Clarabelle Theresa Reamy
Clarabelle Theresa Reamy, 71, of Charlotte, formerly of Goodrich, died July 20, 1998, at the Ingham Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Reamy was born Oct. 23, 1926, in Detroit, the daughter of Milford Adrian and Sidneybelle (Hammond) Truesdale. She worked out of her home as an antique dealer and did many antique shows.
She is survived by one son, Michael S. Reamy of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Victoria E. Collins of Sturgis, and Jennifer M. (Thomas) Remington of Charlotte; two grandsons; two granddaughters; brother, Donald Truesdale of Florida; and sister, Patsy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard.
Committal service was July 24 at Riverside Cemetery, Vassar. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Lowell Reed
Lowell R. Reed, 92, of Charlotte died Dec. 10, 1998 at the Ingham Regional Medical Center, Lansing, after a short illness.
Mr. Reed was born in Carsonville, the son of Frank and Carrier (Ernest) Reed and had been a Charlotte resident since 1947. He was a 1924 graduate of Carsonville High School, 1928 graduate of the Dana School of Music, Warren, Ohio, and attended the Winona School of Photography in Winona, Ind. He had been co-owner, with his wife, Donna, of Reed’s Photography Studio in Charlotte since 1947. Prior to that, he taught instrumental music at the W.K. and Ann J. Kellogg schools in Battle Creek.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ of Charlotte, Charlotte Lodge #120 F&AM, Charlotte Lions Club, Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers of Michigan, Michigan Photographers’ Society and a founding member of the Triangle Photographers Association. Prior to moving to Charlotte, he had been a member of the Battle Creek Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Edmonds); one daughter, Dianne (N. William) O’Keefe of Grosse Pointe Shores; one son, John Norman (Janet) of Potterville; two grandchildren, Carrier (Matthew) Calcaterra and William Reed O’Keefe; and one great-granddaughter, Christina Calcaterra.
Services were Dec. 12 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Dr. Peter R.K. Brenner officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Rebecca Reed
Rebecca Ann Reed, 48, of Sunfield, died Monday morning, Oct. 12, 1998 at a Lansing hospital following a long illness.
Reed was born July 10, 1950 in Hazard, Kent., a daughter of Denzil Burton and Mary J. combs. She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Reed, Jr. and her father Denzil Burton.
Surviving are her husband, Bill, two children, Richard Butler, Jr. of Glendale, Ariz., and Lisa Hall of Potterville; eight grandchildren; her mother, Mary Burton of Lansing; step-mother, Rose Burton of Mulliken; daughter-in-law, Tambra Butler of Sunfield; mother and father-in-law, Cleora and Angus Berry of Grand Ledge; five brothers, Larry Burton of Lansing, Dennis (Lisa) Burton of Grand Marais, Minnesota, Ricky Burton of Durand, Troy and Todd Burton of Mulliken; one sister, Tammy (Tim) Kelley of Sunfield; special sister-in-law, Kay Leija of Texas and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her caregiver Lisa Piercefield.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Rev. Wayne Compton officiating.
Interment was at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
Robert G. Reed
Robert G. Reed, 79, of Charlotte died April 7, 1998 in Lansing.
Mr. Reed was born Jan. 2, 1919 in Charlotte, the son of George W. and Elsie (Mason) Reed. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Blanche Brugh in Texas. He was a lifelong land surveyor in Eaton County. Mr. Reed was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW, Maple City Post #2406, Gideon’s, and the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors. He retired from Lansing Board of Water & Light.
He is survived by daughter, Audrey (Dale) Johnson; son, Robin (Sandy) Reed both of Charlotte; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Donna) Reed; sister, Peggy Welch both of Charlotte; and sister, Marian (Gerald) Terry of Grayling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; and daughter, Nancy.
Services were April 10 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Dr. Charles Moore officiating. Interment was in Perry Cemetery, Brookfield Township.

Minnie Marie Reiter
Minnie Marie Reiter, 77, passed away July 21, 1998.
Mrs. Reiter was born in Toluca, Ill. and lived in Charlotte for over 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Reiter-Sanders; brothers, Russell and Wilbur Stivers; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eric W. Reiter.
Services will be Aug. 7 at the Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
William C. Richards
William C. Richards, 66, passed away Aug. 9, 1998 after a brief illness.
Mr. Richards was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Ionia, the son of Lester and Flora (Greenfield) Richards. He owned Bill Richards Studio in Portland until 1985 and Richards Studio in Vermontville.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Iona (Sprague) Richards of Vermontville; three sons, Dennis (Kristin) of Traverse City, Philip (Beth) of Lakeview, and Michael (Diann) of Nashville; six grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy McCracken of Carson City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and four sisters.
Services were Aug. 12 at the First Congregational Church of Vermontville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County Hospice, or the Scholarship Fund at Maple Valley High School.
Beverly J Ries
Beverly Jean Ries, 57, of Lansing passed away Oct. 4, 1998, following a long and brave battle with leukemia.
Beverly was a lifetime area resident and owned the Ceramics Cellar, where she taught ceramics. She was a creative person who enjoyed crafts, the piano, and loved helping friends and caring for her family. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Duane; son, Robert of East Lansing; daughter, Julie (Kevin) Chunn of Hart; grandchildren, Kacey, Keriann, and Dennis; mother, Marion (Roy) Carpenter of Lansing; sisters, Sharon (Ron) Olson of Charlotte, Deborah “Sue” (Ken) Decker of Vermontville, Patty Peterman of Lansing, and Marjorie (Eric) Clark of Waterford; and many nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Lou; granddaughter, Kellyann; brother, Lewis; and sister, Mary.
Services were Oct. 7 at Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with Deacon Edwin Schneider officiating. Graveside services took place Oct. 9 at Southern Cemetery, Central Lake.

Oral F. Ripley
Oral F. Ripley, 81, of Marshall died July 22, 1998, at his residence.
Mr. Ripley was born in Lee Township, Calhoun County, the son of Harry F. and Olive (Anderson) Ripley and was a lifelong area resident. He was a lifelong farmer and had also been employed at Corning Glass in Albion. He was also employed for a short time at Gro-Pup at Kelloggs in Battle Creek.
He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Ripley of Marshall; three sons, Dwight (Mary) Ripley and Forest (Karen) Ripley, both of Marshall, and Elden (Phyllis) Ripley of Olivet; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Pauline Ordiway of Kingsley, Joliet Sebastian of Charlotte and Julietta Cox of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Conley) Ripley; son, Beacher Ripley; three grandchildren; four sisters, Georgia Pierce, Virginia Long, Dorothy Aumick and Maxine Goodnoe; and three brothers, Orval, Arlo and Aaron Ripley.
Services were July 25 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. David Litchfield officiating. Interment was in Lee Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Ripley’s name may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Good Samaritan Hospice Care.
