Arthur Joseph Martin
Arthur Joseph Martin, 80, of Charlotte and Lakeland, Fla., died May 24, 1998 in Lakeland.
Mr. Martin was born Feb. 19, 1918 in Fowler, the son of Bernard N. and Anna (Witgen) Martin. He was a quality inspector for General Motors in Lansing. He married Anita Rademacher on Jan. 31, 1942. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Martin was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte and the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lakeland. He loved reading, walking, looking at new cars and eating out.
He is survived by his wife, Anita; five sons, Paul A. (Sharon) of Traverse City, Thomas L. (Barbara) of Lansing, William E. (Sally) of Nashville, Richard J. and Brian J. (Ramona), both of Charlotte; five grandchildren; three brothers, Roman (Betty) Martin of Grand Rapids, Bernard (Dorothy) Martin of Holt, and Marvin Martin of Morley; two sisters, Rose (John) Winstanley of Grand Ledge, and Catherine Holman of Big Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Martin.
Funeral Mass was May 29 at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Nenneau officiating. Interment was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Jennie M. Moist
Jennie M. Moist, 94, of Charlotte died Feb. 19, 1998 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility.
Mrs. Moist was born Oct. 16, 1903 in Gladwin County, the daughter of Henry and Marjana (Babcock) Nettleton. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by four sons, Bob (Ellen) Morrison, Harry (Ida Belle) Morrison both of Charlotte, Francis Morrison of Lansing, and Roger (Pat) Morrison of Saginaw; five daughters, Claudia Smith of Quincy, Janice (Donnie) Barnett of Bellevue, Sandra (Harry) Smith of Bronson, Dorothy (Earl) Young of Springport, and Carol Sue (Gordon) Bottomley of Olivet; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 21 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Darwin Kuhl officiating. Interment was in Hunt Cemetery, Calhoun County.
William C. Moist
William C. Moist, 65, of Convis Township died Feb. 11, 1998, at home.
Mr. Moist was born Jan. 11, 1933, in Charlotte, the son of Myron W. and Vera Mae (Russell) Moist. He married Jobie R. Silvas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Moist was employed as a bus driver for Eatran in Eaton County.
He is survived by his wife, Jobie; daughter, Gina Silvas of Charlotte; son, Donald R. Moist of Charlotte; four grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Moist of Charlotte and Robert Moist of Lansing; and sister, Margaret Ford of Grand Ledge.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven C. Moist.
Services were Feb. 13 at the Shaw Funeral Home, with the Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment with military honors was at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.

Ashlyn L. Moon
Ashlyn L. Moon, 8 months, of Bellevue died Aug. 16, 1998 at Bronson Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
She was born November 28, 1997 in Battle Creek the daughter of Daniel and Angela (McCrimmon) Moon, Jr.
She is survived by her parents; a sister, Anissa Moon, at home; grandparents, Penny McCrimmon of Bellevue, Bruce McCrimmon of Hardeeville, S.C., Daniel Moon and Peggy Andrews of Bellevue; great-grandparents, Fred and Myrtle Hinkle of Olivet and Wallace McCrimmon of Vermontville.
Services were held at the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel in Bellevue with Pastor Glenn Wegner officiating. Interment was in East Lawn Memory Gardens in Okemos.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family or to a charity of choice.
Daniel Mooney
Daniel F. Mooney, 77, of Bellevue, died Dec. 17, 1998 at the Battle Creek Health System.
Mr. Mooney was born May 30, 1921 in Bangor, Maine, the son of Patrick and Mary (Shaughnessy) Mooney. He graduated from St. John the Baptist High School in Bangor and attended St. Paul’s Prep School in Long Island, N.Y., on a football, basketball and baseball scholarship. He attended Bodin College until he went to work as a civilian in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked 30 years with Clark Equipment Company in Jackson and retired from the Battle Creek plant as a supervisor in 1977. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Bellevue, and the United Commercial Travelers. He was Bellevue’s Citizen of the Year in 1983 and a member of the Good Samaritan’s.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Glenn; two sons, Daniel (Janet) Mooney Jr. of Leslie and Michael (Carol) Mooney of Battle Creek; six grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Agnes Richard, Julia and Theresa Mooney of Bangor, Maine; a step-daughter, Evelyn (Gary) Whitcomb of Bellevue; and two step-sons, Glenn (Sharon) Fauser of Leslie and Robert (Sally) Fauser of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret, Catherine, and Josephine; and four brothers, John, Tom, Jim and Ed Mooney.
Services were Dec. 21 at St. Ann Catholic Church with Deacon Jim Mathias officiating.

Mary Arvilla Moore
Mary Arvilla Moore, 88, of Lansing, formerly of Charlotte, died June 19, 1998 at Pines Healthcare Center in Lansing.
Mrs. Moore was born Feb. 18, 1910 in Woodland, the daughter of Demorest and Goldie (Mullenix) Early. She married Henry Moore. She was a country school teacher in Beaverton, operated a beauty shop in Bellevue, and was one of the first female airplane pilots.
She is survived by four sons, Henry Jr. and William (Barbara), both of Florida, Floyd (Diane) of Luzerne, and Donald (Shirley) of Beaverton; seven daughters, Henrietta (Estel) Rice of Bellevue, Dorothy (Charles) Powers of Florida, Mary Ellen White of Lansing, Bertha (Robert) Rochester of Arkansas, Cora (Russ) Cain of Lansing, Tina (Jerry) Brophy of Florida, and Sarah Jean (Roger) Zimmerman of Arizona; 150 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Dick Babcock of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Carol Kidder of Charlotte; and an aunt, Tina Dean of Battle Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; one son, Jack; and one daughter, Lillian Babcock.
Services were June 22 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Lansing with the Rev. Donald King officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Milford J. Moore
Milford J. Moore, age 84, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, in Eaton Rapids. Milford was born December 7, 1913 in Eaton Rapids, the son of CJ and Grace (Collar) Moore. Milford was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids. He and his brother were co-owners and operators of Moore Implement Co. for 37 years. Mr. Moore was a former Eaton Rapids City Assessor and former Chairman of the Eaton County Board of Commissioners. He was a Past Master and Life Member of the Eaton Rapids Masonic Lodge #63 F&AM, and life member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Grand Rapids. Milford was one of the charter members of the Eaton Rapids Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merna in 1996.
Surviving are his daughter, Dianne G. (Wayne) Clone of Eaton Rapids; son, Dennis (Gwen) Moore of Atlanta, GA; 4 grandchildren, Colleen (Will) Stephens, Carmen (Eric) Palmer, Michelle Moore, Eric Moore; 3 great-grandchildren, Brianne and Brendan Stephens, Hannah Palmer; brother, Murray (Laura) Moore of Eaton Rapids; aunt, Mildred Alder of IL; sister-in-law, Virginia (Floyd) Peacock of FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 19, 1998, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Tom Evans of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the Eaton Rapids First United Methodist Church or the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital in memory of Milford J. Moore.
