Donald Miller
Donald G. Miller, 68, of Olivet, formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Jan. 10, 1999 at a Lansing hospital.
Mr. Miller was born Feb. 19, 1930 in Lansing, the son of Floyd and Mable (Miller) Miller. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Eaton County Road Commission and an Air Force Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Ackley) of Olivet; three daughters, Patti (John) Ostrowski and Brenda (Neal) Dahlem both of Olivet and Jill (Ben) Vincent of Charlotte; two sons, Darcy (Denise) Miller of Olivet and Steven (Ruth) Miller of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Virginia (Bob) Fockler of Lansing; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Merle and Jean Corbin of Delton.
Cremation has taken place. Interment of the ashes will be in the spring at the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet. Arrangements were made by the Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.

Linda Miller
Linda Darlee (Holdcraft) Miller, 51, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Olivet, died Dec. 14, 1998.
Mrs. Miller was born July 24, 1947. She loved to cook, dance, and enjoy life and her family. She bartended at the American Legion in Fort Myers Beach and was a kind and caring person and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by three daughters, Dena (Skip) Shaw of Olivet, Michelle (Mike) Lee, and Kara (David) Chase, both of Fort Myers; one grandson, Cameron Evan Shaw; her mother, Inez Smiley of Muncie, Ind.; three sisters, Judy Ann (Randy) Pegg, Judy Lynn (Mike) McBeth, both of Albany, Ind., and Ronda Moreno of Muncie, Ind.; five nieces and nephews; and her little dog, Ginger.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin “Jake” Smiley in 1991, and her husband, Orville Miller, in 1996.
Services were held at the American Legion, Fort Myers Beach. Assistance with memorial services may be made in care of American Legion Post #247, P.O. Box 2456, Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. 33932 to the attention of Kara Chase.
Murl Miller
Murl Miller, 59, of Charlotte, died April 18, 1999. Mr. Miller was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Charlotte, the son of Dudley and Feleniece (Wood) Miller.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and woodworker, and owned and operated Millers Auto, Bait and Tackle for several years and was employed by Johnson Lumber.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; three sons, Murl Jr. (Krisann) Miller and Kenneth Miller of Charlotte, Brian Miller of Potterville; daughter, Mistelle (Kelly) Hollister of Olivet; five grandchildren; mother, Feleniece Miller of Charlotte; brother, Spike (Jody) Miller of Charlotte; four sisters, Karlene Spencer of Indiana, Julene (Clarence) Humprey and Leora (Michael) Doty of Charlotte, Cindy (Bill) Russell of Springport; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Sue Ann, in October 1971, and father Dudley Miller in March 1990.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Arnold officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family or the March of Dimes.

John Mishler
John Henry Mishler, 80, of Ruskin, Fla., formerly of the Charlotte area, died Oct. 25, 1999.
Mr. Mishler was born May 17, 1919, in Lansing. He lived in Ruskin, Fla. for the last 22 years. He graduated from Potterville High School, joined the armed forces during World War II, and retired from Fisher Body, Lansing. He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Coral; three children, Linda (Paul) Sadler of Olivet, Kenneth (Suzanne) Mishler of Dimondale, Larry (Sandra) Mishler of Gladwin; three sisters, Enid Geisenhaver of Potterville, Nora Adams of Fla., and Marian Pfiester of Williamston; two brothers, Karl Mishler of Fla., Harold Mishler of Kalamazoo; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon and Berenice Mishler, and three brothers, Neil Mishler, Phillip Mishler, and Theron Mishler.
Memorial services were held Oct. 30 at The First Presbyterian Church, Dimondale. Cremation took place in Florida.

William “Bill” Mishler
William N. Mishler, 73, of Charlotte died March 10, 1999 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte.
Mr. Mishler was born in Lansing, the son of Melvin and Clara (Renner) Mishler and had been a Charlotte resident for 46 years, coming from Potterville. He was a graduate of Potterville High School, served in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, was a life member of Maple City VFW Post #2406, member of the First Lutheran Church, Charlotte, and served on the Eaton Township Board of Review. He had been employed as general sales manager for Fowler’s, Inc. in Charlotte, retiring in 1986 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat (Osborn); three daughters, Billie Jean (Ron) Taylor of Hastings, Pamela (Tom) Tangi of Alliance, Ohio, and Penny (James) Shaull of Charlotte; one son, Dennis (Thais) of Brighton; five granddaughters, Mara Mishler, Haley Shaull, Hannah Tangi, and Mistye and Jessica Taylor; six grandsons, Joel and Michael Mishler, Jason Beeler, Nicholas Taylor, Tyler Shaull and Addison Tangi; two sisters, Vera Heinze of Potterville and Nan (Charles) Lane of Nashville; two brothers, Don (Joyce) of Potterville and Duane (Margy) Mishler; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Services are tomorrow, Monday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Pastor Gerhardt Doroh officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Earle Mitchell
Earle “Mitch” Mitchell, 78, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away March 30, 1999. He was a former resident of Portland and Lansing. He was the owner of Mitchell Motor Sales in Portland from 1958 to 1969 and worked for Bud Kouts in Lansing.
Surviving is his wife, Brenda of Zephyrhills, Fla.; 5 children, Kathleen Mitchell of Lansing, Gordon (Melanie) Mitchell of Waterford, Carol (William) Brown of Sunfield, William (Carol) Mitchell of Charlotte, and Robert (Kacia) Mitchell of Kent, WA; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be on Saturday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ at 421 Bridge Street, Portland.
Contributions can be made to the Leukemia Society, Inc. at 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667 for the Clinton Ave. Hospice House in Dade City (make note to specify The Clinton Ave. Hospice House).
Myrtle Mitchell
Myrtle L. Mitchell, 86, of Lansing, formerly of Charlotte, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999.
She was born Dec. 11, 1912 in Dimondale. For many years she and her husband, Keith, operated a dairy farm in Charlotte. Mrs. Mitchell taught school for 38 years in Potterville and Waverly. She was principal at Potterville Elementary and named “Teacher of the Year” at Waverly. She loved to read her Bible and greeted everyone with “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad.”
She is survived by her sister, Zella Holcomb of Lansing; many nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith.
Services were held March 2 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Rev. Dr. Charles Moore officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Pearl Mitchell
Pearl (Hickling) Mitchell, 88, of Olivet died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte.
Mrs. Mitchell was born May 20, 1911 in Reading, the daughter of John Mable (Plumb) Hickling and had been an Olivet resident since December 1942, coming from Lansing. She was self-employed as a nurse’s aid, having cared for many area people in their own homes, and has been employed for 13 years in the housekeeping department at Olivet College. She attended the Nashville Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Edna Peavyhouse of Olivet; two sons, John Jones of Marshall and James Mitchell of Olivet; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Murrell Hickling of Olivet. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Feb. 4, 1963.
At Mrs. Mitchell’s request, her body has been donated to the Michigan State University Department of Anatomy. Memorial services were Oct. 21 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Inurnment of cremains will take place as a later date in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
