Bette Lou Lewis
Bette Lou Lewis, 68, of Olivet died July 14, 1997.
Mrs. Lewis was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Monroe, the daughter of Jonathan Levi and Bertha Ellen (Leeds) Pilgrim. She enjoyed flowers, nature, and camping.
She is survived by her son, John Michael (Beverly) Lewis of Olivet; daughter, Pamela Sue (Norman Douglas) Cline of St. Louis; two grandchildren; and sisters, Ellen Whitehead of Houghton Lake and Christine Evans of Otisville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Lewis.
Visitation was on Wed., July 16 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. There will be no services. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice.
Darwin L. Lilly
Darwin Leroy Lilly, 52, of Charlotte died June 23, 1997, at a Lansing hospital.
Mr. Lilly was born March 28, 1945, in Lansing, the son of Harry and G. Esther (Warner) Lilly. He was a lifelong farmer and a 25-year employee of General Motors’ Service Parts Operation, Lansing.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; three children, Rob Lilly, Cheryl (Gregg) Worden and Jason Lilly; four step-children; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Duane Lilly and Doug Lilly.
Services were June 25 at the Needmore Bible Church, Charlotte, with Pastor Darryl Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Needmore Cemetery.

Ion William Link
Ion William Link, 85, of Charlotte died Aug. 7, 1997.
Mr. Link was born March 22, 1912, in Kalamo Township, the son of William and Clemata (Frey) Link. He worked as an electrician for A.E., retiring March 11, 1977.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris; son, Earl (Marjorie) Link of Battle Creek; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his 7 brothers and sisters.
Services were Aug. 11 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Duane Royston officiating. Interment was in Kalamo Cemetery, Eaton County. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Beulah A. Losey
Beulah “Connie” A. Losey, 88, of Sturgis died May 3, 1997.
Mrs. Losey was born Oct. 17, 1908, in Eaton County, the daughter of John and Lois (Bradley) McConnell. She was a 1926 graduate of Charlotte High School and a 1929 graduate of the Battle Creek School of Nursing. She married Milo Losey in Angola, Ind., June 2, 1934. She had been employed by the Nichols Hospital and the office of Drs. Mustard, Stiefel, Brainard, and Kingsley in Battle Creek and for 17 years by the Sturgis Hospital before retiring in 1971. She was a member of the First United Methodist church, Morning Friendship circle, a former Shephard at First United Methodist, member of the survivors’ group of retired hospital workers, and one of 15 who won an opportunity to attend a workshop at Western Michigan University in 1991. She was a long time member of the National League of Nursing Education, American Nurses Association, and Battle Creek and Nottawa District Nurses’ Association.
She is survived by twin daughters, Penny (Kenneth) Cast of White Pigeon and Susan (Roger) Decker of Burr Oak; one son, William (Arvilla) Losey of Las Vegas, Nev.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Arlene McDonnell of Canandaigua, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo; her parents; two sisters, Flossie Holden and Zella LeVan; one brother, Russell McConnell; and one son-in-law, Kenneth Cast.
Services were May 7 at the First United Methodist Church, Sturgis, with the Rev. Richard Morrison officiating. Interment was in the White Pigeon Cemetery, White Pigeon. Arrangements were made by the Rosenberg-Schipper Funeral Home, Sturgis.

John C. Lothamer
John C. Lothamer, 78, of Bellevue died March 19, 1997, at his farm home.
Mr. Lothamer was born May 24, 1918, in Allen County, Ind., east of Fort Wayne, on his immigrant grandfather’s farm. He moved to the Coldwater in the early 1920s. During the Depression, he lived with his uncle, the Rev. Fr. Jesse Lothamer in Indiana, though he graduated from St. Charles High School in Coldwater in 1936. He was a lifelong farmer and well known to farmers in south-central Michigan as a dealer in commercial fertilizers and seed corn. In 1965, he and his family moved to Bellevue. In order to provide summer employment for his large family, he operated several fruit and vegetable markets in Bellevue, Charlotte, and Battle Creek. After his family had grown, he continued selling fresh fruits and vegetables until 1996 at a street-side market in Charlotte. He took great pride in providing his customers with quality fresh produce. He married Helen Marie Cox on Dec. 26, 1939. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Coldwater, and St. Ann Church, Bellevue.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; children, R. Susanne (Jerome) Colligan of Traverse City, Rev. James W. of Adrian, Sharon (Tom) Harrington, Danos of Palmas del Mar, Puerto Rico, Peter (Micki) of Bellevue, Rose (Gary) Bonvillain of Sunset, La., Jesse of Okemos (and Linda of Lansing), Timothy of Bellevue, Simon (Gayle) of Ann Arbor, Helen Mary (Don) Malinowski of Bellevue, Joseph (Linda) of Williamston, Patrick of Bellevue, R. Gerald (Kathy) of Bellevue and Christopher (Mary) of Petersburg, Va.; 45 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, James.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth; one son, John “Jack”; one grandson, Benjamin Lothamer; three sisters, Clarice Linder, Helen Templin, and Jean Linehan; and two brothers, Don and Jesse P.
Services were March 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Charlotte, with the Rev. Fr. James Lothamer officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue. Arrangements were made by the Shaw Funeral Home-Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ann Church or the Bellevue Youth Basketball program.
Elsie L. Love
Elsie Lee Love, 61, of Eaton Rapids died Aug. 25, 1997, in Lansing.
Mrs. Love was born Jan. 30, 1936, in Kentucky, the daughter of Elliott and Gertrude (Whitaker) Risner. She retired from Eaton Stamping in 1984 after 20 years of service. After retirement Elsie especially enjoyed waitressing at Kris’s Kitchen in Eaton Rapids.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bill; three sons, Roger Love, Brian (Pam) Love, and Timothy (Dee) Love all of Eaton Rapids; 7 grandchildren; 5 sisters, Irene (Alfred) Wittman, Jewelene Anderson, Lorene (Ed) Jecks, Mae (Bill) Locke, Joyce (Jim) Byron, all of Eaton Rapids, and Esther Risner of Lansing; two brothers, Alden (Beverly) Risner and Mark (Jan) Risner all of Eaton Rapids.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Chalmer Risner.
Services were Aug. 28 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with the Rev. Stephen Klink officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery.

Lucile F. Love
Lucile Frances Love, 71, of Vermontville died March 18, 1997.
Mrs. Love was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Eaton County, the daughter of Lloyd and Edith (Smith) Case. She was a Korean War veteran.
She is survived by two sisters, Frances Shetenhelm and Flossie Corey both of Vermontville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 1982; and three brothers, Allen Case, Colon Case, and Robert Case.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County Humane Society or the Maple Valley Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Marian J. Love
Marian J. Love, 82, of Mulliken, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 1997, in a Crossville, Tenn. hospital.
Mrs. Love was born June 22, 1915, in Mancelona, Mich., the daughter of Frank and Gladys (Thompson) Lesher. She was a member of the Mulliken Order of Eastern Star #363 and farm bureau, and attended the Mulliken United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Larry) Rolfe of Sunfield, Judy (Thomas) Smith of Crossville, Tenn., and Audrey Langley of Redford; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 8 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Pastor Don Woolum officiating. Interment was in Meadowbrook Cemetery.
