Elizabeth “Betty” M. Gemalsky
Elizabeth “Betty” M. Gemalsky, 71, of Charlotte died Feb. 27, 1997.
Mrs. Gemalsky was born May 17, 1926, the daughter of Donald and Harriet Williams. She was affiliated with the Charlotte Country Club.
She is survived by her husband, Kurt; four brothers, Don (Lillian) Williams of College Station, Texas, and Keith (Carol) Williams, Charles (Phyllis) Williams, and James Williams, all of Eaton Rapids; two sisters, Janet (Bruce) Higgins, and Mildred (Earl) Heintz, all of Eaton Rapids; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Neil Gemalsky, Sept. 22, 1996.
Services were March 1 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Duane Royston officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Breonna L. Geroy
Breonna L. Geroy, age 4 months, of Hastings died Oct. 30, 1997, at Pennock Hospital of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Breonna was born June 29, 1997, in Lansing, the daughter of Steven and Stephanie (Uhl) Geroy.
She is survived by her parents; two sisters, Brittany and Autumn; three brothers, Joshua, Steven, and Johnathan; paternal grandparents, Richard and Carol Hilligus of Delton; and maternal grandmother, Ellen Uhl of Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Harold Uhl.
Services were Nov. 3 at the Shaw Funeral Home, Bellevue, with the Pastor Gerald W. Gallaway officiating.

Joyce M. Gerow
Joyce M. Gerow, 71, of Charlotte died March 6, 1997, at the Columbia South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center, Fla.
Mrs. Gerow was born in Detroit, the daughter of William and Marion (Smith) DeVinney. She was co-owner, along with her husband, Kenneth, of the Crestview Motel, Charlotte, and had formerly sold real estate. She was a member of the Laugh-A-Lot-Club, volunteer at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, and with her husband, had been involved with projects and activities of the Charlotte Lions Club.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth; five daughters, Gail (Richard) Phariss of Warren, Suzette (Barton) Billiu of Commerce, Karen (John “JJ”) Johnson of Costa Mesa, Calif., Laurel (Richard) Howard of Lansing, and Valerie (Lewis) Hyde of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, William DeVinney of Detroit; one half-brother, Charles DeVinney of Wisconsin; and one half-sister, Elizabeth Nejman of Mt. Prospect, Ill.
Services were March 11 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. George Fleming officiating.

Russell L. Granger
Russell Lynn Granger, 53, of Lyons, formerly of Charlotte, died May 3, 1997, in Lyons.
He worked as an electrician all over the United States.
Mr. Granger is survived by his mother, Margaret Strang of Lansing; five brothers, Robert (Penny) Granger, Ronald (Debbie) Granger, and Patrick (Suzan) Strang, all of Charlotte, Dennis (Janice) Strang of Lansing, and Robert Strang; two daughters, Rebecca Granger of Ionia and Rachel (George) Shook of Charlotte; three sons, Russell of Detroit, Ronald of Mason, and Ray of Ionia; two grandchildren, Joshua and Cameron Shook of Charlotte; many nieces and nephews; and special nieces and nephew, Kirstine and Brandon Sherman of Charlotte.
At Mr. Granger’s request, cremation has taken place and there were no services.
C. Duane Gray
C. Duane Gray, 74, of Bellevue died March 27, 1997, at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte.
Mr. Gray was born in Coldwater, the son of Clare and Alta (Palmer) Gray and had been a lifelong area resident having lived in the Battle Creek, Olivet and Bellevue areas. He was a 1942 graduate of Olivet High School, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, worked as a truck driver for Associated Truck Lines, and had been employed by Airway Mfg. Co. in Olivet. He was a member of the Olivet First Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Ball); one son, Michael (Lynn) of Charlotte; two daughters, Celia Anne “Annie” Meredith of Battle Creek and Cynthia “Cindy” Fenters of Bellevue; three grandchildren, Jessica and Ryan Fenters and Alta Gray; and two brothers, Glen of Battle Creek and John of Massachusetts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Ruth Colburn and Jane Gray.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services were March 29 at the Olivet First Assembly of God Church, Olivet, with the Rev. Douglas Hammond officiating. Arrangements were made by the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Ralph M. Green
Ralph M. Green, 84, of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Lansing, died Dec. 17, 1997, in DeWitt.
Mr. Green was born July 13, 1913, in Jackson, the son of Norman R. and Agnes (Gustoffson) Green. He retired from Purity cylinder Gasses in 975 after 29 years of service. Mr. Green was a member of the Eaton Rapids Senior Center.
He is survived by his two daughters, Barbara (Henry) Puffenberger of Eaton Rapids and Susan (L. Richard) Steffens of DeWitt; son, Frank (Jean) Green of san Jose, Calif.; eight grandchildren; three step grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet McNaughton-Green.
Services were held Jan. 17 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Interment of cremains was at Gunnisonville Cemetery.

Irene Gregarek
Irene Gregarek, 86, of Charlotte died July 8, 1997.
Mrs. Gregarek was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Eaton Township, the daughter of Frank James and Clarinda Augusta (Fullerton) Wright. She had worked as a store clerk at Jerrolds for 37 years. She was a member of the Women’s Guild, the Campfire for 40 years, manager of Hayes Green Beach Hospital gift shop, and reader at St. Mary’s School.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Betty Gilding of Charlotte, DeWayne Wright of Vermontville, Esther Grant of Charlotte, Wendall Wright of Vermontville, Phyllis Bothwell of Fountain, Patty Butler of Eaton Rapids, Larry Wright of Charlotte, Milo Wright, Eleanor Wheaton, and Neil Wright of Charlotte; sister-in-laws, Catherine Wright of Charlotte, Mary Charlow of Dimondale, and Ann Porter of Owosso; and brother-in-law, Floyd Gregarek of Colorado.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank; sister, Daisy Ames; and brothers, Don and Carson Wright.
Services were on July 11 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Father Thomas Nenneau officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hayes Green Beach Hospital.
Suzanne Grove
Suzanne Grove, 71, of Charlotte died March 10, 1997, at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Grove was born in Morigny, France, the daughter of Edmond and Rachelle (Poncet) Blouin. She had been a Charlotte resident since 1987 coming from Shreveport, La. Prior to that, she had lived in Europe where her husband had been superintendent for the American Battle Monuments Commission.
She is survived by one son, Patrick of Charlotte; one daughter, Michele Grove of Charlotte; two granddaughters, Jessica and Suzanne Grove, both of Charlotte; and one grandson, Randy Grove of East Lansing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlyn, July 3, 1996.
Services were March 13 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Jerry Slivensky officiating. Interment was in the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
