Jerome M. Kendra
Jerome M. Kendra, 66, of Charlotte passed away March 15, 1998, in Punta Gorda, Fla.
Mr. Kendra served in the Korean War as a Marine. He was a member of the Charlotte Eagles #3552. He was employed as a manager with A&P for 20 years and a foreman at General Aluminum for 15 years before retiring.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn; two daughters, Pam (Lee) Dingwell, and Sandra (James) Brzycki of Charlotte; and two sons, Randy (Denise) Kendra of Charlotte, and Dennis (Gayle) Kendra of Miami, Fla.; 9 grandchildren; father, Stanley Kendra of Miami, Fla.; two brothers of Muskegon; and one sister of Williamston.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother.
There will be no services at this time.
Devin Lee Dre Kikendall
Devin Lee Dre Kikendall, 6 months, of Charlotte, died Saturday, June 13, 1998.
Devin was born Jan. 7, 1998, in Lansing, the son of Steven Joe and Jennie (Zakora) Kikendall. He is survived by his parents; brother, Dakota Joe; grandparents, Steven and Christine Kikendall of Eaton Rapids, Joe Zakora of Charlotte, and Jamie Southern of Olivet; great-grandparents, Theo Zakora of Charlotte, Richard F. Babcock of Olivet, and Robert and Rena Gillett of Eaton Rapids; great-great-grandmother, Dorothy Powers of Charlotte, and Mary Moore of Lansing; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. William H. Brown officiating. Interment will be in West Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Larry Kilbourn
Larry L. Kilbourn, 35, of Bellevue, formerly of Olivet, Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at the Battle Creek Health System of natural causes.
Mr. Kilbourn was born in Marshall the son of William and Barbara (Andrews) Kilbourn and had been a Bellevue area resident since 1991. He was a graduate of Olivet High School and was employed at Spartan Motors in Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife, Carol A. (Shook); his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Tary White of Bellevue; his father, William of Marble Hill, MO; four sisters, Robin (Doug) Hamilton of Olivet, Sandi (Kyle) Albrecht of Holly, Chris (Dennis) Deater of Grant, and Teresa (Rob Pardee) Saunders of Newago; two stepsisters, Anna (Delbert) Neff of Olivet and Janice White of Jackson; two stepbrothers, Kenneth (Traci) White of Albion and Michael (Mindi) White of Union City; numerous nieces and nephews and his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Anita Shook of Bellevue.
Services were held Nov. 16 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel in Charlotte with the Rev. Ray Talmage officiating. Interment was at Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Mabel R. Kill
Mabel R. Kill, 52, of Bellevue died March 29, 1998, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Kill was born May 14, 1945 in Ionia County, the daughter of Earl and Lula-Belle Ely. She worked as a housekeeper at the Eaton Manor Nursing Home for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Allen; daughter, Tracy Lewis of Castilia, Ohio; two sons, Jeffery of Nashville, and Allen II of Bellevue; four grandchildren; one sister, Mary (Arnold) Preece of Freeport; one brother, Laverne (Carolyn) Ely of Woodland; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were April 1 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Kalamo.
Florence L. Kilpatrick
Florence L. Kilpatrick, 98, of Vermontville died July 11, 1998, at Thornapple Manor.
Mrs. Kilpatrick was born Aug. 23, 1899, in Gibsonburg, Ohio, the daughter of Jacob and Wilhemina (Yack) Faust. She had been employed by Bell Telephone for many years. She was a life member of Kalamo OES #399 and the Vermontville Congregational Church.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Kilpatrick of Vermontville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothea (Verle) Stall of Charlotte; and two brothers, Lloyd Faust of Charlotte and Clarence (Dorothy) Faust of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland, and son, Russell.
Services were July 14 at the First Congregational Church, Vermontville, with the Rev. Eric E. Lison officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Mary King
Mary Geraldine King, 88, of Holt, died Nov. 30, 1998.
Mrs. King was born Sept. 23, 1910, in Crystal, the daughter of Marion and Susan (Caprin) Waldron. She enjoyed playing the kazoo in the Del-Hi-Ho Band of Delhi Township, Holt.
She is survived by one daughter, Aletha (Darwin) Lampman of Charlotte; two sons, Nelson (Dorothy) King of Mason and Walter (Laura) King of Mesa, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1975; a daughter, Mary Slocum in 1986; a son, Dwaine in 1987; and two grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 3 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
Vickie King
Vickie Lynn King, 45, died Nov. 11, 1998 in Lansing. Vickie was born Feb. 11, 1953 in Lansing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David. Surviving are her daughter, April M. (Craig) King-Hodges of Elkton, KY; two sons, Jason King and Nelson King, both of Eaton Rapids; father, Frank H. (Mabel) Rahe of Holt; two brothers, Terry (Barbara) Rahe of Arkansas and Michael Rowley of Lansing; two sisters, Debra Harton of Potterville and Janis (Steve) Perine of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were Friday, Nov. 13, 1998 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Dimondale. Arrangements were by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
R. “Dale” Kiplinger
Russell “Dale” Kiplinger, 85, of Charlotte died Oct. 21, 1998 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility, Charlotte.
Mr. Kiplinger was born April 25, 1913, in Lansing, the son of Clarence and Jessie (Weaver) Kiplinger. He was a farmer, self-employed carpenter, and worked at Fisher Body. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Horace S. Maynard Chapter.
He is survived by three sons, Jack (Doreen), Russell, and Bruce, all of Charlotte; two daughters, Sharon Ells and Nancy (Bill) Morales, both of Charlotte; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Jean) Kiplinger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ester (Jacobs) in 1992.
Services were Oct. 24 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Interment was in Gresham Cemetery.
The Rev. Damon J. Klinger
The Rev. Damon J. Klinger, 27, of Eaton Rapids died March 7, 1998, after having bone cancer and leukemia.
Mr. Klinger was born Dec. 24, 1970, to Jimmy “Lou” and Dianne Klinger in Lansing. The family moved to Eaton Rapids in 1979. He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1989 and Central Michigan University, majoring in political science, in 1993. Mr. Klinger was MHSAA baseball umpire, coached baseball teams and golfers, and became pastor of Truth and Grace Chapel in Lansing. He represented Primerica Financial Services and developed plans for a golf driving range.
He is survived by his sister, Michelle; grandparents, Pastor Leonard and June Bowerman of Lansing and Eva Fackler of Leslie.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alonzo Klinger, and Claud and Gail (Smith) Wightman.
Services were March 11 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
