Florence Davids

Florence Davids, 93, of Charlotte died Nov. 23, 1998.

Mrs. Davids was born Sept. 15, 1905, in Chester Township, the daughter of Charles and Bertha Hale. She was known to many as a cook at Jay’s Sandwich shop and also at The Depot Restaurant in Charlotte.

She is survived by two sons, Merle (Rose) Ackworth, Ga., and Larry (Sandy) of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Beulah Jensen of Charlotte; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard in 1962; her mother, Bertha Hale in 1977; one son, Donald in 1976; and her sister, Lottie Fetterman in 1998; and one brother, Darwin Hale in 1970.

Services were Nov. 25 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Edwin Visscher officiating. Interment was in the Needmore Cemetery, Chester Township.

Donna M. Davidson

Donna M. Davidson, 76, of Bellevue died March 5, 1998, at the Battle Creek Health System.

Mrs. Davidson was born May 21, 1921, in Augusta, the daughter of Albert and Lulu (Gibson) Germain. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and married Virgil L. Davidson on March 14, 1941 in Bryan, Ohio. She was employed in the packing department of Kellogg’s and worked as a clerk at Woolworth. Mrs. Davidson also ran a resort, restaurant and party store in Munising from 1956-90. She was a member of the Bellevue-Olivet O.E.S. Chapter #196.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil; son, Ronald L. Davidson of Jackson; two grandchildren; sister, Helen Huntington of Bellevue; five step-brothers; and one step-sister.

Services were March 7 at the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with the Rev. Darwin Kuhl officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Donna Davis

Donna Jean Davis, 71, of Grand Ledge, formerly of Potterville, died Dec. 18, 1998.

Mrs. Davis was born Jan. 28, 1927 in Ingham County, the daughter of Paul and Valeria (Mullin) George. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Christina Lloyd of Grand Ledge; one son, David Davis of Charlotte; one step-daughter, Kay Roper of Sunfield; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mary Ann Strahle and Frances Pasch, both of Lansing, Margaret Caldwell of Ga., and Delores Trader of Howard City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon in 1976; one brother, Thomas George in 1989; and one sister, Patricia Backus in 1995.

Services were Dec. 21 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Ionia. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home.

Glenn P. Davis

Glenn Patrick “Teddy Bear” Davis, 45, of Ludington died Aug. 16, 1998 at his home.

Mr. Davis was born Nov. 10, 1952, in Pigeon. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW in Pigeon.

He is survived by two daughters, Heather and Stephanie, both of Ludington; his parents, Bernice and Frank Vealey of Webberville, Carl and Darlene Davis of Charlotte; five sisters, Beth (Tom) Hoeffs of Dansville, April Fountain (Gene) Sebula of Webberville, Diane (Kevin) Webster of Williamston, Tracy (Dennis) Putman of Charlotte, and Joyce (Ryan) Goetz of Webberville; three brothers, Bob Davis (Lori Kinnick) of Howell, Tom (Cindy) Davis of Mason and Barry (Pam) Davis of Webberville; three step-brothers, Skip (Jamie) Clark of Lansing, Randy (Lisa) Clark of Charlotte, and Dan (Amy) Clark of Charlotte.

Graveside services were held at Alchin Cemetery in Webberville with the Rev. Fr. Dan McKeon of St. Mary’s Catholic Church officiating.

Nancy (Jensen) Dawley

Nancy (Jensen) Dawley of 7046 Firmament Ave., Van Nuys, CA 91406 (formerly of Eaton Rapids) passed away at Emino Hospital on November 23, 1998. She was born June 9, 1946 and was a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School.

Surviving are husband, Richard; daughter, Carrie Dawley; son, Cory (Tatiana) Dawley; granddaughter, Melany Dawley all from Van Nuys, CA.

No services were held.

William F. Demmler Sr.

William F. Demmler Sr., 74, of Charlotte died March 28, 1998, at the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital.

Mr. Demmler was born March 16, 1924, the son of George and Elizabeth (Neal) Demmler in Ashland, Ken. He married Clara Burner in 1947. He was a resident of Eaton Rapids, where he was a Scout leader for many years. He took part in World War II as a member of U.S. Army.

He is survived by one daughter, Karen (Walter) Krumm of Charlotte; one son, William Jr. (Deborah) of Richwood, Va.; six grandchildren; and close friend, Pearl Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara in 1981, and two sisters, Lucille King and Helen Brennan.

Services were held in Ashland, with arrangements made by the Liverance Funeral Home, Fowlerville.

Robert A. Denman

Robert A. Denman, age 77, of Dimondale died Tuesday, December 1, 1998 at a Lansing hospital. Born February 28, 1921 in Marion, MI the son of Robert J. and Pauline (Corwin) Denman. Mr. Denman was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He retired after 36 years of service with Associated Truck Lines of Lansing, was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Eaton Rapids and the VFW Post #701 of Lansing. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia; 4 children; Linda (Robert) Meyer of Woodville, OH, Pat (Tim) Oliver of Eaton Rapids, Robert Michael Denman of Lima, OH, and David John (Marie) Denman of Eaton Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, William (Maxine) Denman of Lakeview and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass was held Friday, December 4th at St. Peter Church in Eaton Rapids with burial at the Dimondale Cemetery. A rosary was recited Thursday evening at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring, a memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Robert A. Denman.

Lionginas Dieninis

Rev. Father Lionginas Dieninis, 88, of Charlotte, formerly of Gaylord, died Oct. 17, 1998.

Rev. Dieninis was born March 14, 1910 in Lithuania, and was ordained June 11, 1939. He served in parishes in Grand Haven, Muskegon and Manistee of the Grand Rapids Diocese and the parishes of St. Thomas Aquinas in Elmira and St. Ann in Harrisville, and Mission Churches St. Raphael in Mikado and St. Francis of Assisi in Glennie of the Gaylord Diocese of the Catholic Church, until his retirement in August of 1985.

He is survived by two brothers, Petras and Juozas Dieninis; two nephews in Lithuania, and his special friends, Anna Drabczyk of Charlotte, Frank (Sandy) Drabczyk, Jr., and Anthony (Ann) Drabczyk of Grand Rapids and Diane Maihofer of Olivet.

Services were held Oct. 20 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Charlotte with the Most Rev. Patrick Cooney of Gaylord celebrating.

Maybelle M. Dillingham

Maybelle M. Dillingham, age 98, born June 7, 1900 in Sioux City, Iowa died Sunday, November 15, 1998 at her daughter’s residence in Ft. Wayne, IN. Maybelle married Ben Bradish in 1921, he preceded her in death. Two sons preceded her in death, Robert Earl and Donald Edwin and one daughter also, Ruth Joyce Bradish Brown. In 1942 she married Mark Dillingham, he preceded her in death in 1962. Mrs. Dillingham had lived in the Eaton Rapids area from 1935 to the late 1960’s and most recently with her daughter in Fort Wayne.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce; and several grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren including granddaughter, Cathy Hendrickson of Eaton Rapids.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, November 18th, at the Munger Cemetery in rural Eaton Rapids with Pastor Loris Allen officiating. The family was served through the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
