Eileen Morse
M. Eileen Morse, 86, of Mercedes, Texas, formerly of Waterford and the Bellevue area, died Nov. 27, 1999 at Knapp Medical Center, Weslaco, Texas.
Mrs. Morse was born Nov. 5, 1913 in Eaton County, the daughter of Giles Vern and Easter (Harcourt) Ripley. She graduated from Mason High School and Olivet College, where she received her teaching degree. She taught school for six years at the Follett School in Bellevue and in the Charlotte schools. Later, she had been a social worker for the Eaton County Department of Social Services in Charlotte until she retired in 1967. She married Cecil Morse June 7, 1941 in Charlotte and was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Mercedes, Texas, and enjoyed reading, playing the organ and playing cards.
She is survived by one sister, Genevieve Potter of Marshall; one sister-in-law, Elaine Ripley of Vermontville; and one niece, Mary Crisher of Battle Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil June 2, 1996; and brother, Vern Harcourt Ripley.
Services were Dec. 1 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Fr. Carlos Miguel officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue. Arrangements were made by the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, or St. Ann Catholic Church.
George Glenn Mortimer
George Glenn Mortimer, age 82, of Springport formerly of Albion, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital in Eaton Rapids. He was born January 1, 1917 in Everett, Pennsylvania, the son of Arthur and Emma (McGraw) Mortimer. Mr. Mortimer was a retired carpenter/contractor who owned and operated his own business for many years in the Springport and Albion area. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW Post in Springport and a member of the Carpenter’s Union of Jackson.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Ellen; 3 children, son, Glenn (Vickie) Mortimer of Eaton Rapids; 2 daughters, Barbara Michalcewicz of Charlotte and Joan (Steve) Call of Salem, Oregon; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Catherine Felton of Breezewood, Pennsylvania and brother, Richard Mortimer of Annapolis, Maryland; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with grandson Pastor Mark Michalcewicz of the Community Baptist Church of Silver Lake, Wisconsin officiating. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital in memory of George G. Mortimer.
Leslie Mott
Leslie D. Mott, 81, of Olivet, died Nov. 22, 1999 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte, after an extended illness.
Mr. Mott was born in Walton Township, Eaton County, the son of Laurel and Etta (French) Mott, and was a lifelong resident of the Walton Township and the Olivet area. He was a 1936 graduate of Olivet High School, a lifelong farmer and had been employed by the Aluminum Extrusions Co. in Charlotte, from which he retired in 1980 after 25 years of service. He married to Wilma Oteney Sept. 26, 1937 in Concord.
He is survived in death by one sister, Phyllis Salisbury in 1984.
Cremation has taken place.
Graveside services were Nov. 27 at Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet, with the Rev. Doug Hammond officiating. Arrangements were made by the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Woodrow W. “Woody” Mullins
Woodrow W. “Woody” Mullins, age 68, of Albion died Sunday, January 24, 1999. He was born December 9, 1930 in Floyd County, NY the son of Forster and Florence (Hale) Mullins. He worked at Corning Glass for 20 years and then Amerikan Container in Warsaw, IN for 10 years returning to Albion 3 years ago. He was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge in Warsaw, IN and enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, and traveling. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister.
Surviving are 1 son, Ed (Chris) Mullins of Springport; 3 daughters, Anna Marie Mullins of Jackson, Janell Mullins of Springport, and Michelle Mullins of Warsaw, IN; 5 grandchildren; 5 brothers, Claude, Paul & Hampton Mullins all of Indiana, Denver & Jimmy Mullins both of Kentucky; special friends, Tom Hamilton and Les Harris; and former wife, Dora Mullins of Eaton Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at Hall Brothers Funeral Home in Martin, KY with burial at Hale Family Cemetery, Steven’s Branch, KY. Local arrangements by Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapel in Albion.
William Myers
William Franklin Myers, 62, of Charlotte died Oct. 7, 1999 in Lansing.
Mr. Myers was born Feb. 23, 1937 in Charlotte, the son of John Myers Sr. and Letia (Clever) Myers. He was a member of Charlotte Lodge #120 F&AM, Eaton County Shrine Club, Commandry and Royal Arch Masons, Order of Eastern Star Chapter #218 and was a past president of the Charlotte Lions Club. He had been a supervisor for Oldsmobile.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; five daughters, Jamie Myers of Alexandria, Va., Rachel (Erik) Rosendale of St. Johns, Kathleen Myers of Elkhart, Ind., Kim (Steve) Young of Grand Haven and Karin (Rob) Bartlett of Katy, Texas; two sons, William “Butch” (Michelle) of Kokomo, Ind., and Kristopher of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, Amanda and Adam Vogl, Mathew and Samantha Myers, Ashley Myers, Veronica and Sean Spaulding, and Erin Bartlett; three sisters, Francis Uhl and Margaret Hunt, both of Charlotte, and Beverly Cole of Springport; and one brother, John Myers Jr. of Olivet.
Masonic services are Sunday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home and services are Monday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Charles Jenson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Ella Nevins
Ella Elizabeth (McClintock) Nevins, 68, of Charlotte died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999.
Mrs. Nevins was born Aug. 14, 1931 in Charlotte, the daughter of Howard and Elsie (Griffin) McClintock. She graduated from Morris School in 1945 and Charlotte High School in 1949. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Charlotte as an organist and member of its Missionary Circle. She taught Sunday School and formerly oversaw First Baptist’s Guild Girls. She had worked in the office at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, where she also played the organ for funerals. She had previously been a floral designer at Roseacre Greenhouse.
She is survived by her husband, Roy; daughter, Michele (Jamie) Grinage; two grandsons, Jonathan and Little Jamie; and many special friends, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Lawrence, Marion and Iva McClintock.
Services were Sept. 18 at Pray Funeral Home. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or Eaton Community Hospice.
Robert (Nick) Nickerson
Robert (Nick) Nickerson, age 72, died Saturday, January 9, 1999 in Metairie, LA. Bob grew up at the VFW National Home and graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1945. He enlisted in the service and spent his life in the United States Air Force. He was a member and past commander of Metry Post No. 6640; MOC MUD Bugs P.T. No. 3; DAV John P. April No. 33 and American Legion LA Post 0175. He also served on the Board of Directors for the VFW National Home.
He is survived by his wife Sylvia; five children, Christine (Arthur) Kemper, Michael (Ti) Nickerson, Patricia (Donald) Nichols, Kathleen (Conan) Coombs, and Noreen (Tom) Henninger; one step-son, Charles Mendoza; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene (Karen) Nickerson; 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
Services were held in Metairie, LA on Wednesday, January 13, 1999.
Wellington Nickerson
Wellington F. “Nick” Nickerson, 93, of North Port, Fla., died May 28, 1999.
Mr. Nickerson was born Dec. 9, 1905 in Bellevue. In 1955 he moved to Arcadia, Fla. He was a retired homebuilder.
He is survived by one daughter, Ruth (Louis) DeSantis of North Port; one son, Burrell F. Nickerson of Bellevue; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Inurnment of the cremains are Saturday, June 26, at 2 p.m. in the Flora Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel, Battle Creek. Arrangements were made by the Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, Arcadia.
