Betty M. Loveland
Betty M. Loveland, 67, of Lake Odessa (Jordan Lake), formerly of Bellevue and Battle Creek, died Friday, August 21, 1998, at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Loveland was born in Bellevue, the daughter of Earl and Lucy Kelly and was a graduate of Bellevue High School.
She is survived by her husband, Dale; two daughters, Beth Upton of Battle Creek and Trudy Lehman of Olivet; three sons, Lewis Pulsipher of Linden, N.C., James Pulsipher of Sterling, Va., and Michael Loveland of Charlotte; one sister, Louise Dolph of Bellevue; one brother, Vaughn (Dorothy) Kelly of Traverse City; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Pulsipher in November 1962.
Services were August 25 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Dennis Dubendorf officiating. Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery, Leroy Township, Calhoun County.

Alvin “Al” Lung
Alvin Lung of Eaton Rapids died at age 82 on July 16, 1998 at Lone Pine Foster Care Home in Charlotte. Alvin was born on March 6, 1916 in West Plains, MO. He was the youngest of seven children. Alvin joined the U.S. Air Force and went to school to become an airplane mechanic. After service, he moved his family to South Bend, IN and worked at Studabakers as a metal finisher until their closing in 1957. He then moved to Eaton Rapids and worked at Allied Products until their closure. Alvin then worked at the Oldsmobile plant in Lansing until retiring. He was a life member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Ethel; daughter, Beverly (Charles) Woods; grandson, Scott (Rachelle) Owen and great-grandson, Jesse Alvin Owen, all of Eaton Rapids and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on July 20, 1998 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Robert Betts officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Carl Kyser, George Canfield, Butch Hall, Norm Hyatt, Chuck Woods, Bill Owen and Scott Owen.

J. Max Lynch
J. Max Lynch, 70, of Charlotte died June 22, 1998, at his residence.
Mr. Lynch was born Dec. 18, 1927 in Ft. Wayne, Ind., the son of Fred and Olive (Vance) Lynch. He married Joyce Olmstead June 3, 1950, in Bellevue. He worked as an administrative manager for Farhat, Story & Kraus, PC, until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Lynch was a life member and Past Master of Kalamo Lodge 327, F&AM; past member of Lansing Accountant Association; past president of Lansing Chapter of Legal Administrators Association; member of Gold Wing Road Riders Association and the Michigan Two-Cylinder Club.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons, Craig (Patti) Lynch of Coldwater, and Gary (Tammy) Lynch of Belmont; one daughter, Lori (Mike) Greengard of Ada; seven grandchildren; and “adopted” brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Jean Geist.
He has been cremated. A Family Affirmation Service was June 27 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Eaton Community Hospice, American Diabetes Association, or Saladin Shrine Foundation for Children.
Betty McCartney
Betty May McCartney, 72, of Charlotte, died Oct. 5, 1998, at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility.
Mrs. McCartney was born Feb. 4, 1926, in Charlotte, the daughter of Walt and Beulah (Preadmore) Pruden.
She was a supervisor for the Eaton County Historical Commission, retiring in August 1993. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary #2406 and #6034.
She is survived by five sons, Leo (Bonnie) Farr of South Carolina, Walter Farr of Vermontville, Charles (Jean) Farr of Texas, Roger McCartney of Crystal, and Ricky (Peggy) McCartney of Charlotte; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a step daughter, Carol Anderson of Gaylord; and three brothers, Mel (Ellen) Pruden and Roger (Jackie) Pruden of Charlotte and Roy (Dorothy) Pruden of Edmore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George McCartney in 1981.
Services were Oct. 9 at the Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with the Rev. Martin Saunders officiating.
Mildred McCormick
Mildred McCormick, age 89, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, in Dimondale. Mildred was born March 15, 1909, in Webberville, the daughter of Henry D. and Arline G. (Gear) Matthiesen. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids and the Mariam Circle. Mildred was a member of the Eaton Rapids Home & Garden Club, the U & I Club and volunteered with the American Red Cross at the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital. She was also a member of the L&L Club and the Eaton Rapids Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell D. and sister, Christine Crandall.
Surviving are her 3 sons, Richard A. (Marilyn) McCormick of FL, James R. (Betty) McCormick of Lansing, William D. (Wendy) McCormick of OR; 5 grandchildren, Denise Daiss, James (Cindy) McCormick II all of Eaton Rapids, Jill (Robert) Simon of DeWitt, Christopher and Cara McCormick of OR; 7 great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Christie and Tracie Daiss, James III and Megin McCormick, Katelyn and Kortney Simon; sister, Cleo Darnell of Dimondale; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 20, 1998, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Tom Evans officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to either the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital in memory of Mildred McCormick.
Georgia E. McCrimmon
Georgia E. McCrimmon, 79, of Charlotte died May 12, 1998.
Mrs. McCrimmon was born Jan. 28, 1919, in Paulding, Ohio, the daughter of Alford and Amy (Moore) Wolf. She worked at Eaton Manor Nursing Home.
She is survived by six children, Judy McCrimmon of Niles, James (Lorraine) McCrimmon of Louisiana, Janet Smith of Dimondale, Nancy White, Ronald (Sharon) McCrimmon, and Sue Thayer, all of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia (Warren) Huss and Anita Salyer both of Camden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy McCrimmon.
Services were May 14 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Doug Hammond officiating. Interment was in Kalamo Cemetery.

Agnes McKean
Agnes L. (Milbourne) McKean, 93, formerly of Charlotte, died Dec. 24, 1997, at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility, Okemos.
Mrs. McKean was born Marcy 21, 1904, in Lee Township, Calhoun County, the daughter of Harry and Aurabelle (Conant) Milbourne. She had been a Charlotte resident from 1955-85 before moving to Lansing. She was a retired dietary supervisor at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte, with over 20 years of service. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Charlotte. After retirement, she was a volunteer for the Michigan Heart Association and the Eaton County Unit of the American Cancer Society, driving patients to Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Detroit for treatment. She received awards and donated things to bazaars. She married Leonard McKean Sept.11, 1925.
She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte (Richard) Miller of Farwell, Alice (Warren) DeLong of Lansing, and Ruthmary McKean of Lansing; one son, Joe (Debi) of Hohenwald, Tenn.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, and one son and daughter-in-law, Dudley and Winnie McKean, in 1994.
Services were Dec. 29 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Peter Brenner officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Charlotte, Ingham County Medical Care Facility of Okemos, or a charity of one’s choice.
Thomas McLane
The Rev. Thomas R. McLane, 58, of Olivet died Oct. 19, 1998, in Gunnison, Colo., where he was stricken while on an elk hunting trip.
The Rev. McLane was born in Charlotte, the son of Owen and Marguerite (Patrick) McLane. He was the minister of the Faith Assembly of God, Olivet, where he has served for five years. He had previously served the Pentecostal Church of God in Alba; Faith Tabernacle in Springfield, Ohio; Calvary Pentecostal Church of God, Bay City; Victory Tabernacle in Clio; and Grayling Assembly of God. He had also served as camp director for the district office Assemblies of God at FA-HO-LO Camp at Grass Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Jalufka) to whom he was married Aug. 11, 1962, in Houston, Texas; three sons, Thomas (Marla) Luverne, Ala., Scott (Rachael) of Olivet, and Todd (Christa) of Olivet; a daughter, Kathy L. McLane of Shelby, N.C.; two grandsons, Alex and Andrew; five sisters, Jane Farley of Bellevue, Joline McLane and Lonna (Lester) Bruder, both of Tower, and Coralyn (Gordon) Sixberry and Julie (Bernard) Hall, both of Charlotte; six brothers, Patrick (Sarah) of Michigan City, Ind., Richard (Deloris) of St. Louis; Michael (Nancy) of St. Johns; David (Jody) of Rochester, Ind., and Carroll (Jean) and Terry (Louise), both of Charlotte.
Services were Monday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Faith Assembly of God, 9800 S. Cochran Rd., Olivet.

Elwood G. McLeod
Elwood Gordon McLeod, 74, of Charlotte, died Thursday, Sept. 3, at Sparrow Health System.
Mr. McLeod was born May 22, 1924, in Woodland, the son of Gilbert and Lydia (Garlinger) McLeod. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a supervisor for child support for the State of Michigan at the time of his retirement. He was a member and past district governor of Lions Club of Charlotte; VFW Maple City Post; American Legion and Disabled American Veterans; Charlotte Country Club; and Lansing Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis; one daughter, Martha (Richard) Neilsen of Grand Ledge; three sons, Brian (Jean) of Lansing, Scott (Kathy) of Charlotte, Kevin (Norma) of Potterville; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica and Jerrilyn McLeod of Lansing, Lindsay McLeod of Charlotte, Marci McLeod of Potterville and Matt Neilsen of Grand Ledge.
Services were Sept. 8 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with the Rev. Peter Brenner officiating. Interment was at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
