Vivian L. Dillingham
Vivian L. Dillingham, age 63, died Wednesday, October 14, 1998, in Lansing. Vivian was born June 22, 1935 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Ivan Forrest and Martha Mary (Depker) Baldwin. She was a member of the Aurelius Baptist Church and the Eaton Rapids Senior Center. Vivian was a Registered Nurse with the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital and Greater Lansing Visiting Nurses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1996; daughter, Deborah K. Brantley, in 1995; 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Baldwin and Norma Kozma.
Surviving are 2 daughters, June Young of Dimondale, Penny Griffin of Lansing; 2 sons, Mark (Lori) Dillingham of Holt, John D. Dillingham of Chicago; 7 grandchildren; brother, Bud (Ilo) Baldwin of Eaton Rapids; 2 sisters, Deloras Hudson of Jackson, Arlene Love of Clinton and brother-in-law, James Kozma of Brighton.
Funeral services were held Saturday October 17, at the Shelly Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Stephen Aikin, Pastor of the Aurelius Baptist Church officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to the Aurelius Baptist Church in memory of Vivian L. Dillingham.
Otto L. Dillon
Otto L. Dillon, 65, of Baytown, Texas, formerly of Charlotte, died Feb. 6, 1998, at the Diagnostic Center Hospital, Houston, Texas after a long illness.
Mr. Dillon was born in Charlotte the son of Myrl and Effie (Shumaker) Dillon and had lived in Texas for about 40 years. He had been employed as a Safetyman in the Building Construction Trade.
He is survived by his wife, Morna (Farr) Dillon; four daughters, Dixie (Dick) Lobsinger of Grayling, Penney (Ed) Stevenson of Zephyr, Texas, Vicky Jackson of Baytown, Texas, and Candace Medeiros of Grayling; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanona (Bill) Hathcox of Arizona and Marlene (Ed) Brummette of Charlotte; and two brothers, Duane Dillon of Grayling and James (Judy) Dillon of Olivet.
Services and Interment was Feb. 10 at the Deepdale Cemetery Chapel, Lansing, with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Arrangements were made by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter of Crawford County, Grayling.
Wilbur Dimond
Wilbur “Elmer” Dimond, 70, of Charlotte, died Nov. 5, 1998.
Mr. Dimond was born April 23, 1928 in Eaton County. He was the son of Arlie and Adeline (Carter) Dimond. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Charlotte.
He is survived by his half-brother, Earl Carter of Eaton Rapids; niece and nephew, Linda Cruz of Potterville and Dan Carter of Eaton Rapids; cousins, Flora May O’Neil, Joyce Summer and Karen King, and several other cousins.
Services were held Nov. 9 at the Charlotte Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment was at Needmore Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home.
Frances Domangue
Frances M. Domangue, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Charlotte, died Nov. 21, 1998.
Mrs. Domangue was born on July 7, 1920, in Battle Creek to William and Emeline Charland.
Surviving are her husband, Leon (Tony); two daughters, Pam Slaughter of Lansing and Julie (Jerry) Fielder of Charlotte; one son, Mike of Granby, Colo.; one step-son, Wayne of Houma, La.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edd and Williard; and a sister-in-law, Rose.
No services were held.
Madeline M. Donald
Madeline M. Donald, 82, of Charlotte died March 8, 1998.
Mrs. Donald was born June 19, 1915 in Lansing, the daughter of Hubert and Hanna (Glassbrook) Reed. She worked as a stock clerk for Michigan Magnetics for 25 years, retiring in 1978. She was a former member of the Nashville Baptist Church and formerly involved in Charlotte’s Grandma’s Bowling League.
She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Nola (Harold) Whitaker of Nashville, and Pauline (Arthur) Adkins of Etowah, NC; two sons, Larry (Phyllis) Belcher of Vermontville, and Gary (Becky) Belcher of Nashville; two step daughters, Lyn (Gean) Sheets, and Glenda (Gary) Ruff both of Lansing; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and five step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, LaVern Belcher; two brothers, Hubert Reed and Robert Reed; two sisters, Juanita Toman and Thelma Pangle; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Services were March 11 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment was at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Chester R. Doty
Chester R. Doty, 80, of Charlotte died Feb. 16, 1998.
Mr. Doty was born April 28, 1917, in Alma, the son of Fenon and Laura Doty. He was a mold maker at Johnson Iron Industry.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Ronald) Hyatt and Debra (Tim) Brown both of Lansing; three sons, Mike (Leora) Doty and Jerry Doty both of Charlotte, and Peter Doty of Lansing; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Pennington of West Unity, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nuncietta.
Services were Feb. 19 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Father Bill Lugger officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Heavenly Doty
Heavenly Ann Doty, 20, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Wednesday, October 28, as a result of an automobile accident. Miss Doty was born September 29, 1978 in Charlotte, Michigan, the daughter of Leon D. Doty and Tamara Butler. She worked for Subway and attended the Church of Faith in God. She is survived by her daughter Dakota, fiancé Kirk Newland of Charlotte; father, Leon (Louann) Doty of Kalamazoo; mother, Tamara (Dick Strickland) Webb of Charlotte; sister, Candy Doty of Jacksonville, NC; brother, Michael Webb of Charlotte; grandparents, Dale and Naida Doty of Charlotte, Lester and Shirley Brimmer of Charlotte; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 2, 1998, at 1:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Knauff officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte, MI. Visitations on Saturday 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Family has requested memorial contributions be made for Miss Doty’s daughter Dakota. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Kimberly K. Downey
Kimberly K. (Sorenson) Downey, 37, of Columbus, Ohio, died Jan. 12, 1998.
Mrs. Downey was born in Royal Oak, the daughter of Walter and Kay Sorenson of Charlotte. She was employed by Columbus State.
She is survived by her mother, Kay Sorenson of charlotte; father, Walter, (Beverly) Sorenson of Lansing; daughter, Heather Downey of Columbus, Ohio; son, Paul Downey of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Karla (Sean) Duffey of Jackson; brother, Kirk (Gilda) Sorenson of Grand Rapids.
Services were Jan. 6 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Mike Knauff officiating.
Birtus “Bill” L. Dunbar
Birtus “Bill” L. Dunbar, 81, of Eaton Rapids died March 6, 1998, in Lansing.
Mr. Dunbar was born June 13, 1916 in Caldwell, Kent., the son of Birtus L. and Mary E. (Hazzard) Dunbar, Sr. He retired from McLouth Steel in Detroit in 1978 after 33 years of service.
He is survived in death by his wife, Susie of Eaton Rapids; one daughter, Dorotha (Tom) Meadows of Providence, Kent.; one step daughter, Marie (Terry) Thompson of Texas; one step son, Red (Lori) Adams of Eaton Rapids; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter, two step grandsons; one step granddaughter; three step great-grandchildren; and sister, Imogene (Cortez) Easley of Preston, Kent.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris.
Services were March 8 at the Little Vinyard Church in Eaton Rapids and at the Melton Funeral Home in Providence, Kent. Interment was at the Fox Cemetery, Kentucky. Arrangements were made by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
