10, 1917 to Roary and Margaret (Sly) McLeod in Sturgis. She moved with her family to Battle Creek in 1919, and attended the Beckley School. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the American Legion Hospital, and as a waitress at Imperial and Schuler’s in Marshall. Mrs. Willison also worked at Fish’s O.K. Laundry, and was a member of the AARP. She married Theron Willison on Feb. 27, 1957 in Battle Creek; he died in 1995.
Surviving are sons, Lloyd Drake of Ceresco, Walter Drake of Honaka, Hawaii, Wallace Drake of Bellevue, Dale Drake of Middleville, Edward Drake of Marshall, Robert Drake of Post Falls, Idaho, Charles Drake of Waterford, and Roary Drake of Marshall; daughters, Rosalie Keyes of Battle Creek and Mary Gould of Marshall; sister, Evve Ackley of Perry; half brothers, Jay and Sherman Rugg of Bellevue; half sister, Bessie Fair of Centreville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Delores Green; brothers, Charles and James McLeod; and half brother, Bert Rugg.
Services were held Jan. 9 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Rev. Darwin Kuhl officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.

Marcella I. Brenner Wills
Marcella I. Brenner Wills, of Eaton Rapids, died Friday, March 16, 2001 in Perry, MI to parents, Daniel R. and Ella Josephine (Cole) Higbie. She was a very active member of the Eaton Rapids Church of the Nazarene and held nearly all positions of leadership. Marcella was an avid writer for local newspapers & national magazines and was the owner & operator of Lyle Ramsey Studio on Pennsylvania Ave. in Lansing for many years. She enjoyed creating oil paintings to give to family & friends so they could cherish them forever and her musical abilities included violin, piano, organ and signing. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Burlew and her second husband, Walter Brenner.
Surviving are her 2 daughters, Judith (Jack) Morgan of Eaton Rapids and Nancy Allison of Owosso; 2 sons, Norman (Ruth) Burlew of Harrison and Larry (Linda) Burlew of Carbondale, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, Brenda (Scott) Sandwisch. Heather (Glenn) Fuller, Chris (Karen) Morgan, Matthew (Tri) Morgan, Kevin Newman, Brian (Christa) Burlew; and 1 brother, Robert (Ruth) Higbie of Eaton Rapids.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at the Church of the Nazarene, 2225 S. Michigan Road, Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Allen Cobb officiating. Interment will follow at Munger Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the Church of the Nazarene in memory of Marcella Wills.
Reverend Laurence O. Wilson
From his home in Bellevue, Rev. Laurence Wilson (age 64) went to be with his Lord Friday, February 9, 2001. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on March 5, 1936, the son of Laurence K. and Ihlene (Orris) Wilson. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1954 and later attended Michigan State University and North Central Univesrity in Minneapolis, MN. He served four years in the United States Navy from January of 1956 to December of 1959. He was Licensed and Ordained as an Assemblies of God minister from 1962- 2001. Rev. Wilson pastured in Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky. He also served as administrator of Wilson Homes, Inc. (Adult assisted living facilities), since 1978. He was married to Roberta Leslie of Olivet, MI on April 18, 1959.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Katherine D. (Wilbert) Slone of Bellevue, and four sons, David L. (Cathy) Wilson of Orange, TX, Jonathan L. (Kimberly) Wilson of Waterford, MI, Mark D. and Matthew J. Wilson of Bellevue; three granddaughters and four grandsons.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at the Charlotte Assembly of God Church at I-69 and M-50. Rev. David Williams of Mount Hope Church, Lansing, will be officiating. Burial will be at Kalamo Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Homes, Inc., a non-profit corporation providing care to dependent adults. Funeral arrangements were made by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Sharon K. Windon
Sharon Kay Windon, 59, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.
Mrs. Windon was born Dec. 21, 1941 in Bellevue, the daughter of Henry and Celia (Bundy) Kilgore. She was a retired docket clerk at the Social Security Administration Office of Hearing and Appeals in Lansing.
She is survived by husband, Stuart Windon; daughter, Penny Burt of Charlotte and Sharl (Steve) Aston of Bellevue; grandchildren, David (Cynthia) Pritchard, Alisha Pritchard and Tommy Potter, Faith Prichard and Joe Barrette, Megan Aston and Corrina (Caleb) Westfall; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brandy Pritchard, Aaron Potter, Aysa Marie Milbourn and Caleb Richard Westfall; sister, Faye (Lyle) Siegrist of Middleville and Helen (James) Rogers of Battle Creek; brothers, Thomas (Tillie) Kilgore of Vermontville and James (Kathleen) Kilgore of Battle Creek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Jason Henry and Steven Eugene; three brothers, Clarence, Richard and Eston Kilgore; and sister, Betty Starkwater.
Funeral services were held Dec. 14 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Don Francis officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Inc., Charlotte.
Hazel Winegar
Hazel (Liggett) Harris Winegar, 97, of Olivet died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Tendercare of Marshall Nursing Home after being in poor health for several years.
Mrs. Winegar was born Dec. 23, 1903, in Kirkwood, Ill., the daughter of David and Anna (Tarbor) Liggett and moved with her parents to Michigan in 1916. She had been a resident of Olivet since that time.
She was married to her first husband, Russell Harris, in 1929. He passed away in May of 1948. They were the parents of four children, Audrey, James, Irma and Ivan. She married Carl Winegar in 1950. He passed away in November of 1988. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Harris. She had worked for Olivet College, retiring in 1969.
She is survived by daughters Audrey Randall of Mason, and Irma (John) Miller of Shelton, Wash.; son, Ivan (Janet) Harris of Olivet; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Margaret Harris of Olivet; and a brother, John (Lillian) Liggett of Olivet.
Funeral services were held March 1 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment was in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Virginia L. Wonser
Virginia Louise Wonser, 82, of Charlotte, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001.
Mrs. Wonser was born March 2, 1919 in Eaton County , the daughter of Earl and Myrta (King) Cole. She was a line worker for Aluminum Extrusions/Hoover for 25 years before she retired in 1981. She was a member and treasurer of the Capital Area Knitting Club and the Charlotte Senior Center.
She is survived by daughter, Janice Wonser of Charlotte; brother, Maurice Cole of Charlotte; granddaughters, Diana (David) Diamond and Anne Collins; and five great-grandchidlren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wonser in 1993, and a brother, Robert Cole.
Graveside services were held Oct. 10 at Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken, with Rev. George Fleming officaitnig.
Memorail contributions may be made to Sparrow Foundation Hospice. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Inc., Charlotte.
Esther E. Worrall-Johnson
Esther E. Worrall-Johnson, 82, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Potterville, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001.
Mrs. Johnson was born May 4, 1918 in Wauseon, Ohio, the daughter of Frederich and Rachel Edna (Ketring) Vermett. She was a homemaker and farmer.
Surviving are a daughter, Diana Cranston of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Jane Brock of Howell, Jean Koos of Charlotte, Jeffery Worrall of Lansing, Wade Cranston andPEggy Cranston of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Idabelle Hurst of California. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Enos Worrall; and second husband of three years, Guy Johnson; and son, Dale Worrall. Services were held Jan. 19 at Deepdale Memorail Gardens, Lansing, with Dr. Charles Moore officiating.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
