Martha R. Eckels
Martha R. Eckels, 90, of Olivet died Feb. 15, 1997.
Mrs. Eckels was born May 28, 1906, in Cornucopia, Wis., the daughter of Albert and Mary (Borack) Roman. She had moved from Maryland, resided in Olivet, then moved to Kiwanis Manor before moving to the Country Living Adult Foster Care Home, Olivet. She was a member of the Episcopal Church in Elkton, Md., and had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross for several years.
She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie (Lynnwood) Bracy of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Christopher (Christina) Forsyth of Wayne, Amy Forsyth and Faron Bracy both of Charlotte; five great-grandchildren, Chase, Chane, Cale, Lynnzie, and Mikey; one brother, Maxwell Roman of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis.
Services were Feb. 21 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Scott Brood officiating. Interment was in the West Carmel Cemetery, Eaton County.

Orville L. Eishen
Orville L. Eishen, 90, of Olivet died Nov. 9, 1997.
Mr. Eishen was born Aug. 15, 1907 in Miller City, Ohio, the son of John Joseph and Addie (Gettys) Eishen. He married Minnie Mae Sharp on Dec. 29, 1927. He was a farmer on his own farm, drove a school bus, and was a drivers education instructor for the Olivet Schools. He was a member of Lee Center United Methodist Church. Mr. Eishen was a Walton Township Trustee and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by two sons, Duane (Genevieve) Eishen of Olivet and Leonard (Rosalie) Eishen of Sturgis; daughter, Gloria (Dale) Southward of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dee (Agnes) Davidson; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie; brother, Oscar; and infant daughter, Annabelle.
Services were Nov. 12 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Pastor Geri Litchfield officiating. Interment was in Bosworth Cemetery, Eaton County. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home.

Wayne E. Eitniear
Wayne E. Eitniear, 62, formerly of Charlotte died May 2, 1997, in Mecosta, of natural causes.
Mr. Eitniear was born June 28, 1934, in Dimondale, the son of Murl and Flossie (Hart) Eitniear. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was an active member of the VFW Post #6034 and the American Legion Post #42. He retired from the Iron Workers Union in 1991.
He is survived by his father, Murl, of Charlotte; two sons, Wayne and Brian both of Charlotte; three grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Bobbie) of Dimondale, Ronald (Sue) of Olivet and Theodore (Joyce) of Eaton Rapids; two sisters, Shirley Gilbert of Lansing and Ann (Wayne) Boss of Delton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Flossie, and one brother-in-law, Henry Gilbert.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Katherine A. Elles
Katherine Alexander Elles, 83, of Gun Lake, formerly of Charlotte, died July 22, 1997, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Elles was born March 21, 1914, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Lloyd and Melita (Carstens) Alexander. She attended Grand Rapids schools and graduated from the University of Michigan. Before her marriage, she was a social worker with Michigan Children’s Aid, specializing in infant adoption. Mrs. Elles was a member St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte and attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Hastings. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Mackie-Smith of Gun Lake and Joanne Elles of New Hampshire; two sons, Stephen and Edward, both of Gun Lake; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Melita Furrell of Oklahoma and Belmont; one brother, James Alexander of East Grand Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were July 25 at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Hastings, with the Rev. Charles McCabe officiating.
Arrangements were made by the Avink Funeral Home Cremation Society of Michigan.
Marion L. Elliston
Marion L. Elliston, 87, of Nashville died June 8, 1997.
Mrs. Elliston was born Oct. 28, 1909, the daughter of Charles Rudolph and Mary Elliston. She attended Wybel Country School, Vermontville High School, and Nashville High School. Mrs. Elliston worked at the Hastings J.C. Penney’s store for many years, as well as for many Nashville businesses. She attended the Nashville United Methodist Church and McCallum United Brethern Church, Delton. She was a member of the I GO-U-GO Birthday Club, Nashville.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce and Frances; one son, Jack; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Francis and Lloyd; one granddaughter, Cinda; one great-grandson, Russell; one great-granddaughter, Jaimie; one brother, Harold; and two sisters, Vivian and Virginia.
Services are June 11 at the Lakeview Cemetery, Nashville, with the Rev. Jerry Gallaway officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to McCallum United Brethern Church.
Frances Fairchild
Frances Fairchild, 92, of Crystal Lake, Ill., died Nov. 24, 1997, at the Fountains of Crystal Lake.
Mrs. Fairchild was born in Wolverine April 6, 1905, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Krueger) Miller. She married Orlando Fairchild Dec. 20, 1935.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (David) Manzel of Crystal Lake and Carol (Robert) Bunker of Charlotte; and three grandchildren, Kenneth (Lori) Manzel of Cedar Rapids, Kevin Manzel of Chicago, Ill., and Kimberly Bunker of Charlotte; and two step-grandchildren, Angela (Roger) Gilmore of Holt and Stacy Bunker of Potterville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orlando in 1986, one brother, Ernest Miller, and one sister, Lena Ridenauer.
Graveside services were Nov. 29 at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte. Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made in the family’s name to the Hospice of N.E. Illinois or Bethany Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, Ill.
Glenn C. Fetterman
Glenn C. Fetterman, 88, of Charlotte died Aug. 16, 1997.
Mr. Fetterman was born Dec. 11, 1908, in Roxand Township, the son of Arvis and Henrietta (Cramer) Fetterman. He had been a machinist for the John Bean Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1973. He had also been employed at the Charlotte Chair Co. from 1934-1944. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, and a former member of the Bellevue Whirl-a-ways.
He is survived by his wife, Lottie; two daughters, Ireta (Richard) Tate and Sandra (Jan) Skrip, both of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Glenn LeRoy, in 1969.
Funeral services were Aug. 19 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church or American Cancer Society.
Luella Finch
Luella Finch, 79, of Eaton Rapids died Oct. 8, 1997, in Eaton Rapids.
Mrs. Finch was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Springport, the daughter of Herbert Lee and Rosa Mae (Webster) Finch. She attended the Eaton Rapids First United Methodist Church. She was a Red Cross Volunteer, a member of the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital Auxiliary, and the Rocking Chair Deserters Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived in death by her three brothers, Benjamin, Louis, and William “Sonny” Finch; three sisters, Bessie Bouts, Margaret Pearson, and Pauline Thuma.
Services were Oct. 10 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with the Pastor Roberts Betts officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital Auxiliary or to the Eaton Community Hospice.
