Barbara Walters
Barbara Lou Walters, 68, of Bellevue died Dec. 22, 1999 at Battle Creek Health System.
Mrs. Walters was born in Battle Creek Sept. 27, 1931, the daughter of Leslie and Ruth (McIntyre) Grant. She married Jack Walters April 17, 1948 in Battle Creek.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Ashley and Linda Goodman, both of Bellevue, and Diana Walters of Burlington; two sons, Tom and Mike, both of Bellevue; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beverly Phillips of Bellevue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 1993; one grandson, Bert (BW) Goodman II; and one brother, Robert Grant.
Services were Dec. 24 at the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with the Rev. Darwin Kuhl officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
Laurence Ward
Laurence Alton Ward, 91, of Bellevue died Nov. 19, 1999 at home.
Mr. Ward was born July 17, 1908 in Battle Creek, the son of Leonard and Eva (Nicewander) Ward. He was a production worker for Kellogg’s from 1940 until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the Convix Union United Methodist Church and Kellogg’s 25-year Club, and loved to farm. He married Gertrude Mae Hix in February 1930. He married Ida Grace Nuding Manwarren in April of 1989.
He is survived by three daughters, LaWanda Wine of Bellevue, Valeta Coffman of Baldwin, and Charlotte Bryant of Bishop, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude in 1981 and his second wife, Grace in April 1998; one son, Laurence Ward Jr. on July 25, 1999; brother, Clarence Ward; and sister, Alma Stults.
Services were Nov. 23 at the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Pastor Bud Buchner officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Frederick Gerald “Tiny” Warfield
Frederick Gerald “Tiny” Warfield, age 68, died Thursday, May 20, 1999 in Lansing. Tiny was born July 25, 1930 in Eaton Rapids the son of Fred “Bus” Clinton and Helen B. (Snow) Warfield, Jr. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Coast Guard. Gerald was the former owner of River City Meats in Eaton Rapids and was currently working as a meat cutter with his son Jerry at the 1910 Meat Co. in Lansing. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Maxine Wilson, Mary Etta File, and Dorothy Mason.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Jackie; 7 children, Brenda (Jose) Narezo, Sonia Smith, Terrie (Roy) Prior, Renee (Michael) Kirwin, David (Sue) all of Eaton Rapids, Frederick (Joellen) of Dimondale, Jerry (Betsy) of Lansing; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Ernest (Audrey) Woodman, Charles (Dottie) Warfield, Scott Mascho; 5 sisters, Sharon (Guy) Gunder, Shirley Steman, Margarette (Jude) Brotherton, Diane (Tim) Clemens and Sueann (Terry) McElwee.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 24, 1999 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Stephen Klink, Pastor of the Eaton Rapids Community Christian Church officiating. Interment followed at Bunker Hill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to either Alzheimer’s or the American Heart Association in memory of Gerald Warfield.
Sara Warren
Sara Ann Warren, 32, of Charlotte died June 19, 1999 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte, after an extended illness.
Ms. Warren was born Feb. 3, 1967 in Ann Arbor, and had been a Charlotte resident for 17 years, coming from Albuquerque, N.M., where she had lived for eight years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Charlotte.
She is survived by two sons, Matthew Pfeifer and Michael Warren, both of Charlotte; her fiance, Jason Williams of Charlotte; her father, Joseph Springsteen of Ionia; half-sister, Kelly Villallobo of Belding; step-brother, Joseph Warren of Holt; and grandparents, James and Vernal Workman of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Warren in 1985; her mother, Anita Warren in 1984; and her adoptive father, Orris Warren.
Services were June 23 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Pastor Noel Hall-Niemann officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to her sons.
William Warren Jr.
William D. “Bid” Warren, Jr., 67, of Estill Springs, Tenn., died Oct. 1, 1999 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center following a short illness.
Mr. Warren was born July 26, 1932 in Marion, Ind. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Navy from 1951-55. He was a supervisor for Owens-Brockway, retiring in 1987 after transferring from the Gas City, Ind., plant in 1983, where he worked for 28 years. He was a member and past Commander of the Winchester, Tenn., Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1893 and the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tullahoma, Tenn. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Hope; three daughters, Kathy (John) Saccone of Houston, Texas, Carole Alexander of Noblesville, Ind., and Karen (Jeff) Beasley of Charlotte; one son, Donald (Laura) of Tullahoma; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was Oct. 5 at the Good Sheperd Catholic Church, Decherd, Tenn., with Fr. John Kirk officiating. Interment was in the Watson-Gamble Memorial Park Cemetery, Winchester, with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Lung Association.
Glen E. Waterbury
Glen E. Waterbury, 76, of Olivet died June 8, 1999 at the Eaton Manor, Charlotte after an extended illness.
Mr. Waterbury was born Oct. 25, 1922 in Lansing, the son of Glen and Jenny (McIntyre) Waterbury and had been an Olivet resident since 1962, coming from Springport. He was a 1941 graduate of Dimondale High School and had served in the 5th Army during World War II, having served in North Africa and Italy. He had been an employee of the Lansing State Journal from 1951-61 and Olivet Optic from 1962-72. He was the owner/operator of the Printing Center Inc. in Olivet and also a licensed real estate sales person. He was a member of the Olivet Congregational Church, where he had served as a Sunday School teacher and past president of the Olivet Rotary Club and was a Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bernadine (LeSeney) Waterbury; two sons, Michael of Battle Creek and Roger of Holt; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan (Arthur) Kretschman of Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services were June 12 at the Olivet Congregational Church with the Rev. Clark Hock officiating. Interment of the cremains was in the Dimondale Cemetery.
Jack Watson
Jack Watson, 69, of Bellevue died Oct. 17, 1999 at the Battle Creek Health System.
Mr. Watson was born Feb. 5, 1930 in Battle Creek, the son of Connor and Elsie (Young) Watson. He graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1948 and went to work for the former Grand Trunk Western Railroad in 1949 in the communications department. He retired as a communications supervisor in 1987 for health reasons. He married Irene Cioni Aug. 12, 1950 in Battle Creek. He enjoyed gardening, fishing trips, spending summers at the cottage on Thornapple Lake, trips to Florida to visit family, visiting with his many good friends in Bellevue, and most of all, loving and enjoying time with his wife, daughters and grandsons.
Surviving by his wife, Irene; two daughters, Julie Steele of Marshall and Toni Watson of Grand Rapids, and two grandsons, Jeremiah and Andrew Steele of Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Watson and Jane Manis.
Services were Oct. 21 at the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with the Rev. William Brown officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Albion.

Waldo W. Weaver
Waldo W. Weaver, age 76, of Lansing, formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Thursday, April 8, 1999 at a Lansing hospital. He was born April 29, 1922 in Lansing, the son of Rolland E. and Laura K. (Bailey) Weaver. Mr. Weaver was retired from Sears in their Parts Department on Haco Drive in Lansing. A member of the Loyal Order of Eagles Local #1039 Lansing and a former member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge #114 Eaton Rapids. Waldo was an avid dancer, a good bowler, and enjoyed raising tulips. He was fond of joking with friends and telling humorous stories. Preceding him in death was his wife, Flora and son, Monty Jeffrey Lynn Weaver.
Surviving are his fiancee, Diane Sarver of Lansing and her two sons, Dean (Lisa) Sarver of Lansing and David Sarver of Colorado; daughter, Patricia (John) Dora of Holt; brother, John “Ted” (Kathryn) Weaver of Eaton Rapids and sister, Lena M. (Nick) Wells of Eaton Rapids; 5 grandchildren, John, Richard, Donna, Lisa and Patty Dora; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at 10 a.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Dr. Alan Malcolm of the First Congregational Church officiating. Interment of cremains will take place in the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids next to his wife Flora.
