Joyce E. Raymond
Joyce E. Raymond, born July 10, 1941 in Lansing, died June 13, 1999 at the age of 57. Mrs. Raymond was employed at Whitehills Health Care Center as a dietary aide.
Surviving are 1 daughter, Tina Marie (Mike) Vasilion of Lansing; 3 sons, Mark (Julie) Elston of Cedar Springs, Ricky Elston of Eaton Rapids, and Rodney (Bobbie) Elston of Leslie; 10 grandchildren; 1 brother, Ed (Bonnie) Powell of Lansing; 3 sisters, Brenda (Steve) Sanders, Sandra Hooper, and Carolyn Mulkey; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19 at the Gorsline-Runciman Co., East Chapel, East Lansing.
Betty Reed
Betty J. Reed, 72, of Charlotte, died Feb. 21, 1999.
Mrs. Reed was born Aug. 6, 1926 in Mishawaka, Ind. the daughter of Murray and Bessie Doland.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, James Reed; two daughters, Cindy (Dave) Palmiter of Charlotte and Debbie Niles of Battle Creek; one son, Dale Niles of Youngstown, Ohio; four grandchildren; Chad, Crystal, Shawn Gardner and Jessica Westveer; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Kohn, Dustin and Ashley Gardner; and one brother, Donald Doland.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Doland.
Services were held Feb. 24 at Pray Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Zuhl officiating. Interment was in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Clayo Reed
Clayo victor Reed, 85, of Vermontville, died Dec. 17, 1999 in Charlotte.
Mr. Reed was born Nov. 11, 1914 in Ionia County, the son of Warren and Elizabeth (Post) Reed.
He married Pauline Hoy June 3, 1933. He retired from General Motors and was a life member of Sunfield Masonic Lodge #455.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pauline; two daughters, Phyllis Frith of Nashville and Jackie (Don) Feess of Vermontville; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Milo (Bonnie) of Saranac; two sisters, Miriam (Jim) Curtis of Sunfield and Louise (Elmer) Harris of Ypsilanti; and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Versil Reed in April 1959.
No services were held. Arrangements were made by the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield.

Violet Rennick
Violet Clara Rennick, 96, of Charlotte died Jan. 11, 1999.
Mrs. Rennick was born June 16, 1902 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Berger.
She is survived by two sons, Virgil Rennick of Gladwin and Neil Rennick of Charlotte; one son-in-law, Malcolm Fox of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil in 1936 and one daughter, Joyce Fox in 1994.
Services were Jan. 15 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Dr. Peter Brenner officiating. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Mattie Reynolds
Mattie G. Reynolds, 75, of Vermontville died Dec. 6 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing.
Mrs. Reynolds was born May 18, 1924 at Myrtle Beach, S.C. the daughter of Clyde and Maybell (Cooper) Galloway. She worked for the Michigan School for the Blind in Lansing, Lansing General Hospital and the Rehabilitation Center. She enjoyed her family, including nieces, nephews, grandchildren, children, and those from the School for the Blind.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William Reynolds Jr.; two daughters, Jeannie (Billy) Way of Jasper, Ga., and Joan (Gary) Felzke of Lansing; one son, Al (Sheri) of Vermontville; and grandchildren, Cindy and Gary Jr. of Lansing, Bill and Jeremy of Woodland, and Kevin and Kayla of Jasper, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Blaine, Terriell, Christopher, Ellie, Betsy; one sister, Jacqueline Ribby of Marietta, Ga.; and two brothers, William Galloway and Paul Galloway, both of Lansing.
She was preceded in death by her mother, and one brother, James Galloway.
Services were Dec. 9 at the Maple Valley Chapel, Genther Funeral Home, Nashville. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermontville.

Jesse O. Rich
Jesse O. Rich, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on December 21, 1999 at the age of 82. Jesse was born November 27, 1917 in Mason the son of Herman Gilbert and Maud Mary (Voisinet) Rick. He was a member of the Robbins United Methodist Church. Jesse graduated from Holt High School where he played on the football team. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Thelma M.; daughter, Sharon (Ron) Miller of Mason; son, Duane (Linda) Rich of Eaton Rapids; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, John (Nita) Rich, Russell Rich both of Texas; 2 sisters, Peggy Acker of Maryland, Dorothy (Don) Chapman of Mason and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 23, 1999, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids with Rev. Marty DeBow officiating. Interment followed at the Fowler Cemetery in Aurelius Twp. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society in memory of Jesse O. Rich.
Carol Ripley
Carol Anne Ripley, 46, of Waterford, formerly of Bellevue, died Jan. 13, 1999 at her home.
Miss Ripley was born Sept. 26, 1952 in Charlotte, the daughter of Vern and Elaine (Crites) Ripley. She graduated in 1970 from Bellevue High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1974 and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan in 1986. She was a licensed social worker and employed as the supervisor of the Youth Assistance Programs of the Probate Court in Oakland County since 1976. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Waterford, and enjoyed gardening and crafts.
She is survived by her mother, Elaine of Vermontville; three sisters, Sue Ellen (Terry) Yerge and Jo (Bill) O’Rourke, both of Bellevue, and Mary Louise Crisher of Battle Creek; two brothers, Patrick (Bonnie) Ripley and John (Roxanne) Ripley, both of Vermontville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1967 and one brother, Michael Ripley.
Services were Jan. 16 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Fr. Miguel Carlos officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
Arrangements were made by the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.

Royal Ritter
Royal Ritter, 74, of Potterville died March 31, 1999.
Mr. Ritter was a graduate of Sunfield High School and served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II. He was a Benton Township dairy farmer for 45 years. He was a member of the Potterville United Methodist Church, Past Master of Potterville F&AM Lodge #367, had been a Benton Township Trustee from 1978-90, and had been a member of the Michigan Milk Producer’s Association for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Mary Ritter of Potterville and Phyllis (Christopher) Reynolds of Andalusia, Ala.; one son, Daniel of Potterville; two granddaughters, Abbigail and Hannah Reynolds; two sisters, Jane Reynolds of Hastings and Jeanne Harris of Oak Park, Ill.; two brothers-in-law, Harold (Virginia) Zimmerman and John (Donna) Zimmerman, both of Pleasant Lake; three sisters-in-law, Noriene Ritter of Bronson, Lucille (LaVern) Eldred and Betty Zimmerman, both of Leslie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, David, in 1965.
Services were April 3 at the Potterville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Bailey officiating. Interment was in the Benton Township Cemetery, Potterville. Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
