Richard J. Hoisington
Richard James Hoisington, 11, of Monroe, formerly of Potterville, died March 15, 1997, at the Mott Children’s Hospital, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, after a long illness.
Richard was born in Lansing, the son of Ralph and Gina (Fry) Hoisington. He had been a resident of Monroe since 1989, going there from Potterville. He was in the fifth grade at Waterloo Elementary School in Monroe and was a member of Cub Scout Pack #567 in Monroe.
He is survived by his mother, Gina; one brother, Ryan Fuller of Monroe; grandparents, Kenneth and Georgia Fry of Potterville; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Hoisington on April 8, 1996.
Services were March 19 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Pastor Stephen Shook officiating. Interment was in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Dimondale.

Marvin V. Holt
Marvin V. Holt, 60, of Charlotte died Feb. 9, 1997.
Mr. Holt was born Nov. 22, 1936, in Cook County, Ill., the son of Luther and Ernestine (James) Holt. He was a member of the West Windsor United Brethren Church. He was an Army veteran, retiring from the Michigan State Police in 1988 as detective sergeant.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie; one daughter, Trina (David) Goble of Holland; one son, Marvin (Traci) Holt of Kalamazoo; two stepsons, James Thomas of Mason, and Lyle (Josephine) Thomas of Fremont; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one brother, Aubrey (Shirley) Holt of Bronson; his mother-in-law, Aurora Devlin of Coldwater; and three sisters-in-law, Beverly (Bernard) Allen, Vicci (James) Stickney, and Lenora Stanley all of Coldwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Marilyn Smoker.
Services were Feb. 11 at the West Windsor United Brethren Church with Pastor Gar Hull officiating. Interment was in the Matteson Cemetery, Bronson. Arrangements were made by the Field & Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale.

Doris L. Hook
Doris L. Hook, 59, of Charlotte died Dec. 1, 1997, at a Lansing hospital.
Mrs. Hook was born May 3, 1928, in Lansing, the daughter of Charles and Irma (Allison) Carter.
She was a retired cashier for Community Oil Co., Charlotte.
She is survived by her husband, Francis; one daughter, Debra Hook of charlotte; one son, Russell of Charlotte; three grandchildren; one sister, Sue Carter of Charlotte; and one brother, Ray (Glenda) Carter of Olivet.
Services were Dec. 4 at the Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.

Harry A. Hopkins
Harry Allen Hopkins, 85, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Charlotte and Grand Ledge, died Feb. 9, 1997, in Zephyrhills.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; twin daughters, Brenda (James) Brenton of Eaton Rapids and Linda (Donald) Cowley of Mount Dora, Fla.; one son-in-law, Calvin Wilson of Hayesville, N.C.; five grandchildren, Bartt (Melanie) Brenton of Eaton Rapids, Julie (Steven) Nye of Clinton, Iowa, Jonathan (Amber) Cowley of Jackson, Susan Cowley of Westland, and Craig (Laurie) Wilson of Churchville, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Edwin of Otisville, Mike of Midland, and Robert of Alamo, Texas; five sisters, Cecil (Harold) Dobbs of North Branch, Ruth (Ike) Tester of Wheeler, Alice (Norris) Cooper of Shepherd, Hazel Glazier of East Lansing, and Mable (Marshall) Mockridge of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine, in 1991; one daughter, Joyce Wilson in 1982; one sister, Mary; and four brothers, Harold Clarence, Howard, and Charles.
Memorial services were held in Florida. Graveside services will be held in Charlotte at a later date.

Charles E. Horn
Charles E. Horn, 75, of Battle Creek died Oct. 30, 1997, at the Battle Creek Health System, Community Site.
Mr. Horn was born March 23, 1922, in Olivet, the son of Elmer and Irene (Gorman) Horn. He had been a Battle Creek resident since 1966. He had been employed by the Grand Truck Western Railroad as a supervisor of signals from Chicago, Ill. to Port Huron, having retired in 1978 after38 years of service. He was a 1939 graduate of Olivet High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post #54, Battle Creek, and the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy (Oxby) Horn; one daughter, Cynthia (Bill) Jones of Goodrich; one son, David (Thelma) of Cincinnati, Ohio; three granddaughters; one sister, Barbara (Theron) Stults of Battle Creek; and two brothers, Donald (Joan) of Bellevue and Clifford (Letha) of Jacksonville, Fla.
Services were Nov. 4 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Military graveside services and interment was in the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.

Irene M. Horn
Irene M. (Gorman) Horn. 93, of Olivet died Aug. 26, 1997, at the Battle Creek Health System, Community Site.
Mrs. Horn was born at Ainger near Olivet, the daughter of Charles H. and Hazel (Bradley) Gorman. She was a lifelong resident of the Olivet area. She worked for the Olivet College and Olivet High School.
She is survived by 3 sons, Charles E. (Dorothy) Horn of Battle Creek, Donald (Joan) Horn of Bellevue, and Clifford (Letha) Horn of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Barbara (Theron) Stults of Battle Creek; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer E. Horn.
Services were Aug. 29 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Interment was in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.

Ruth Horner
Ruth Horner, 88, of Potterville died Sept. 23, 1997, in Lansing.
Mrs. Horner was born April 10, 1909, in Hartford City, Ind., the daughter of George and Margaret (Craig) Casterline. She was a retired employee of G.T.E., former treasurer and office manager for Fire Proof Storage, and former office manager for Walter Hahn Co., Lansing. Mrs. Horner was also a former member of the Potterville School Board and member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She is survived by her son, Jack (Cynthia) of Potterville; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and sister, Ethel Mills Kaiser of Fremont.
Services were Sept. 26 at Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Interment was at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing.

Donna K. Hosey
Donna K. Hosey, 27, of Charlotte died Oct. 27, 1997 as the result of an automobile accident.
Ms. Hosey was born April 7, 1970, in Lansing, the daughter of Myron and Ida (Byrd) Hosey. She worked for Tokai-Rika in Battle Creek.
She is survived by three sisters, Kandy (Phil) Eldred of Charlotte, Marion (Michael) Galante of Glen Burney, and Jodie (Pat) Malloy of Charlotte; two brothers, Pat (Tommy) Hosey of Charlotte and Carey (Tina) Hosey of Lansing; 14 nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles; and boyfriend, Mike Gillison Jr. of Grand Ledge.
Services were Oct. 30 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermontville.
