Eunice G. Edson
Eunice G. Edson, 89, of Charlotte died April 24, 1998 at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Edson was born in Conway, the daughter of Fred and Grace (Britten) Beduhn. She had been a Charlotte residence since 1934. She was a 1927 graduate of Webberville High School. Mrs. Edson was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, past member of the Charlotte O.E.S. #218, past member of the Charlotte Business Women’s Guild, and had been a member of the Laugh A Lot Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Deonne (Edward) Towe of Woodinville, Wash., and Evonne Kettner of Charlotte; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gladys Beduhn; and three nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William DuRay Edson; and two brothers, Carlton and Forrest Beduhn.
Graveside services were April 27 at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte. Arrangements were made by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions go to the Hayes Green Beach Hospital of Charlotte.
Beatrice M. Fox
Beatrice M. Fox, age 98, died Monday, December 21, 1998. Beatrice was born June 19, 1900 in Charlotte the daughter of Edward Haines and Lulu Belle (Reed) Leightner. She was a long time resident of Eaton Rapids. Mrs. Fox was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, in 1989.
Surviving are her daughter, Winifred Sanders of Lansing; 2 sons, Dale (Mary) Fox of Eaton Rapids, Willard (Winifred) Fox of Dimondale; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 24, 1998 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, with Dr. Alan Malcolm officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the Hamlin Twp. Fire Department in memory of Beatrice Fox.
Joshuah Frost
Joshuah W. Frost, 23, of Lee Township, Marshall, died in a single car accident on Thursday, Dec. 10, 1009 in Lee Township.
Mr. Frost was born Nov. 9, 1975 in Charlotte to Kenneth Guy and Sandra (Cole) Frost. He has lived in the Lee Township/Olivet area all of his life. He was a 1993 graduate of Olivet High School and a member of the football team during his high school years. He was married Aug. 16, 1997, in Charlotte to Courtney Sloan. He has worked at Balkema Excavating in Kalamazoo for the past three months previously he was employed at Johnson Systems in Marshall for 3 ½ years. He was a member of United Construction Workers Local #10, Christian Labor Association. He most enjoyed being with family and friends. He liked to play ice hockey, computer games, and did some hunting. He also played in the Olivet City Coed Summer Softball League.
Surviving are his wife, Courtney; a son, Jedediah Frost of Marshall; a sister, Kendra Frost of Marshall; two brothers, Kevin Frost and Keith Frost both of Olivet; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Cole of Midland and Georgana Cole of Alma; a paternal grandmother, Helen Frost of Charlotte; a niece, Mika Kleinfeldt; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Frost in April 1992; a half-brother, Ben Pearce in 1991; paternal grandfather, Charles Frost, Sr.; and an uncle, Charles Frost, Jr.
Services were held at the Kempf Funeral Home on Dec. 14 with the Rev. Richard Collins of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson.
Barbara A. Fuhrman
Barbara A. Fuhrman, 64, of Charlotte died Feb. 20, 1998, at her home following a long battle with cancer.
Barbara was born June 14, 1933 in Charlotte, the daughter of William P. and Florence M. (Anderson) Barnaart. Following retirement from the Michigan Department of Social Services in 1992, she enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing and making crafts. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl R. (Don) Howe, Katherine A. (Jim) Martin, and Diane M. Pfeifer, all of Charlotte; son, Paul W. (Deb) Archer of Holland; mother, Florence M. Barnaart of Charlotte; six grandchildren; two brothers, William P. Barnaart, Jr. of Plymouth and Chuck (Betty) Barnaart of Vermontville; and brother-in-law, Ken Burns of Dimondale.
She was preceded in death by her father, William P. Barnaart; sister, Martha L. Burns; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Barnaart.
Services were Feb. 23 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment of cremains will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Charlotte Band Booster or the Eaton Community Hospice.
Neal W. Fuller
Neal William Fuller, 36, of Potterville died Aug. 9, 1998.
Mr. Fuller was born Nov. 4, 1961 in St. Johns, the son of Louis H. and Marion (Baker) Fuller. He worked as a cable sub-contractor and thoroughly enjoyed life.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandy of Georgia; father and stepmother, Louis (Dorothy) Fuller of Nashville; mother and stepfather, Marion (Bernard) Pelto of Escanaba; three brothers, Roger (Mary) of Lansing, Bruce Fuller of Mason, and Roy (Wendy) Fuller of Mason; sister, Lisa (Abel) Anzaldua of Potterville; stepbrothers, Randy Pelto and Ron Winters; stepsister, Susan (Bill) Vance; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services were Aug. 12 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to a fund for his daughter.
Rebecca L. Gaedert
Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Gaedert, 26, of Lansing, formerly of Charlotte, died Sept. 2, 1998.
Ms. Gaedert was born Feb. 10, 1972, in Lansing.
She is survived by two sons, Che’ Anthony and his father, Wayne, and C.J.; and her father, John (Roxanne) Gaedert of Charlotte; her mother, Barbara of Mackinaw Island; stepfather, James (Melanie) Smith of Lansing; two sisters, Brinda (Gary) Ridenour of Charlotte and Cindy (Pat) Gaedert-Wing of Bellevue; two brothers, John Gaedert Jr. of Charlotte and James smith of Lansing; her grandparents, Don and Natalie Gaedert of Roscommon, Arthur and Beverly Belluomini of Grand Rapids, Dale (Eleanor) Cloar and Dolores Cloar, all of Florida, and Steve Gulch of Baldwin; one nephew, Gary Ridenour Jr.; and special friends, Linda and Wayne Woods and family of Lansing.
Services were Sept. 5 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Peter R.K. Brenner officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to a fund established for her sons.
Kenneth L. Garland
Kenneth L. Garland, 53, of Olivet, formerly of Benton Harbor, died March 3, 1998 at his residence.
Mr. Garland was born March 5, 1944, in Benton Harbor to Andrew and Faye (Head) Garland. He had been employed at Superior Steel Casting, Benton Harbor; Whirlpool Corporation, St. Joseph; and Denso Manufacturing, Battle Creek. He was a member of Coloma Masonic Lodge No. 162, Saladin Temple, Grand Rapids, Scottish Rite Valley of Grand Rapids, Berrien County Shrine, Coloma Eastern Star, Berrien Country Mini Bikers, and Berrien County Low 12 Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Sirk; three sons, Kenneth (Valeri) Garland Jr. of Watervliet, Thomas Garland of Olivet, and Mark (Karen) Garland of Battle Creek; his mother, Faye Garland of Jonesboro, Ark.; four brothers, Wayne (Mary)Garland of Saint Amant, Louisiana, Lanny (Wendy) Garland of Belleville, and Jeff (Trudi) Garland and Robert (Pam) both of Jonesboro; one sister, Brenda (William) Overman of Davison; four grandchildren; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Mary Sirk of Alexandria, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Kathy (James) Phipps of Anderson, Ind., and Janice (Michael) Lowery of Sulphur Springs, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
Masonic Rites by Coloma Lodge No. 162 were held March 7 at Fairplain Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, Benton Harbor. Burial was in Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
Helen L. Gearhart
Helen L. Gearhart, 80, of Sunfield passed away May 27 at her caregiver’s residence in Lake Odessa.
Mrs. Gearhart was born Aug. 18, 1917, daughter of Herbert and Nina (Swick) Hyde. She was employed at Hastings Manufacturing for 27 years, retiring in 1977. She was a licensed telephone operator, also held a certificate for the training program for attendant nurses from the Michigan Department of Mental Health. She married Floyd Gearhart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; her mother and father; and one brother, William Hyde.
Services were May 29 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield, with the Rev. George Speas officiating. Interment was in Sunfield Cemetery.

Kurt Gemalsky
Kurt Gemalsky, 76, of Charlotte, died Nov. 9, 1998, in Mount Dora, Fla.
Mr. Gemalsky was born April 21, 1922 in Germany, the son of Julius and Emma (Keehn) Gemalsky. He worked for Michigan State Treasury Department and was Executive Director Income Tax Division. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Normandy and German campaigns. He was a member of the Charlotte VFW #2406 and Charlotte Country Club.
He is survived by three sisters, Ella Ewing, Gertrude Norris, and Hildegarde Fink; and two brothers, Leon and Ronald.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 1997; one son, Neil in 1996; one sister, Leatha McKenzie; and two brothers, Gayhardt and Irvin.
Memorial services are Friday, December 4, at 11:00 a.m., at the Charlotte VFW #2406 with the Rev. Duane Royston officiating.
