Scott Eugene Comstock
Scott Eugene Comstock, 64, of Charlotte died Aug. 11, 1997.
Mr. Comstock was born Sept. 29, 1932, in Blanchard, the son of Archie P. and Elnor G. (Swarhout) Comstock. He was a truck driver for R. A. Harkness.
He is survived by his wife, Janette K. Comstock; sons, Jason S. Comstock, and Eugene S. Comstock of Blanchard; daughters, Kimberly A. (Randall) Hansen of Vestaburg, Sandra K. (Charles Sr.) Washburn; and 3 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie L. Comstock.
Services were Aug. 14 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment was in Danby Township Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Marie L. Conroy
Marie L. (Hiar) Conroy, 71, of Sunfield, died Oct. 28, 1997, at her home following a long illness.
Mrs. Conroy was born Aug. 16, 1926, in Lake City, a daughter of Henry and Grace (Dingess) Kill. She was a former owner of a foster care home in Grand Ledge, and manager of Portland Apartments. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portland.
She is survived by one son, Rich (Ruth) Hiar of Sunfield, one stepson, Bud (Vi) Hiar of Grand Ledge; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vi (Bud) Hiar of Grand Ledge and Timmer Chartrand of Portland; one brother, John (Shirley) Kill of Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Nov. 1 at Danby Cemetery, with the Rev. Glenn E. Perry officiating. Arrangements were made by Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken.
Hazel A. Cook
Hazel Alice Cook, 76, of Charlotte died April 22, 1997.
Mrs. Cook was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Grand Township, the daughter of Russell and Clara (Woods) Bush. She married Warren Cook Nov. 18, 1942, in Providence, R.I. She was a renaissance woman, imparting wisdom and strength of others, a caring person who helped many. She was a poet, culinary artist, played the guitar and was co-operator of the Cook Family Farm. She was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Warren; three sons, Warren Jr. (Eugenie “Coco”) of Coldwater, Randy of Charlotte and Rodney (Carol) of Olympia, Wash.; two daughters, Denise (Benjamin) Bartlett of Chatham and Cynthia of Grand Ledge; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Basil Bush of Buckley, Russell Jr. “Pete” of Lapeer and Ted of Carona Del Mar, Calif.; four sisters, Ruth Cooper of Buckley, Dorothy Komrska of Woodstock, Ill., Marcia Flansburg of Grawn and Betty Cooper of Buckley.
Services were April 26 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Jim Troust officiating.

Leo F. Finley
Leo Franklin Finley, 19, of Olivet died Feb. 28, 1997.
Mr. Finley was born Aug. 3, 1977, in Eaton Rapids, the son of Robert and Rena (Biddle) Finley. He was employed in the shipping department of Masterbuilt, Olivet. He was active in the Heritage Hills W.O.L. basketball program.
He is survived by his wife, Angela; his parents, Rena and Glen Segar; two brothers, Ronald Finley of Bellevue and Paul Segar; three sisters, Gretchen (Paul) Cruz of West Palm Beach, Fla., Roberta (Shawn) Walker of San Diego, Calif., and Maggie Sparks of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a niece and nephew, Melody and Kasey Brown of Bellevue; grandparents, Margaret Finley of Mesick and Dorothy Biddle of Sheridan, Ind.; one uncle, Ronald Finley of Mesick; and his father and mother-in-law, Frank and Sue Holmes of Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Finley; his grandfather, Leo Clay Finley; and his great-grandfather, Robert Biddle.
Services were March 4, at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor David MacDonald officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
Ralph H. Fisher
Ralph H. Fisher, 71, of Olivet died May 9, 1997, at the Oaklawn Hospital, Marshall, after a short illness.
Mr. Fisher was born in Wayne County, the son of John and Clara (Reid) Fisher and had been an Olivet resident for 52 years, coming from the Detroit area. He was a retired Standard Oil Co. Agent in the Olivet area and had served in the Army during World War II in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janith (Bartlett); one daughter, Denise Thorman of Stockbridge; one son, Steven (Charline) of Graford, Texas; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were May 13 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Clark Hock officiating. Interment was in the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, with full military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Services of Southern Michigan or American Cancer Society.
Elsie M. Forshee
Elsie M. Forshee, 96, of Charlotte, formerly of the Gaines and Durand areas, died July 31, 1997 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte.
Mrs. Forshee was born July 23, 1901, in Bay City, the daughter of August and Mary (Dahn) Kurkau. She had lived in the Charlotte area since 1980, moving from the Gaines and Durand areas. She married Stanhope Forshee in Grand Blanc. Mrs. Forshee was a member of the Gaines Methodist Church since 1942. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Virginia (Edward) Atherton of Charlotte; two grandsons; three granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanhope Forshee; her parents; and one brother, Norman.
Services were Aug. 2 at the Gaines United Methodist Church, Gaines, with the Rev. David Fleming officiating. Arrangements were made by the Streeter Funeral Home, Gaines.
Memorial donations may be made to the Gaines United Methodist Church, Gaines.
Wayne H. Foster
Wayne H. Foster, 77, of Vermontville died April 18, 1997, at Pennock Hospital, Hastings.
Mr. Foster was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Elk City, Kan., the son of Bert and Dora (Mitchell) Foster. He married Barbara Howell on Feb. 28, 1946, in Lansing. He graduated from Elk City High School and from college in Independence, Kan., in 1940. He was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran serving the 242nd Battalion seeing action in the Middle East, China, Burma, India, Europe and the South Pacific. He lived in Kansas from 1946 until 1954 then moved to Michigan. He was a farmer and a mason contractor. He was a member of the Carson Mason Lodge #132 in Elk City, Kan., the American Legion Post #333 in Vermontville, and was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star.
He is survived by four children, Troy (Sharon) Foster of Peever, S.D., Linda (Doug) Lewis of Vicksburg, Kenneth (Marsha) Foster of Charlotte and Barbara (Jeff) Byington of Vermontville; four sisters, Wanda McElwain of Elk City, Kan., LaVelle (Jim) Groundwater of Temecula, Calif., Waunita (Mervin) Davidson of Emporia, Dan., and Treva Fehr of Topeka, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, March 30, 1995; his parents; brothers, Emmett, Bert Jr. and Fred; two infant brothers; one sister, Pauline Bronson; and an infant sister, Clavelle Foster.
Services were April 26 at the Maple Valley Chapel-Genther Funeral Home, Nashville, with Doug Stall, Richard Garn, Nashville Masonic Lodge and the Vermontville American Legion officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermontville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Maple Valley Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Lonnie R. Garvie
Lonnie Ray Garvie, 39, died Dec. 28, 1996, in Sturgis.
Mr. Garvie was employed as a cook at Herrymann’s Restaurant in Sturgis.
He is survived by one son, Lonnie Jr.; four daughters, Evelyn, April, Cheyenne, and Autumn; his mother, Nancy Garvie of Lagrange, Ind.; his father, John (Marie) Garvie of Vermontville; four brothers, Neil of Angola, Ind., James and Johnny, both of Lansing, and Ricky; two sisters, Tonna Grubb of Sturgis and Sheila Monroy of Athens; one half brothers, Scott of Hastings; and three half sisters, Kelly of LaGrange, Ind., Tina Marie of Burr Oaks, and Karen of Kalamazoo.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Velma Garvie and one brother, Robert.
Services were Jan. 2 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield. Interment was in the Sunfield Cemetery.
