Robert Elroy Rulison
Robert Elroy Rulison, 86, of Hancock, formerly of Charlotte, died July 17, 1998 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where he had been a patient for five months.
Mr. Rulison was born April 22, 1912, in Charlotte, the son of Herman and Pearl (Woodbury) Rulison.
He had been a resident of Hancock for four years and prior to that, lived for seven years in Tapiola, having moved there from Charlotte.
He was a 1930 graduate of Charlotte High School, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, having been stationed in Europe and the Philippines.
He had been employed by Meijer's Thrifty Acres in Lansing, from where he retired in 1977; previously had worked for the former Wilcox-Gay Corp. in Charlotte for 24 years and had attended the First Congregational Church UCC while in Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katherine (Shaw); two sons, David (Linda) and Richard Rulison, both of Pelkie; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dan Rulison; his parents; and one sister, Marjorie Gruss of Battle Creek.
Cremation has taken place. The memorial will be at 3 p.m. Aug. 2 at the American Legion Post 42, Charlotte.
Arrangements were made by the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, Hancock, or the First Congregational Church UCC, Charlotte.
Clara Rush
Clara B. Rush, 96, of Charlotte, formerly of Lake Odessa, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998 at Eaton Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Rush was born Aug. 7, 1902, in Portland, the daughter of Clark and Mate Louise (Sterling) Adams.
She married Floyd Rush in 1920, was a retired beauty salon owner/operator and a charter member of the Faith Bible Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Beatrice Fuller and Beverly Bennett, both of Lansing, and Deloris McGee of Marine City; 13 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Orva Adams of Lansing; a daughter-in-law, Pat Rush; many nieces and nephews; and friend Viola Holloway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; son, Floyd Duane; and two grandsons.
Services were held Sept. 15 at the Faith Bible Church with the Rev. Shane Lewis officiating.
Interment was in Deepdale Memorial Park.
Arrangements were made by Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa.

Patricia Rush
Patricia Joyce Rush, 68, of Charlotte died Oct. 11, 1998 following her struggle with brain cancer.
She was a nurse at Hayes Green Beach Hospital in Charlotte, Plant City Florida Hospital, and a volunteer for the SIREN/Eaton Shelter, retiring in the mid-1980’s.
She loved to play bingo.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Joyce (Vernie) Nichols of Charlotte, Lucille Joan (Donald) Shick of Tucson, Ariz., and Nanette Jean (Charles) Stokes of Hartford, Ark.; one son, Rev. Charles Wright of Charlotte; five stepchildren, Harold Rush and Luayne Sue (Jim) Furlong both of Lake Odessa, Laura Larich of Calif., Terry Rush of Ionia, and Sandy (Robin) Reed of Charlotte; 25 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three sisters, June (Bob) Smith of Grand Rapids, Marylee (Gus) Rodeman of Charlotte, and Flora (Don) Gillette of N.M.; and a brother, Earl (Floy) Pratt of Springport.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Wright and Floyd Rush, JR.; son, Thomas A. Wright; and two grandsons.
Services were held at the Church of Christ in Charlotte on Oct. 15.
Arrangements were prepared by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Ruth K. (Botsford) Ryden
Ruth K. Ryden, age 85, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998.
Ruth was born March 30, 1913 in Cadillac the daughter of Clinton and Emma Alberta (Werner) Halladay.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and was employed with the State of Michigan was a Librarian.
Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Ceil “Lefty” Botsford, her second husband, Every W. Ryden and 3 sisters, Ellen Fauson, Donna Ernest and Irene Force.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Suzanne (Dale) Ellsworth of Eaton Rapids and Diane Botsford of Webberville; son, Thomas Botsford of Eaton Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother, Robert (Irene) Halladay of Reed City; sisters, Luella (Lawrence) Custion of E. Lansing and Marja (Allan) Dodrill of FL.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, October 10, at Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, with Rev. Joseph Huston, Pastor of the Holt United Methodist Church officiating.
Arrangements were by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
William N. Sabin
William N. Sabin, 65, of Battle Creek, died Aug. 18, 1998 at his home.
Mr. Sabin was born March 3, 1933 in Battle Creek the son of Clyde and Viola (Rice) Sabin.
He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1951.
He was employed at various construction companies as a heavy equipment operator.
He served in the United States Air Force and the United States Marine Corps.
He attended Birchwood United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Goldie (Youmans); three daughters, Tina Marie Olcheske of Marshall, Tammy Ann Robbins of Bastrop, Texas, and Pamela Jill Zinsmeyer of Cedar Creek, Texas; three sons, Michael Sabin of Battle Creek, John Branham of Las Vegas and Rudolph Branham II of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Nelson Sabin of Battle Creek.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Newton and Betty Anita Sabin and two brothers, James Sabin and Clyde Sabin Jr.
Services were at the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel with the Rev. Melanie Baker-Streevy officiating.
Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue.
