Robert L. Brandon
Robert Loyd Brandon, 72, of Charlotte died May 25, 1997.
Mr. Brandon was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Moorestown, the son of Alza Albertus “Bert” and Jane (Turner) Brandon. He worked for Aluminum Extrusions/Hoover for 33 years, until his retirement is 1986. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Charlotte, for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Charles (Barb) of Charlotte and Kevin of Clarksburg, W. Va.; two daughters, Pamela (Gerald) Johnson of Olivet and Susan (Larry) Pifer of Charlotte; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathryn (Milan) Tappen of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mable Fox, Lillian Coon and Nora Braden; and four brothers, Albert, John, Glenn and Roger.
Services were May 28 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. R.K. Brenner officiating. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, Charlotte, or the American Heart Association.
Thomas O. Brands
Thomas Owen Brands, 60, of Sunfield died May 17, 1997.
Mr. Brands was born Nov. 9, 1936, Owosso, the son of Owen and Alice Brands. Shortly thereafter, his parents moved to Sunfield, operating the Sun Valley Court Motel and Restaurant. As a young man he worked at the Sunfield Farmers Elevator for several years. He married Phyllis Gage Potter on Feb. 12, 1960. Phyllis had two young daughters which he accepted as his own. In June of 1964, they moved to Sunfield. For a short time he worked at Ledge Industries of Grand Ledge. In 1973 he began working for Roberts Sinto Corporation also of Grand Ledge as a painter.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Phyllis; four children, Tom Brands Jr. of Sunfield, Richard (Sandy) Brands of Ionia, Jean (Cecil) Kirchen of Mulliken and Marcia (Barry) McIntyre of Grand Ledge; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, brother, and sister-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services were May 21 at the Sunfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harris Hoekwater officiating. Interment was in the Sunfield Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield.
Wendell B. Brangwyn
Wendell B. Brangwyn, 59, of Charlotte, formerly of Olivet, died Oct. 19, 1997, as the result of a motorcycle accident.
Mr. Brangwyn was born in Olivet, the son of James G. and Doris (Schriber) Brangwyn. He was a lifelong Charlotte/Olivet area resident. He was a graduate of Olivet High School and has served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Brangwyn was currently employed by General Motors, Lansing, where he worked for 17 years. Previously, he had been employed at Davis Pontiac and Tom Rutherford Ford in Charlotte.
He is survived by his two sons, Steven Brangwyn of Lansing and Mark Brangwyn of Potterville; 3 grandchildren; his mother, Doris Brangwyn of Olivet; and brother, Jim Brangwyn of Olivet.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Brangwyn; and sisters, Lois Bosher and Carol Brangwyn.
Services were Oct. 23 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Chaplain Art Foster officiating. Interment was in Oakridge Cemetery, Marshall.

Eugene D. Braun
Eugene D. Braun, 68, of Charlotte died Sept. 28, 1997, at the Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte.
Mr. Braun was born April 23, 1929, in Ann Arbor, the son of Arthur and Lydia (Zumstein). He was a very active member of the Bethel U.C.C. of Freedom Twp., serving on many boards and active in many organizations. He was also a member of the First Congregational U.C.C. of Charlotte and very active in many organizations. He had owned and operated with his family the Braun Implement Dealership in Bridgewater since 1947. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; three daughters, Beverly (Duane) Feldkamp of Bridgewater, Patrice Braun of Charlotte, and Karen (Mike) Miller of Ypsilanti; four grandchildren; sister, Joyce (James) Romine of Coldwater; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation has taken place. Services were Oct. 2 at the First Congregational U.C.C., Charlotte, with Rev. Peter Brenner officiating. Also on Oct. 3 at the Bethel U.C.C., Freedom Township, with the Rev. Richard E. Hardy and Rev. Peter Brenner officiating. Arrangements were made by Robison-Bahnmille Funeral Home, Saline.
Flower contributions may be made to the Braun family private burial.
Dr. B. Phillip Brown
Dr. B. Phillip Brown, 92, of Charlotte died Aug. 4, 1997, in Charlotte.
Mr. Brown was born Feb. 1, 1905, in Belding, the oldest child of Byron and Jeanette (Reed) Brown. He had been a Charlotte resident since 1922. He was a graduate of Charlotte High School, Olivet College, and the University of Michigan Medical School. He returned to Charlotte in 1935 and continued his general medical practice until 1962. He then became the medical director-health officer for the Barry-Eaton County Health Departments and was instrumental in combining two into a District Health Department.
He was a veteran of World War II, past master and life member of Charlotte Lodge #120 F&AM, Chapter #82 RAM, and Charlotte Commandery #37 Knights Templar. He was also a past president and Paul Harris Fellow of the Charlotte Rotary Club and a long time member of both the Charlotte Country Club and First Congregational Church, Charlotte. Throughout his medical career, he was affiliated with many organizations dealing with his profession.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Henry) Eckfield of Rochester Hills; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, R.G. (Dorothy) Snyder of Holt; and one brother, J.C. Brown of Lansing.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Millicent (Moyer) and one son, Bruce.
Services were Aug. 7 at the First Congregational Church, Charlotte, with the Rev. Z. William Colson officiating. Private interment was Aug. 7 at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte. Arrangements were made by the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Samantha Good Brown
Samantha Good Brown died Sept. 30 at her home in Newaygo Township.
She is survived by one sister, Dagmar Streeter of Charlotte; one son, Terry D. Good of Sparta; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leland, her parents, Stanley G. and Dagmar Kucera; one sister, Yvonne Boyer; and brother-in-law, Howard F. Streeter.
Graveside services were Oct. 3 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids, with Dagmar Street officiating. Arrangements were made by Metcalf’s Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.
Jack D. Bruce
Jack D. Bruce, 75, of Olivet died Dec. 31, 1996, at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte, where he was taken after being stricken at home.
Mr. Bruce was born in Byron, the son of Douglas and Juanita (Moore) Bruce. He was a 1938 graduate of Olivet High School and had attended Tri-State College in Angola, Ind. He served as a B-26 pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and had worked as a building inspector for Eaton County, previously serving as superintendent of public works for the city of Olivet. He had also been employed by Miller Industries, Reed City; Oldsmobile Division of General Motors Corp., Lansing; The Ronan & Kunzl Co. of Marshall; and the former Wilcox-Gay in Charlotte. He was a member of the Olivet Congregational Church and Seniors Golf League at the Olivet Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine (Peterson); three daughters, Christine (Tom) Martz of Reed City, Catherine (Dan) Astleford of Jackson, and Amy Bruce of Bellingham, Wash.; one son, Mark of San Jose, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Joseph and Jennifer Jefts, Tim, Heidi, and Kris Martz, Ryan and Christopher Cilibraise, Kasey (Dave) Churchill and Charlie Astleford; one brother, Robert (Dorothy) of Crystal Beach, Fla.; one sister, Geri Bruce of Lansing; one aunt, Vica Bruce of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services were Jan. 4 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Clark Hock officiating.

Joshua Ray Bryant
Joshua Ray Bryant, infant son of Terry and Martha (Merrifield) Bryant of Potterville died May 2, 1997, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, where he had been a patient since birth, April 9, 1997.
He is survived by his parents; grandparents, Jane Merrifield, Ronnie Bryant, and Phillip Merrifield, all of Charlotte, and Janet Bryant of Warren; and great-grandparents, Evelyn and Herman Hale of Lansing and Rose Badgero of Coleman.
Services were May 6 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Pastor Darrell Johnson officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
