George J. Doxtader
George J. Doxtader, age 74, of Onondaga died Monday, July 12, 1999 in Eaton Rapids. He was born July 8, 1925 in Jackson, the son of George Sr. and Beatrice (Waite) Doxtader. George was a retired farmer and janitor of the Springport Public Schools, retiring in 1987. He was preceded in death by his daughter Joyce Doxtader in 1966 and 3 grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Myrtle; 5 daughters and 2 sons, Richard (Diana) Doxtader of Parma, Rosemary (Alfred) Clark of Onondaga, George (Flo) Doxtader of Eaton Rapids, Phyllis (Albert) Clark of Lincoln, Montana, Connie Portalatin of Onondaga, Jean (Dan) Cortright of Albion and Carol Doxtader of Onondaga; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Grace Johnston of Mason, Pauline (Henry) Kroemer of Muskegon and Virgil Kendell of Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on July 16th from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Stephen Klink of the Community Christian Church in Eaton Rapids officiating. Burial was in the North Waterloo Cemetery in Stockbridge. Pallbearers were grandsons, William Clark, Duane Doxtader, Tom Andrades, Jose Andrades, Robby Portalatin, Edward Portalatin and Tony Portalatin.
Anna Drabczyk
Anna Drabczyk, 85, of Charlotte died May 10, 1999.
Mrs. Drabczyk was born Sept. 3, 1913 in Wyandotte, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Zudnczyk) Grabowski.
She is survived by one daughter, Diane Maihofer of Olivet; two sons, Frank Jr. (Sandy) of Marne and Anthony (Anne) of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Frank (Kelle) Drabczyk III, Brian (Gina) Drabczyk, Erik Drabczyk, Robert Maihofer II, Jason (Melinda) Maihofer, and Carmen Anne Drabczyk; and four great-grandchildren, Katie, Jacie, Ariel, and Zakary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank and son-in-law, Robert Maihofer.
Services were May 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Charlotte, with Fr. Thomas Nenneau officiating. Interment was at Bosworth Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Mary Frances Drake
Mary Frances Drake, age 73, of Eaton Rapids died Thursday, April 8, 1999 at the Sparrow Health System/Dimondale Center. She was born November 14, 1925 in Greenfield, Tenne4ssee the daughter of Robert and Alice (Baker) Matheny. Mrs. Drake was a member of the South Baptist Church in Lansing.
Surviving are her husband, James, of Eaton Rapids; 3 children, James Gary (Marty) Drake of Lansing, Linda (Roy) Sebastian of Nashville, MI, and Gregory Allen (Tammy) Drake of Portland; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Joy (Jerry) Riggs of Dresden, TN; 2 nephews; and 1 niece.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 10th at 2 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Lewis Wood of the South Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing. Casket bearers were Lew Wilson, Jeff Sebastian, Glen Sebastian, Roy Sebastian, Pete Bates and Robert Putman.
Merlin Drake
Merlin Drake, 94, of Charlotte, died Jan. 4, 1999.
Mr. Drake was born July 8, 1904 in Eaton County, the son of Clarence and Helen Drake.
He is survived by two daughters, Delilah (Cecil) Langenfeld and Wanda (Dennis) Larson, both of Lansing; five sons, Robert (Vira) of Arkansas, Calvin of Morrice, Harold (Carole) of Lansing, George (Barbara) of Harrison, and Patrick (Kathy) of Holt, 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Hilda Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude in 1989.
Services were Jan. 7 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Moore officiating. Interment was in Deepdale Memorial Park, Lansing.
Kyle Ducharme
Kyle Frederick Ducharme, infant son of Frederick and Angela Ducharme of Gaylord, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999 at Butterworth Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids.
He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Emily and Morgan; grandparents, Walt and Maxine Ducharme of Flushing and Stanley and Mary Merritt of Charlotte; aunts and uncles, Gary and Denise Ensley of Charlotte, John and Barb Robirds of Grand Ledge, Cathy Merritt of Holt, Nancy and Dale Jacob of Gaylord, Bob and Trish Ducharme of Rochester, Jim Ducharme and Dan Ducharme, both of Flushing, Tim and Beth Ducharme of Durand, Bill Ducharme of Florida, Wally and Jan Ducharme of Grand Blanc; and many loving cousins.
Services were held Feb. 18 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Gaylord with Fr. John McCracken officiating. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Gaylord.

Ruth Dymond
Ruth Angeline (Waak) Dymond, 79, of Charlotte, died Monday, April 5, 1999. Mrs. Dymond was born April 12, 1919, on a farm in LaPorte County, Indiana the daughter of William and Lucinda (Vader) Waak.
She married her husband of 57 years on Oct. 5, 1941.
She was predeceased by three brothers, four sisters, plus a grandchild, Faith Dymond in 1990.
Surviving are her husband, Alpha E. Dymond; brother, Lewis Waak of Richmond, Indiana; her five children, Diane and Cindy Dymond, both of Charlotte, Crystal Noecker of Lansing, Gary Dymond of Millett and Grace (Jeff) Ueberroth of Dimondale; six grandchildren, Dawn (Chris) Sweet of Rockford; Rochelle Noecker of Lansing, Jason and Kyle Dymond of Millett and Charles and Margaret Ueberroth of Dimondale; one great-grandchildren, Kelsey Sweet; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nacoma and Wm. Charles Spagnuolo; and brother-in-law, Eldon (Chere) Dymond of Charlotte. Mrs. Dymond was a partner throughout life with her husband and full partner in her business, Al Dymond Color Service, for 35 years until its closing. She was devoted to her home in the country and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her husband, children and grandchild.
Funeral services were Friday, April 9, at the Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Ivan L. Stubbs officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the charity or fund of one’s choice.

Editha Enquist
Editha Kathleen Enquist, 79, of Lake, MI, formerly of Eaton County, died Aug. 13, 1999.
Mrs. Enquist was born Dec. 12, 1919 in Eaton County, the daughter of Arthur and Julie (Paine) Hall. She was a member of the Lake of the Pines Ladies Association.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, LaVern; one daughter, Kathleen (David) Yeomans of Charlotte; one son, David (Suzanne) of Bellevue; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bertrum in 1950.
Services were Aug. 16 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Dr. Charles Bicy officiating. Interment was in the Munger Cemetery.
Evert Ensley
Evert “Bill” Ensley, 79, died Aug. 22, 1999.
Mr. Ensley was born Oct. 21, 1919 in Blanchard. He retired from Consumers Power in 1976 after 25 years of service.
Surviving are his son, Bill of Lansing; two grandsons, Gary (Denise) Ensley of Charlotte and Barney Thompson of Lansing; one great-granddaughter, Taylor; one sister, Betty (Ernie) Zimmerman of Munising; special friend, Naomi Archer of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Dorothy on Nov. 12, 1982 and Mary on Oct. 20, 1997.
Memorial services were held Aug. 27 at Gorsline-Runciman Co., Lansing Chapel.
Herbert F. Esch
Herbert F. Esch, age 85, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 1999 at a Lansing Hospice (Mother Teresa House). He was born in Westphalia and lived in Lansing for many years. A baker by trade, he also service machinery for Baryamis and Launderwell. He loved fishing, hunting, motorcycling, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Herb was a charter member of the Holt/Mason Eagles Lodge. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred; step-son, Raymond Haring; brother, Julius and three sisters, Leona, Mary, and Francis.
He is survived by his wife, Bethel; step-children, Kenneth (Ethel) Haring, Toni Haring, Dick and Ginny Huntington, Barry and Mary Huntington, Bill and Carol White. Grandpa Herb was loved by 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Opal Claflin and Helen McConnell.
Memorial services were held Saturday, September 24th, from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. David Sellick officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ingham Hospice, Mother Teresa House or the Eaton Rapids Senior Center.
