Bruce Priddy
Bruce Paul Priddy, 86, of Charlotte went home to be with his Lord Oct. 18, 1998 at Sparrow Health System.
Mr. Priddy was born Jan. 27, 1912 in Indiana, the son of Lawrence and Mina (Farrell) Priddy.
He married Carolyn Hatfield on May 21, 1932, his wife of 66 years. He was a farmer on his own farm, a maple syrup producer for 25 years, a carpenter and was active in Bismarck Farm Bureau Group. He attended Vermontville Bible Church and was an avid shuffleboard player and baseball fan.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Louise (Terry) McLane of Charlotte and Claudette (Darrell) Hamilton of Nashville; a son, Duane (Donna) Priddy of Midland; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Kimes of Arkansas and Beulah (Glendon) Flory of Ionia; two brothers, Lloyd (Eunice) Priddy and Kenneth (Dorothy) Priddy and Kenneth (Dorothy) Priddy both of Nashville.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Fredline and Opal Heffley.
Services were held Oct. 22 at the Vermontville Bible Church. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Franklin L. Prindle
Franklin L. Prindle, formerly of Charlotte, died Feb. 19, 1998, at the University of Arkansas Medical Science Medical Center, Little Rock, Ark.
He was the son of Jay and Harriet Prindle. In 1942, he married Doris Dillin. He had been a minister of the Gospel since 1943. Both Prindle and his wife attended Lansing Bible Institute. He first pastured at the Assyria Bible Church in 1949. In 1954, the family moved to Chariton, Iowa, and the Chariton Bible Church. In addition to ministering to the local church there, he also promoted evangelistic street meetings and a nursing home ministry. In 1960, he returned to the Assyria Bible Church, where he continued until 1968. His final active pastorate was in Dowagiac until 1973. He and his wife managed the Highlander’s Motor Lodge and were members of the Elkhart, Ind., First Baptist Church, where he served as the director of a nursing home ministry for several years. He later joined Larry Bratton and served as music directory at the Riverside Bible Church. After retiring, he moved to Vandalia. In 1996, he moved to Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; one daughter, Priscilla; and one son, Daryl.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane, and one brother, Luvan in 1992.
Services were Feb. 25, 1998, with local arrangements made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Clara P. Pruden
Clara P. Pruden, 87, of Charlotte died Dec. 29, 1997 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility.
Mrs. Pruden was born in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Augusta (Herida) and Carl Brandt. She was employed at the Charlotte Hotel for a short time and had been a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Jean (Walter) Lorraine of Lansing, and four sons, Samuel (Arlene) of E. Hartford, Conn., James (Pat) of Arlington, Texas, Frank (Claire) of Dowling, and Edward of Jenison.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, LouAnna, one son, Robert, and her husband, Henry.
Services were Jan. 2 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. John R. Smith officiating. Interment was in the Dimondale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Barbara Puffenberger
Barbara Puffenberger, special wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Barbara (Green) Puffenberger ended her brave fight with cancer at her home on September 27, 1998. Barbara was born on July 21, 1939 in Lansing to Ralph and Janet (McNaughton) Green. She had been employed with the Dewitt City Police Department and the Flashes Shopper’s Guide & News in Eaton Rapids. Barb’s many interests and talents were painting, flowers, cooking and caring for others. Her positive attitude will be missed by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Henry; children, John (Mia) Green of Shah Alam, Malaysia, Fred (Helen) Puffenberger of DeWitt, Karen (Bill) Miller of Ionia; grandchildren are Shawn and Stefanie Green, Amy, Eric and Alec Puffenberger and Ryan and Justin Miller. She is also survived by her sister, Susan (Dick) Steffens of DeWitt; brother, Frank (Jean) Green of San Jose, CA; and many loved ones.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 1, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 9220 Kinneville, Eaton Rapids with Pastor Scott Boles officiating. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the First Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or Sparrow Hospice in memory of Barbara Puffenberger. Arrangements by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
Eva Quantrell
Eva (Watson) Quantrell, 73, of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Charlotte, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998 at her residence in Fla.
Mrs. Quantrell was born in Philadelphia, Penn. the daughter of Frances and Eva (Eamer) LaGrossa. She was a member of the Charlotte Eagles Auxiliary and the Charlotte American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Eva Stiehm of St. Petersburg and Rosalie Kita of Charlotte; four sons, Thomas Watson, Dennis Watson, and Jean Quantrell all of Charlotte and Michael Watson of Parma; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jane Rosenberg of St. Petersberg.
Graveside services and interment were held Dec. 11 at the West Carmel Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau officiating.
Arrangements were made by the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Dortha Randall
Dortha (Gildart) Randall, 90, passed away at her home Jan. 4, 1998.
Mrs. Randall was born Sept. 26, 1907. She taught school in Brookfield Township. She was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two daughters, Audrey Mussell of Santa Maria, Calif. and Sharon Gierman of Mokena, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Randall.
Graveside services were Jan. 7 at the North Clarence Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Robertson Funeral Homes.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Battle Creek.
Murville K. Rathbun
Murville K. Rathbun, age 88, of Eaton Rapids died Sunday, September 27, 1998 at the Mary Avenue Nursing Home in Lansing. Born February 13, 1910 in Jackson, MI the son of Lewis and Mable (Harper) Rathbun. Mr. Rathbun was retired after 30 years of service from the Dana Corp. formerly Atlas Drop Forge of Lansing and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Rathbun in 1993 and 2 brother, Yale and Theron Rathbun.
Surviving are his wife of over 71 years, Thelma; 4 children, Keith (Mary) Rathbun of Eaton Rapids, Jan (Kathy) Rathbun of Eaton Rapids, Patricia Rathbun of Eaton Rapids and Cynthia Dale of Eaton Rapids; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Olive Rathbun of Eaton Rapids and sister-in-law, Florence Rathbun of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 1st at 1:30 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Tom Evans officiating. Interment followed in the Oakwood Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Casket bearers were grandsons, John Rathbun, Joe Rathbun, Troy Dale, Joe Dale, Mike Rathbun, Shannon Rathbun, and Chris Rathbun. For those desiring, a memorial contribution may be made to either the First United Methodist Church or the Eaton Rapids Senior Citizens Rocking Chair Deserters in memory of Murville K. Rathbun.
Josephine A. Ray
Josephine A. Ray, 79, of North Carolina, formerly of Charlotte, died Feb. 17, 1998, at the Hospice Solace Center in North Carolina after an extended illness.
Mrs. Ray was a native of Big Rapids, the daughter of Magnus and Eva Vivian Stimson Jorgensen. She married Orval Ray. She had lived in Buncombe County, N.C., since 1981. She retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. She was a member of Mountain Sheba Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Kay Rice of Weaverville; one son, William of Eustis, Fla., one brother, Burton Nostrant of Peru, Nev.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 21 at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Rhinehart officiating. Interment was in the Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
