Nancy Hankins
Nancy Marie Hankins, 52, of Eaton Township, died Oct. 1, 1999 at Tendercare West Nursing Home, Delta Township.
Miss Hankins had attended Trinity Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by one sister, Judy Shanes of Jackson; two brothers, Thomas (Susan) Hankins, with whom she lived for many years, and Larry (Sharon) Hankins of Jackson; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Services were Oct. 5 at Nichols-Arthur Funeral Home, Michigan Center, with Pastor Keith Hinton officiating. Interment was in the Roseland Memorial Gardens, Jackson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton County Special Olympics.
Idabelle Hawkins
Idabelle Marie Hawkins, 82, of Grand Ledge died Nov. 28, 1999 at Tendercare West.
Mrs. Hawkins was born July 22, 1917 in Nashville, the daughter of Martin and Estelle (Bassett) Graham. She married Elwood Raymond Hawkins on Feb. 27, 1940.
She is survived by her husband, Elwood; one daughter, Gloria McCoy; one grandson, Patrick McCoy and his wife Tina and her sons, Daryl and Travis Wilhelm; and many nieces and nephews, loving friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Dorothy (Graham) Lane; and three brothers, Albert, George, and Ronald.
Services were Dec. 1 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield. Interment was in the Sunfield Cemetery.
Lydia Hawkins
Lydia M. (Beyer) Hawkins, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999 in Lansing. Lydia was born Aug. 11, 1909 in East Jordan, the daughter of Richard R. M. and Anna (McKinnon) Beyer. She was a former member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sault Ste Marie and currently a member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eaton Rapids. Mrs. Hawkins was a school teacher mostly in the Chippewa and Mackinaw Counties.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Louise (Lonzo) Starling of Lawtey, FL., Joanne (LeRoy) Benttine of St. Ansgar, IA, and Nina (Eric) Olsen of Charlotte; 3 sons, Richard (Doreen) Hawkins of Phoenix, AZ, Leonard (Margaret) Hawkins of Quincy, FL, and Glenn (Crystal) Hawkins of Jackson; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, John (Clara) Beyer of Somerset Center and Herman (Betty) Beyer of Petoskey; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Enoch, in 1974; grandson, Dennis Benttine in 1996; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 5, 1999 at the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eaton Rapids.
Robert Hawkins
Robert Hawkins, 74, of Eaton Rapids, died May 30, 1999 at his residence.
Mr. Hawkins was born Feb. 28, 1925 in Lansing, the son of Harry and Emma (Gainer) Hawkins. He was a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School, and served 20 years with the Michigan National Guard 119th Field Artillery. He retired as a mill wright in 1987 after serving 38 years at Oldsmobile, Lansing. He was a member of Brookfield F&AM Lodge #439.
He is survived by his wife, Mariella; four daughters, Tyfanie (Sherm) Garity, Janita (Tom) Terwilliger, Pamela Goodfellow and Tamara (Dan) Bogart; one son, Douglas (Connie) Goodfellow; 12 grandchildren, Anthony, Jessica, Jennifer, and Kristin Fajnor, Jason and Jordan Wicker, Nathan, Mathew, Aaron, Rebecca, Miriam and Timothy Goodfellow; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremy Fajnor.
Services were June 3 at the Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with the Rev. Dale Sawyer officiating. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Virginia Hayes
Virginia Hayes, 70, of Bellevue, died March 13, 1999.
Mrs. Hayes was born Feb. 1, 1929 in Charlotte, the daughter of Claude and Lucy (Huffman) Redfield.
She is survived by one daughter, Jodi (Douglas) Rodebaugh of Lansing; four sons, Gerald (Margaret) Hayes, Randi (Kay) Hayes, and Denny (Roxanne) Hayes, all of Olivet, and Frederick Hayes of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Gerald “Jerry”, in 1996.
Services were March 16 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Duane Royston officiating. Interment was in the Benton Township Cemetery.
Lawrence Heinze
Lawrence L. Heinze, 48, formerly of Potterville, died April 8, 1999 in Shelby.
Mr. Heinze was born July 29, 1950 in Charlotte, the son of John and Grace (Crane) Heinze. He grew up in Potterville and attended the Potterville schools. After high school graduation he joined the Army and his tour of duty was in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Reva; two sons, Kenneth and Joey, all of Mancelona; one sister, Linda (Charles) Grimwood of Charlotte; three aunts, Iva Heinze of Potterville, Ida Pettit of Lansing, and Jesse Chapman of Grand Ledge; one niece, five nephews and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carol.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service was held at the Mancelona Church of the Nazarene April 24.
Marian Heisler
Marian (Miller) Heisler, 75, of Olivet died Aug. 17, 1999 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Heisler was born in Marshall, the daughter of Harry and Esther (Rapp) Miller and was a lifelong Calhoun County resident. She was a graduate of Olivet High School, former member of the Olivet Rebekahs, and had been employed by the Woodland Metal Co., Fabricators and Trim Parts Co., all in Marshall. She retired in 1985. She enjoyed bowling and needlecraft.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald; two sons, Fred (Dee) Heisler of Olivet and Leroy (and former wife Cheryl Whitehead) of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Sherrie Case, Michael Heisler, Tammy Heisler, Brian Heisler, Brett Heisler, Loretta Heisler, Anthony Heisler, Melissa Kind and Tiffany Whitehead; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Case, Kayti Case, Andre McCormack, Amanda McCormack; Ethan King and Devin King; one brother, LaVern Miller of Battle Creek; six sisters, Dorothy (Don) Stults of Marshall, Mary Lou (Richard) Duckham of Marshall, Shirley (Jack) Lawler of Coldwater, Mildred (David) Foote of Tekonsha, Darlene Coats of Olivet and Sandra (Merlyn) Place of Olivet.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Julia Heisler in 1944; one sister, Betty Faulkner; and two brothers, Bill and Robert Miller.
Services were Aug. 20 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Pastor Winford Collins officiating. Interment was in the Lee Center Cemetery.

Edward F. Hendy
Edward F. Hendy, age 83, of Eaton Rapids died Monday, August 30, 1999 at a Lansing hospital. He was born April 6, 1916 in Lansing, the son of John Edgar and Maggie (Picton) Hendy. Mr. Hendy served with the 153rd Field Artillery of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired salesman for Capitol Wholesale in Lansing. Preceding him in death were a brother, Thomas Hendy and sister, Elsie Stimson.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol Hendy of Eaton Rapids; granddaughter, Brenda (Ray) Bergez of St. Petersburg, Florida; great-grandson, Alex Hutchings; sister, Margaret Kruse ; 2 brothers, George (Betty) Hendy and Kenneth (Betty) Hendy; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 3rd from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in memory of Edward F. Hendy.
