Clara N. Edwards
Clara N. Edwards, 90, of Battle Creek died May 5, 1998 at home.
Mrs. Edwards was born March 1, 1908 in Barry County, the daughter of Charles and Alice (Garms) Elmendorf. She attended Bellevue area schools and graduated from there in 1926. She married Theo C. Powers on December 27, 1926. She married Ralph D. Edwards on Nov. 10, 1948. She was employed at Kellogg Company from 1942 to 1948 and U.S. Register Company. She was also employed by Sears in Ann Arbor from 1957 until retirement in 1970. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Bellevue Christian Center, formerly the Pentecostal Tabernacle Assembly of God.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice M. St. John and Anna L. Woodmansee of Battle Creek; a son, Charles L. Powers of North Port, Fla.; two step-daughters, Gladys J. Aiken of Battle Creek and F. Marie Mullinax of Iberia, Miss.; two step-sons, Richard H. Edwards of Hastings and Ralph D. Edwards, Jr. of Jackson; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Maynard of Clearwater, Fla., Milburn of Springfield, MO., and Gerald Elmendorf of Nokomis, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Theo; second husband, Ralph; and two sisters, Irene Walker and Lucille Tanner.
Services were May 8 at the Bellevue Christian Center, Bellevue, with the Pastor Stephen Covert officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Good Samaritan Hospice Care.
Harry A. Elliott
Harry A. Elliott, age 90, of Eaton Rapids, died August 4, 1998. He was born August 6, 1907, in Lansing and lived in Aurelius Township most of his life. He was employed at Fisher Body in Lansing for 22 years, retiring in 1968. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Walter, Clare, William and Frank Elliott.
Surviving are his wife, Martha E.; one daughter, Helen (Richard) Bishop of Eaton Rapids and one grandson, Robert.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 8 at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Ball-Dunn Chapel in Mason with the Rev. Elliott Aspinwall, Pastor of Chesaning Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment followed in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason.
Marguerite Elston
Marguerite Jane Elston, 73, of Charlotte, died Dec. 4, 1998 at her residence.
Mrs. Elston was born in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of Frank and Margaret Papoi.
Mrs. Elston is survived by her brothers, David (Karen) Papoi of Lansing and Dennis (JoAnne) Papoi of Okemos; nephews, Christopher Papoi of Grand Ledge, Jason Papoi of Van Nuys, Calif., Craig Smith of Saginaw, and Benjamin (Catherine) Papoi of Lansing; nieces, Arionna Papoi of Chicago, Ill. and Sara Papoi of Tempe, Ariz.; and special friend Wanda Robinson of Stuart, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James and a brother, Richard Papoi.
Services were held Dec. 7 at Pray Funeral Home with the Father Thomas Nenneau officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park in St. Petersburg, Fla. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Eaton County Humane Society.
Lloyd Faust
Lloyd W. Faust, 97, of Vermontville, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte. He was born September 28, 1901 in Gibsonburg, Ohio, the son of Jacob and Wilhemina Frederica Yack.
He was a resident of this area most of his life, coming to Michigan when he was two years old. He attended the Wells Country School and married Merna Hawes in Sunfield on August 22, 1927. He was a farmer, a fireman for steam locomotive on the Michigan Central Railroad in 1922, during World War II he was a tool & Die maker and a machine repairman, and in 1946 was a cabinet maker and carpenter, retiring in 1963. He belonged to the Michigan Steam Engine Club, the Vermontville Congregational Church, and enjoyed antiques. He was preceded by his wife, Merna in 1992, and two sisters, Blanche Minich and Florence Kilpatrick. Surviving are one brother, Clarence Faust of Lake Odessa; sister, Dorothea Stall of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral was held Friday, 1:00 p.m. at the Maple Valley Chapel with Rev. Eric Lison officiating. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermontville. Memorial donations can be made to the Vermontville Congregational Church.
Lottie M. Fetterman
Lottie M. Fetterman, 88, of Charlotte died Feb. 23, 1998.
Mrs. Fetterman was born Dec. 19, 1909, in Eaton County, the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Taylor) Hale. She worded for Charlotte Chair Factory as an upholster. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Charlotte, and the Charlotte Senior citizens Organization; former member of the Bellevue Whirl-aways and the Charlotte Kitchen Band.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ireta (Richard) Tate and Sandra (Jan) Skrip both of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Florence Davids and Beulah Jensen both of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; son, Glenn LeRoy.
Services were Feb. 27 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Dr. Peter R.K. Brenner and Rev. Mark Booth officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Lansing.
Bailey R. Fletcher
Bailey Rae Fletcher, 2, of Charlotte died Jan. 29, 1998, at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte.
Bailey was born Nov. 7, 1995, in Lansing
She is survived by her parents, Diane Smith and Michael Fletcher of Charlotte; her grandparents, Dennis and Linda smith, Debbie and Jeff Scott, all of Charlotte, and Dawn and David Fletcher of Ionia; her great-grandparents, Aubrey and Kathlyen Smith of East Tawas, Doug and Cheri Rae Smith of Charlotte, Harvey Fletcher of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Virgil and Bev Ray of Charlotte; and her great-great-grandparents, Frances Overmyer of Charlotte, Dean Glasslee of Ohio, and Lena Fletcher of West Palm Beach.
Services were Feb. 2 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Thomas Peters officiating. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Phyllis Jean Fletcher
Phyllis Jean Fletcher, 71, of Farwell died May 24, 1998.
Mrs. Fletcher was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Charlotte, the daughter of LaVerne and Clara (Goodnoe) Hack. She was a member of O.E.S. Chapter in Clare and a life member of Job’s Daughters.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas of Farwell; two sons, David (Laura) Fletcher of Flint, and Mark (Joanne) Fletcher of Mulliken; one daughter, Cheryl L. Wilkie of Traverse City; one sister, Beverly Howard of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Donis (Clement) Miner of Owosso, and Frances DeBar of Lakeview, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Services were May 27 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Tom Ball officiating. Interment was in Gresham Cemetery.

Douglas LeRoy Foreback
Douglas LeRoy Foreback, 53, of Charlotte died July 1, 1998.
Mr. Foreback was born in Lansing, the son of Maynard and Hazel (King) Foreback. He was a cook at the Eaton Place Restaurant in Charlotte.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis Foreback of Edmore, and Donald Scott Foreback of Sheridan; three brothers, Dennis, Danny Lee and David Foreback, all of Lansing; lifetime companion, Jerry Welsh; and three grandchildren.
Services were July 6 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Richard Gleason officiating. Interment was in Gunnison Cemetery.
Gladys I. Fowler
Gladys I. Fowler, 96, of Eaton Rapids died July 27, 1998 at her home.
Mrs. Fowler was born July 19, 1902, in Lum, the daughter of the Rev. Archie and Addie (Sisson) Scott. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Charlotte and a former member of the Charlotte Country Club.
she is survived by a son, R. Lynn (Shirley) Fowler of Naples, Fla.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
she was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Rice Charles; and three sisters, Blanche, Jenny and Eva.
services were July 31 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Peter R.K. Brenner officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
