Helen Ranger
Helen Ranger, 87, of Olivet died June 24, 1999 at Tendercare Manor, Marshall.
Mrs. Ranger was born Jan. 22, 1912 in Marengo Township, the daughter of George and Vada (Hartson) Scott Sr. She married Russell Ranger June 28, 1930 in Angola, Ind. She was a member of Ainger Bible Church and Olivet Senior Citizens and enjoyed flower gardening, traveling and doing ceramics.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Hester of Marshall; one son, Alvin of Battle Creek; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Wiersema and Mable Holibaugh, both of Battle Creek and Mildred Duckham of Tekonsha; and one brother, George Scott Jr. of Olivet.
She was preceded in death by a son, Maynard in 1975.
Services were June 28 at the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Pastor Scott Brood officiating. Interment was at Porter Cemetery, Convis Township.

Russell Ranger
Russell Range, 86, of Olivet died June 29, 1999 at Tendercare Manor, Marshall.
Mr. Ranger was born Nov. 16, 1912 in Eckford Township, the son of Frank and Mary (Carpenter) Ranger. Mr. Ranger was employed by Duplex Printing, was a welder at Allen Industrial Products, and operated Ranger Welding in Marshall for ten years. He also worked for Oliver Equipment Co., American Stamping Co. and Bernis Mfg. Co. in Kalamazoo, and owned a tavern in Hopkins. He was a member of Ainger Bible Church, Lodge #123 F&AM in Whitehall, Hopkins Lions Club, National Rifle Association and Bellevue Conservation Club. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He played amateur baseball from 1930-40.
Surviving are son, Alvin Ranger of Battle Creek; daughter, Barbara Hester of Marshall; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; brother, William Ranger of Marshall; sisters, Dorothy Shantz of Marshall and Rosemary Robinson of Tekonsha.
He was preceded in death June 24, 1999 by his wife, Helen Scott, whom he married June 28, 1930 in Angola, Ind.; one son, Maynard in 1975; and one brother, Robert Ranger.
Services were July 1 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Pastor Scott Brood officiating. Interment was at Porter Cemetery, Convis Twp.

Bruce Rasmussen
Bruce Lee Rasmussen, 37, of Eaton Rapids died April 13, 1999.
Mr. Rasmussen was born Jan. 14, 192 in Alpena and had been employed with New Construction Air Conditioning, Holt. He was a life member of Charlotte Eagles Aerie #3552 and was a member of Lansing Moose Lodge #288.
He is survived by his wife, Nancee; two daughters, Tabitha and Ashley; one son, Bruce Jr.; two step-daughters, Natasha and Autumn; his parents, Robert and Emily Rasmussen of Eaton Rapids; two sisters, Debbie Pitts of California and Patti (Allen) Prince of Charlotte; two brothers, Rob (Shelly) of Charlotte and Brad (Amy) of Mulliken; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two nephews, Mark and Shaun Rasmussen.
Services were April 16 at the Eaton Rapids First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Evans officiating. Interment was in Center Eaton Cemetery, Charlotte. Arrangements were made by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rasmussen Children’s Trust Fund.
Meredith Rawson
Meredith Cleone Rawson, 74, of Charlotte died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999.
Miss Rawson was born Aug. 7, 1924 in Vermontville, the daughter of Cleo and Edith Rawson.
She is survived by brothers, Theodore Rawson and William Rawson both of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Rawson in 1980. A graveside committal will be held at a future date. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville.
William Rawson
William Frank Rawson, 77, of Charlotte died Dec. 10, 1999.
Mr. Rawson was born Aug. 30, 1922 in Nashville, the son of Cleo and Edith (Northrup) Rawson. He was a retired foreman at Aluminum Extrusions in Charlotte, veteran of World War II, in which he received the Purple Heart, and an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Donis; two daughters, Heidi (Perry) Parks of DeWitt and Jody (James) Gunia of Lansing; two sons, Jeff (Lacey) Rawson of Grand Rapids and Dan (Kathy) Rawson of Frankenmuth; six grandchildren, Hana and Haley Parks, Gabriel Gunia, Makenna Rawson, Joel and Josh Rawson; and one brother, Ted of Charlotte.
Services were held Dec. 13 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Darwin Kuhl officiating. Interment was in the West Carmel Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Jeffrey Ray
Jeffrey Ray, 33, of Charlotte, died Sept. 25, 1999.
Mr. Ray was born Oct. 6, 1965, the son of the late Donald and Hilda (Reinke) Ray. He was a resident of Charlotte for the past 26 years and enjoyed woodworking, watching football, riding his bike, working on his lawn, and animals – especially his two cats.
He is survived by one sister, Kelly (James) Rossman; one brother, Michael; one half-sister, Cynthia Engelter; a niece, Anna Marie; three nephews, Brandon, Cory, and Austin; and special friend, Renee Hall.
Graveside services were Sept. 30 at Deepdale Memorial Park, Lansing. Arrangements by Palmer-Bush Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association.
Virgil Ray
Virgil D. Ray, 69, of Charlotte, Mich., died March 24, 1999. Mr. Ray was born Feb. 9, 1930 in Blanchard, Mich., the son of Don and Clara (Schnipp) Ray. He is survived by his wife, Bev and special granddaughter, Tonya Gardner; four daughters, Nona Nemi of Munising, Linda (Dennis) Smith of Charlotte, Kriss (Terry) Carpenter of Charlotte, and Dawn (Dave) Moore of Grand Ledge; a son, Felix (Cathy) Ray of Bellevue; two stepsons, David (Peggy) Gardner of Charlotte and Scott (Donna) Gardner of Charlotte; six granddaughters and four grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Brian Ray; a step-son, Jimmy Gardner; and a great-granddaughter, Bailey Fletcher.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Pray Funeral Home.

Miriam C. Raymer
Miriam C. Raymer, age 90, of Eaton Rapids died Sunday, June 6, 1999 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility in Charlotte. Born June 6, 1909 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the daughter of Franklin Levi and Matilda (Linker) Warner. Miriam had worked for many years as a sales clerk for Laura’s Dress Shop in Eaton Rapids. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids and was a life member and past worthy matron of the Eastern Star Lodge #241 Eaton Rapids. Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1985 and her daughter, JoAnn Shaw in 1978.
Surviving are two sons, George (Joyce) Raymer of Spring Lake, and Robert (Darlene) Raymer of Charlotte; son-in-law, Ralph Shaw of Eaton Rapids; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Deloris Hosler of Eaton Rapids and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 8th at 2 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Robert Betts officiating. Eastern Star memorial service was conducted on Monday evening at 7 p.m. by the O.E.S. Lodge #241. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Casket bearers were grandsons, Russ Raymer, Scott Raymer, Rick Raymer, Brian Hanley, Mark Crippen and Darryl Duncan.
