Homer D. Miller
Homer D. Miller, 78, of Cheboygan, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001 at his home.
Mr. Miller was born May 30, 1923 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Howard and Hazel (Raines) Miller. He grew up in Eaton Rapids and attended Eaton Rapids Public Schools. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater. On Sept. 16,1946 he married Maxine Frank in Eaton Rapids. The couple made their home in the Charlotte area. Mr. Miller had been employed at the Aluminum Extrusion Co. in Charlotte for 17 years. In 1966 the Miller family moved to Wolverine. Mr. Miller retired in 1988 as a foreman at Van’s Manufacturing in Vanderbilt. He and his wife continued to make their home in Wolverine until 1997 when they moved to Cheboygan. Mr. Miller loved spending time with his grandchildren. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the fiddle, and hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Wolverine Congregational Church, a life member of the Cochran- Roberts VFW Post in Indian River, a member of the Robert Vrooman American Legion Post in Wolverine, and a member of the W.A.R.P.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; daughters, Donna (Dennis) Wells of Charlotte, Linda Babcock of Wolverine, Sharon (Frank) Peters of Lexington, Mo., Patricia (Cliff) Peters, and Anna (Ken) Billings, all of Wolverine; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Sternaman of Charlotte and Maxine Johanson of Milford.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dan Babcock, and a brother, Herbert Miller.
Funeral services were held Aug. 16 at Lintz Funeral Home, Indian River, with Rev. Leroy Sutfin officiating. Interment was at Sliver Lake Cemetery, Wolverine.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wolverine Congregational Church or the Hospice of the Straits. Arrangements were by Lintz Funeral Home, Indian River.
Lynn Miller
Lynn “Bud” Miller, 83, of Eaton Rapids, died June 3, 2001.
Mr. Miller was born April 24, 1918 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Gordon and Hazel (Oberlin) Miller.
He is survived by a daughter, Jean Riley of Killeen, Texas; sons, Douglas (Sara) Miller of Covington, Ga., and Richard Miller of Rockledge, Fla.; stepdaughter, Betty Wainright of Charlotte; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine in January 2000.
Funeral services were held June 8 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Inc., Charlotte.
Norma Miller
Norma Miller, 86, of Charlotte, formerly of Olivet, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000 at Eaton County Medical Care Facility, Charlotte.
Mrs. Miller was born May 23, 1914 in Jennings, the daughter of Herman and Flossie (Dennis) Peterson.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Bartlett of Charlotte; sons, Roger (Eloise) of Springport, Dennis (Joan) of Charlotte, and Lavon of Havlock, N.C.; 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1992, daughter Marcia in 1988, and great-grandson, Dennis Miller.
Funeral services were held Jan. 3 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment was at Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County Medical Care Facility.
Bonnie M. Ohm
Bonnie Mae (King) Ohm, 59, of Nashville, die June 7, 2001 in Kalamazoo.
Mrs. Ohm was born April 22, 1942 in Charlotte, the daughter of Ward Beecher and Gladys Irene (Disbrow) King. She was an underwriter for Century Mutual Insurance and an underwriter trainer for Auto Owners Insurance Company. She was a graduate of Vermontville High School, class of 1960, and served as class secretary and active alumnus.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; two sons, Kevin Ohm of Kalamazoo and Aaron Ohm of Nashville; and sister, Diane (Bob) Stoddard of Kalamazoo.
Funeral services were held June 11 at First Baptist Church, Charlotte, with Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Inc., Charlotte.
Alton R. Olmstead
Alton R. Olmstead, 90, of Charlotte, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001.
Mr. Olmstead was born June 1, 1911 in Bellevue, the son of Leo and Effie (Dibble) Olmstead. He grew up in the Assyria area and lived with his aunt and uncle, Helen and Frank Rodeman. He worked at Wilcox Gay and was a Pinkerton security guard at Owen Illinois. He was a member of Crossroads Church of the United Brethren for over 50 years, and especially enjoyed hunting with the rest of his family.
He is survived by son, Kenneth (Marie) Olmstead of Burbank, Calif.; daughters, Mary (Stephen) Crandell-Hundt and Suzanne (William) Brenton, both of Charlotte, and Evelyn Chapman of East Leroy; grandchildren, Daniel (Tammy) Crandell, Randy (Sherrie) Crandell and Angie (Rick) Tate, all of Charlotte, Debbie (Max) Collin of Grand Rapids, Cherie (Ken) Betke and Marvin Chapman, both of Battle Creek, Denise (John) Chapman of Owosso, Michelle (Steve) Lance of Palmdale, Calif., Annette (Alan) Baxter of Oregon, Tammy (Matt) McMearty of Texas, Melissa (John) Mater of Nashville, Bill (Syna) Brenton of New York City and Melinda Brenton of Ann Arbor; sister, Opal Olmstead of Lansing; half-sister, Betty Lou Hutchings of Bolivar, Mo.; 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ruth (Turner) in June 2000; two sons, Cecil and John Olmstead; sons-in-law, Darrell Crandell and Lawrence Chapman; and sisters, Lucille Spacth and Margaret Dibble.
Funeral services were held Oct. 9 at Crossroads Church of the United Brethren, Charlotte, with Pastor Michael Arnold officiating. Interment was at Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.

Roy H. Olson
Roy H. Olson, of Escanaba, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for veterans in Marquette.
Delta Co. Veteran’s Memorial services were held Aug. 25 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Escanaba. Funeral services followed at the funeral home, with Rev. Bo Lange officiating. Arrangements were by Anderson Funeral Home, Escanaba.
Billie J. Osborne
Billie J. Osborne, 71, of Charlotte, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001 at the Eaton County medical Care Facility after a long illness.
Billie was born in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Willie and Olive (Bramhall) Osborne, and was a longtime Charlotte resident. He was a graduate of Charlotte High School and served in the U.S. Army Paratroopers during the Korean War. He was one of the original employees of the Aluminum Extrusions Division of Hoover Group, from where he retired after 40 years of service.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Nona (Parr) Osborne; three daughters, Terresa Ann (Jeff) Dickerson of Bonita Shores, Fla., Justina Kaye (Jack) Caughey, and Tamara Jo Osborne, both of Charlotte; six grandchildren; one sister, Cecelia (William) Lundeen of Charlotte; and his mother, olive Osborne of Grand Ledge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Osborne, and two brothers, Jack and Jerry Osborne.
Memorial services were held on Feb. 1 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Rev. George Fleming officiating.
