Jack F. Saylor
Jack F. Saylor, 69, of Charlotte died June 10, 1998, at his residence after a short illness.
Mr. Saylor was born in Lansing, the son of Frank and Vera (Schriber) Saylor, and had been a Charlotte resident since 1966, moving here from Texas. He had been employed as a foreman and horse trainer on a horse ranch in Texas before moving to Charlotte, where he was employed by the Owens-Brockway Glass Container Division, retiring in 1990 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Mid-Michigan Draft Horse and Pony Club.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca (Halsey) Saylor; one son, Gary (Audrey) Saylor of Charlotte; two daughters, Sharon (Russ) Worden and Jody Saylor, both of Charlotte; three step-daughters, Tammy Packard of Charlotte, Tina (Tom) Dunsmore of Canada, and Teresa Klaiss of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Keith (Phyllis) Saylor of Haslett and Roger (Cheryl) Saylor of Holt; and three sisters, Betty Dahlhouser of Hastings, Phyllis (Ron) Sanders of Haslett and Delores Hartwick of Lansing.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 15, at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Chuck Moore officiating. Interment will be in the West Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive visitors Sunday, June 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mina Anna Schenck
Mina Anna Schenck, 98, of Charlotte died April 23, 1998 at Richardson Adult Foster Care.
Mrs. Schenck was born April 15, 1900 in Eagle. She was a life member of Charlotte Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Millie Nowall of Charlotte; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; and two sons, Lester Smalley and Leonard Smalley.
Services were May 3 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, with Chuck Jenson officiating. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Dale Allen Schnepp
Dale Allen Schnepp, age 67, of Lansing, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998 in Lansing. Dale was born Aug. 22, 1930 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Leonard and Helen Marie (Baumer) Schnepp. He was formerly a member of the Lansing Credit Management Association, Lansing Accountants Association, Builders Exchange, Lansing Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Coaches Club. After retirement as General Manager for Barker-Fowler Electric, Dale enjoyed creating with stained glass and continued his love of golf. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the Korean Conflict. Dale was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Grimes.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Mickey; 2 daughters, Vickie (Silvestre) Escobar of FL and Cindy (Bryce) Bollwahn of Hartland; 5 grandchildren, Jeremy Werner, Shana Scarborough, Brandon, Aaron and Ashley Bollwahn; brother, Lawrence (Mary) Schnepp of Eaton Rapids; 2 sisters-in-law, Kay (Bill) Love of Delton and Sheila (Jim) Gilpin of Eaton Rapids; 2 brothers-in-law, Larry (Ruth) Gooch of Eaton Rapids and Max Grimes of TN and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on July 18, 1998 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Robert Betts officiating.
Those desiring may make contributions to Motor Neuron Disease Research Fund, University of Michigan (Lou Gherig’s Disease) in memory of Dale Schnepp.
Myron Schroeder
Myron Schroeder, 81, of San Diego, Calif., died May 6, 1998.
Mr. Schroeder attended Michigan State, the University of Virginia, and the University of Michigan. He was an Army captain for four years, and medical administrator. He was a self employed nurseryman/horticulturist/realtor.
He is survived by four children and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet.
Services will be at 5 p.m. June 1 at the St. John’s Episcopal Church, Charlotte. A reception will follow at American Legion Hall.
Albert C. Schumacher
Albert C. Schumacher, 68, of Charlotte passed away Aug. 10, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Schumacher was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Glandorf, Ohio, the son of Wilford and Erma (Scheeter) Schumacher. He married Edna Brennan on Jan. 25, 1963, in Mason. He was a foreman for Oldsmobile, retiring in 1982. Mr. Schumacher was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church, National Trappers Association, and of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; four daughters, Mary (Vincent) Smith, Theresa (Brian) McIntyre, Gloria (Edwin) Forest, and Michelle Schumacher all of Charlotte; three sons, Timothy (Terri) of Lansing, Richard (Tracy) Plotnick of Las Vegas, Nev., and Steven (Linda) Plotnick of Florida; 17 grandchildren; two brothers, Nicholas and Roger; and four sisters, Rita (sister Mary Cleophas), Angela Seyfferle, Eileen Schumacher, and Barbara Galluccio.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard.
Funeral Mass was Aug. 13 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Charlotte, with the Rev. Thomas Nenneau officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Rosary was Aug. 12 at Pray Funeral Home.
Esther J. Scott
Esther J. Scott, age 66, of Englewood, Fla. died Sunday, August 9 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 3, 1932 the oldest daughter of Roy and Fern Twichell. Mrs. Scott retired from Felpausch in Eaton Rapids, MI. She was active in the Polynesian Village Chorus, several card clubs and enjoyed many art & craft activities. Her “laugh” will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; two daughters, Tracy Freeman of Eaton Rapids and Sally Scott of Eastlake, OH; 4 grandchildren, John and Jill Freeman, Ben and Bridgette Swan; and one great-granddaughter, Danielle Freeman who resides in Colorado; 3 brothers, Rex, Neil and Tom Twichell and 1 sister, Florence Twichell.

Vern A. Scott
Vern A. Scott, 77, of Eaton Rapids died Jan. 4, 1998, at a Lansing hospital.
Mr. Scott was born Feb. 28, 1920 in Charlotte the son of Clair A. and Marble A. (Smith) Scott. Vern served in the Air Force during World War II and had successfully flown 16 missions as a Gunner over Europe. He retired from General Motors in Lansing after 21 years of experience.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Coleta; daughter, Pamela (Doug) Smalley of Potterville; one grandson and granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; five step children, Terrence (Sherin) Sailor of Crystal, Rosanne (Chris) Barrett of Summerset Center, Kathryn (Stan) Bolinger of Lansing, Kenneth (Nora) Sailor of Lansing, and Timothy Sailor of Lansing; numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Rena Halsey of Charlotte; two brothers, Archie (Beatrice) Scott of Charlotte and Sherman (Virginia) Scott of Vermontville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Earl; and one sister, Sadie.
Services were Jan. 7, 1998.
He was a wonderful father, husband, grandpa, and friend who will be missed dearly.
Ilah Sellen
Ilah H. Sellen, 87, of Bellevue, died Oct. 21, 1998, at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility, Charlotte.
Mrs. Sellen was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Lansing, the daughter of Rue and Hortense (Kelley) Swift. She came to Bellevue from Charlotte in 1917. She married Clelle Sellen Nov. 14, 1929, in Angola, Ind. She was a member of Bellevue Christian Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Clella Sellen of Bellevue; four sons, Merlin of Battle Creek, and Ronald, Rodney and Charles, all of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Norma Gant and Donna Wood, both of Charlotte, Vera Ramsey of Pleasant Lake, and Rosemary Perkins and Sylvia Craun, both of Vermontville.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; and four brothers, Dr. Lyle Swift, Wayne Swift, Clayton Swift, and Burton Swift.
Services were Oct. 24 at the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Pastor Stephen Covert officiating. Interment was in the Hillsdale Cemetery, Kalamo.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bellevue Christian Center or Eaton County Meals on Wheels.
