Tanya Michalcewicz
Tanya Michalcewicz, 22, of Charlotte died Feb. 22, 1997.
Ms. Michalcewicz was born May 30, 174, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Barbara and William Michalcewicz.
She is survived by her mother, Barbara Michalcewicz of Charlotte; her father, William Michalcewicz of South Dakota; one brother, Mark (Kimberly) Michalcewicz of Silver Lake, Wis.; one nephew, Samuel Michalcewicz; and her grandparents, George and Mary Ellen Mortimer of Springport.
Services were Feb. 25 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Mark Booth officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Marlene V. Milbourn
Marlene V. Milbourn, 59, of Bellevue died July 12, 1997, at the Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte.
Mrs. Milbourn was born in Battle Creek the daughter of Leo and Zelma (Fox) Green. She was a lifelong Bellevue area resident. She was a 1957 graduate of Bellevue High School.
She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Milbourn; two daughters, Brenda (David) Kemerling of Battle Creek, and Melanie Milbourn of Bellevue; 5 grandchildren; and 1 brother, Arthur Green of Bellevue. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Arlene Green.
At her request, no services will be held. But there will be visitation on July 14. Arrangements were made by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
H. Elizabeth Miller
H. Elizabeth Miller, 86, of Eaton Rapids died Jan. 3, 1997, in Eaton Rapids.
Mrs. Miller was born Dec. 8, 1909, in Postle, Okla., the daughter of Arthur and Maude (McEwen) Bentley. She was a seamstress and had worked for Horner Woolen Mills and later for Ide’s Clothing Store and Swan Cleaner’s all in Eaton Rapids. She was a member of the Rebekah Sunshine Lodge #142 of Eaton Rapids.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth (Patricia) of Westerville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Tari, Betsy, Randy, and Dan; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Howard Bentley of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 1988.
Services were Jan. 6 at the Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with the Revs. Carl Sundermeyer and John Metcalf officiating. A Rebekah memorial service was also conducted by Lodge #142. Interment was in the Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Rapids First Congregational Church.
Homer Miller
Homer Miller, 83, of St. Johns formerly of Eaton Rapids died July 29, 1997, in St. Johns.
Mr. Miller was born on July 7, 1914 in Gladwin County, the son of Gilbert and Inez (Wing) Miller. Homer was a retired Tool & Die Operator for the Lansing Drop Forge in Lansing. A member of the First Congregational Church in Eaton Rapids, the F & AM Lodge #63 of Eaton Rapids, Royal Arch Chapter #100 Leslie, and a member of the Grand Valley Consistory in Grand Rapids, and an Eaton County Shriner.
He is survived in death by his wife, Maurice Casler of St. Johns; two daughters, Ardis (Pete) Bates of Eaton Rapids and Sue (David) Johnstone of Charlotte; step-daughter, Pat (Vern) Schneider of Ovid; 5 sisters; several grand and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marian, and son, Arden.
Services were Aug. 1 at the Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with the Rev. Stephan Weinberger of the First United Methodist Church in St. Johns officiating. Interment was in the Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be made to either “The House of Ruth” or the F & AM #63, Eaton Rapids.
John U. Miller
John U. Miller, 87, of Vermontville died July 10, 1997, in his home.
Mr. Miller was born on Jan. 12, 1910, in Indiana, the son of Urias and Rebecca (Yoder) Miller. He was a self-employed repairman having operated a repair and leather shop. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Mennonite Faith.
He is survived by his 6 sons, Emanuel of Missouri, Ezra of Indiana, Amos of Indiana, Andy of Arkansas, John Jr. of Vermontville, and Joni of Indiana; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Susana E. Bontrager; 2 sons; a daughter; his parents; a sister; and brothers.
Services were on July 12, with the Bishop Ray Hochstetler. Interment was in the Meadowview Cemetery, Missouri.
Eleanor Marie Mitchell
Eleanor M. Mitchell, 91, of Charlotte, formerly of Potterville, died Dec. 26, 1996.
Ms. Mitchell was born Mar. 4, 1905, the daughter of Charlie and Estella (Arnold) Whitaker. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide from 1974 until 1982 in the Lake Odessa School system, and also worked in food service at Oldsmobile.
She is survived by two daughters, Veralee Heinze of Potterville, and Shirley Staton of Iowa; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1947.
Services were Dec. 28 at Pray Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Coen officiating. Interment was in Benton Township Cemetery, Potterville.
Lowell C. Mitchell
Lowell C. Mitchell, 83, of Eaton Rapids died Jan. 2, 1997, in Albion.
Mr. Mitchell was born April 5, 1913, in Edmore, the son of Carl and Mabel (Sheets) Mitchell. He retired from General Motors as a tool and die maker after 30 years of service and was a barber in the Aurelius and Eaton Rapids area. He was Past Master of the Eaton Rapids Masonic Lodge #63 F&AM.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Roberta; one son, Richard (Marilyn) Lyons of Eaton Rapids; and three grandchildren, Kimberly Lyons of Eaton Rapids, Jennifer Lyons of Barrington, Ill., and Christopher Lyons of Chicago, Ill.
Services were Jan. 6 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with the Rev. Stephen Klink, pastor of the Eaton Rapids Community Christian Church officiating. A Masonic memorial service was Jan. 5, presented by the Eaton Rapids Masonic Lodge #63 F&AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Disease Association.
Albert C. Mohr
Albert C. (Jack) Mohr, 76, of Hastings, Minn., died Dec. 14, 1997. He was a graduate of Sherwood High School and Michigan State University. He was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Mohr was a life member of Sherwood Lodge #421 F&AM and of the Michigan State Alumni Association. He worked for the Federal Land Association (FLBA) in St. Johns and Charlotte. He served in several executive positions and was president from 1973 to retirement in 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Viola (Grace); son, Robert (Linda) Mohr of Mattawan; daughters, Nancy (Glen) White of Lawrence, Kan., and Susan (Marlin) Nelson of Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lela Murrey and Mildred Leatherbury.
Private interment will be in the Sherwood Cemetery.
