Dale Kebler
Dale Richard Kebler, 79, of Potterville, died Feb. 25, 1999.
Mr. Kebler was born June 9, 1919 in Eagle, the son of Charles and Zanah (Hazen) Kebler.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Natalie; two daughters, Barbara (Alan) Almy of Grand Ledge and Judith (David) Kerr of Kalamazoo; one son, William (Cindy) of Parriah, Fla.; one granddaughter, Kirstie Almy; five grandsons, Andy and Erick Almy, Paul and Mark Kerr, and William Lee Kebler; one sister-in-law, Velma Kebler of Grand Ledge; and one brother, Dean of Crystal Lake.
Services were Feb. 27 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with the Rev. Ray Raycroft officiating. Interment was in the Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing.
Alfred D. Kelly
Alfred D. Kelly, age 74, died August 8, 1999 in North Vernon, IN. Al was born August 16, 1925 in Kalamazoo the son of Donald Leroy and Gladys E. (Hartwell) Kelly. He married Dora Louise Alsup in 1944 in Texas and she preceded him in death in 1977. His daughter, Wanda Strank and companion, Avene Copeland, also predeceased him. Mr. Kelly was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII and was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge, and AmVets Post 7 all in North Vernon. He had been a self-employed carpenter and installed ceramic tile.
Surviving are his son, Don (Delena) Kelly of Eaton Rapids; 2 daughters, Debbie (Wayne) Sebastian of North Vernon, IN, Cindy (Bruce) Plumb of Sullivan, IL; 2 sisters, Darlene (Weston) Weber of Grand Rapids, Beverly Burnham of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 12, 1999 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Stephen Klink, Pastor of the Eaton Rapids Community Christian Church, officiating. Casket bearers were Jerry Glisson, Larry Foster, Daryl Steele, Jim Weber, Rick Sebastian and Butch Slaght. Interment followed at the Bunker Hill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Alfred Kelly.
LaKisha Kemp
LaKisha Marie Kemp, 9, of Ionia, died Feb. 10, 1999 due to accidental injuries.
She was born Feb. 26, 1989 in Coldwater, the daughter of Billy Earl Turpin and Jeannie Kemp. She was currently attending Rather Elementary School and was active in the Girl Scouts in Ionia and Awana in Lake Odessa.
She is survived by her parents, Jeannie and Christopher Hyatt of Ionia; grandmother, Mary Ellen Kemp of Ionia; grandfather, John David and Darlene Kemp of N.C.; grandfather, Bobby Turpin of Coldwater; grandmother, Joyce Fedewa of Ind.; grandparents, Jim and Ruth Hyatt of Lake Odessa; great uncle, David Rathbun of Plymouth; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Earl Turpin in 1997.
Services were held Feb. 15 at the Lake Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Pold officiating. Interment was at Letts Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Lake Funeral Home of Ionia.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fun Forest of the Ionia Parks and Recreation, the Humane Society of Ionia or the Rather School.
Effie J. Kemper
Effie J. Kemper, age 79, of Cadillac formerly of Eaton Rapids died Saturday, December 11, 1999 in Eaton Rapids. She was born April 25, 1920 in Traverse City the oldest of 7 children born to Harold and Jennie (Holcomb) Stahl. Mrs. Kemper has formerly worked for Horner Woolen Mills in Eaton Rapids. She had worked for Ides Clothing and Alts Clothing stores and Furgeson’s Cleaners as a seamstress and finally with Robert Halls in Lansing. Mrs. Kemper was a member of the South Community United Methodist Church in Cadillac. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Albert Kemper in 1993; a son Harold in 1998; granddaughter, Theresa Kemper and 2 brothers, Chuck and Fred Stahl.
Surviving are 3 children, Lucie (Roger) Arend of Mason, Arthur (Christine) Kemper of Eaton Rapids and John (Janice) Kemper of Eaton Rapids; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Ed (Freda) Stahl of Eaton Rapids; 3 sisters, Audrey (Emmerson) Dillon of Bellevue, Rosie (David) Lloyd of Eaton Rapids and Melissa Stahl of Lansing; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 15th at 1 p.m. at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Marty DeBow of the Robbins United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Brickyard Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Casket beaters will be Clarence Halsey, Kevin Kemper, Brian Kemper, Robert Kemper, Nathan McDaniel and Michael Burton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. For those desiring, a memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Rapids Medical Center in memory of Effie J. Kemper.
Delia Key
Delia (Heisler) Key, 80, of Olivet died Aug. 14, 1999 at her home in the care of her family.
Mrs. Key was born in Eaton County, the daughter of Fred and Myrtie (Caldwell) Heisler, and was a lifelong Olivet area resident. She was employed in the housekeeping department of Olivet College from 1955 to 1975.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Stanley) Kita of Olivet; three grandsons, John (Carla) Kita, Steven Kita and Jeffrey (Jamie) Kita; three great-grandchildren, Andy and Ben Hazel, and Abby Kita; and one brother, Donald (Marian) Heisler of Olivet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1990; one son, Elmer Key in 1985; four sisters, Carrie Oberlin, Sylvia Wilber, Freda Murphy, and Jessie Sharp; and four brothers, Cecil, Andrew, Gerald “Jeff”, and Kenneth Heisler.
Services were Aug. 17 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Pastor Winford Collins and Pastor David Litchfield officiating. Interment was in the Lee Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oaklawn Hospice or Lee Center United Methodist Church.
Anna E. Kiger
Anna E. Kiger, 98 years of age, died Thursday, September 16, 1999, at the Emmet County Medical Care Facility in Harbor Spring, MI. Mrs. Kiger was born September 19, 1900. In 1919 she married Ray Kiger and moved to Eaton Rapids in the 1930’s. They had a strawberry farm for many years and sold to different markets; also a chicken farm in winter. Later in life she enjoyed eating out with many friends and family.
She is survived by one brother, Bert Ward; special friends from WWII; and sister-in-law, Gertrude McGuire and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Ray Kiger; sisters, Edith, Hattie, Lea and brother, Ted Ward.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 20, 1999 at 1 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Betts officiating. Interment followed in the family plot in Brickyard Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, MI.
Eric King
Eric King, 38, of Mulliken, died Nov. 23, 1998 at his home.
Mr. King was born Aug. 8, 1960 in Battle Creek and attended Mulliken Elementary and Grand Ledge High Schools.
He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Evans of Mulliken; two sisters, Shannon (Lee) Hoover and Kim (Mike) Birsen, of Charlotte; his aunt, Eleanor Ottgen of Charlotte; and his uncle, Lester Bennett of Charlotte.
Memorial services were held Feb. 27, 1999 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home in Mulliken, with Chuck Jensen officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton County Child Abuse.
Florence Ruby Kinsky
Florence Ruby Kinsky, age 79, of Allen Park died December 31, 1998. She was beloved wife of the late Edward Kinsky.
Mrs. Kinsky was the loving mother of Barbara (Bruce) Bradstreet of Brighton and Linda (Rodney) Guy of Eaton Rapids; dear Grandmother of Sara and David Bradstreet, Jodie and Daniel Guy and Melissa (Todd) Gerych.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Weise Funeral Home in Allen Park with entombment at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to First Congregational Church of Eaton Rapids or the Methodist Children’s Home in memory of Florence Ruby Kinsky would be appreciated.
Clyde Kirschenman
Clyde V. Kirschenman, 89, of Portland, died Jan. 30, 1999 at his home.
Mr. Kirschenman was born Sept. 14, 1909 in Lansing the son of Edna Jones Kirschenman. He married Ruth Timpson June 4, 1935 in Lansing. He was a member of the Portland Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Portland; a daughter, Rebecca (Reed) Dungan of Columbus, Ohio; a son, James (Linda) Kirschenman of Heidelberg, Germany; four sisters, Alice Carman, Eleanor LaFontzee and Betty Lou Haines all of Lansing, and Dorothea Demery of Charlotte; four grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
