Susan J. Stanley
Susan J. Stanley, 57, of Continental, Ohio, died May 5, 1997, in Ottawa, Ohio.
Ms. Stanley was born July 31, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Arthur and Mary Jane (Chapel) Zimmerman. She was a member of the Defiance Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Stanley of Continental, Ohio, and Janey Moore of Charlotte; five grandchildren; Christopher and Ashley Stanley of Continental, Ohio, and Nicole, Benjamin and Emily Moore of Charlotte; and one sister, Judy Stanley of Rosedale, W.V.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Nancy Zimmerman.
Services were May 8 at the Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental, Ohio, with the Rev. Bob Sheppard officiating. Interment was in the Monroe Cemetery, Monroe Township, Ohio.

Clara F. Starkweather
Clara F. Starkweather, 92, of Alma, formerly of Charlotte, died Jan. 16, 1997.
Mrs. Starkweather was born Jan. 26, 1904, in Charlotte, the daughter of George and Daisy (Kingman) Goodnoe. She was an accountant for the state of Michigan in the 1930’s, then a secretary with Oldsmobile. She was a member of the Maple City Chapter #128 OES; former member of the Phythian Sisters, Manatee Ladies Shrine, All States Club OES; and the Sunshine Club, and a member of the First Congregational Church, Charlotte.
She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis (Douglas) Fletcher of Farwell and Beverly Howard of Ocala, Fla.; four grandchildren, Mark (Joanne) Fletcher of Mulliken, Cheryl Wilkie of Traverse City, David (Laura) Fletcher of Flint; and Patty Howard of Indiana; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Strickland of Hillsdale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence.
Services were Jan. 18 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Thomas Ball officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Inolene A. Steiner
Inolene A. Steiner, 82, of Charlotte died Jan. 16, 1997.
Mrs. Steiner was born June 15, 1914, in Searcy, Ark., the daughter of Divella and Grace (Bloyd) Harris. She was a clerk for J.J. Newberry 5 & 10 Store and Richey’s, both in Charlotte.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Jean (Edward) Steiner, and Evelyn Montague both of Charlotte; one son, James (Diane) Willis of Robbinsville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two half-brothers, Travis (Velma) Harris and Bill (Betty) Harris, both of Arkansas; and three half-sisters, Berry Jo (Carroll) Owens, Joyce (Byrum) Ahart, and Shirley (Euell) Davis all of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Forrest Willis; and her second husband, Albert Steiner.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services were Jan. 20 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment was in the Kalamo Cemetery, Eaton County.
Cynthia D. Stevens
Cynthia D. Stevens, 75, of Olivet died Jan. 5, 1997, at her residence after a long illness.
Mrs. Stevens was born in Winsted, Conn., the daughter of Frank and Martha (Harrison) DeMars and had resided in Olivet since 1956. She was a graduate of Winsted High School Class of 1939 and Tufts College, MA Class of 1943. She was a remedial reading teacher in the elementary grades of the Olivet Public Schools retiring in 1982 after 22 years of service. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Olivet Congregational Church UCC and it’s Cora Sexton Circle.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Arthur; four children, Margaret (Robert) Giles of Granby, Conn., Arthur (Joann) Stevens of Woodbury, N.J., James Stevens of Olivet, and Gregory (Diane) Stevens of Midland; seven grandchildren, Aimee and Michael Giles, Todd, Andy, and Greg Stevens, and Shelley and Adam Stevens; one sister, Martha Richards of Winsted, Conn.; and one brother, Frank DeMars of Winsted, Conn.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services were Jan. 11 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Clark Hock of the Olivet Congregational Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Olivet Congregational Church.
Hadley J. Stone
Hadley J. (Stoney) Stone, 78, of Charlotte died Oct. 17, 1997.
Mr. Stone was born June 19, 1919, in Towanda, Penn., the son of Joseph and Laura (Weaver) Stone. He worked for Oldsmobile as a Custodial Engineer and retired in 1980. He served in the Army Air Corp in World War II.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl (Mike) DeFrates and Connie (Dean) Peters both of Charlotte; one son, Tom of Charlotte; brother, Edward (Eleanor) Stone of Syracuse, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 20 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Pastor Robert Betts officiating. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
John J. Strang
John J. Strang, 42, of Holt died Nov. 14, 1997.
Mr. Strang was born July 1, 1955, in Walla Walla, Wash. He graduated from Mount Hope Church Bible Training Institute in 1944 in Pastoral Studies. He was a member of the Mount Hope International Outreach and he served his church in many areas. Mr. Strang worked for General Motors for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 5 years, Rebecca; two sons, Anthony (Sarina) Strang and Matthew Strang both of Lansing; two daughters, Jessica and Amy Cooley; one grandchild; three brothers, Don Underwood of Texas, Darwin (Sue) Underwood of Oregon, and Dell (Pat) Strang of Colorado; three sisters, Hannah (Richard) Nelson of Lansing, Mary (Edwin) Kohler of Bath, and Starla Underwood of Washington; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Linda; and father, Charles.
Services were Nov. 17 at Mount Hope International Outreach, Lansing, with the Rev. Edward Sans Gillis III officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Lansing, Inc. or the Mount Hope International Outreach.
Barbara I. Strank
Barbara I. (Myers) Strank, 71, died Aug. 14, 1997, at her residence.
Mrs. Strank was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Concord, the daughter of Harold and Pearl (Klopp) Myers. She was a school bus driver for the Eaton Rapids Public Schools, retiring in 1986 after 18 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Wendell; three sons, Gary (Carol) Strank of Iowa and David (Gail) Strank and Barry Strank, both of Eaton Rapids; and six grandchildren, Rebecca, Shannon, Laura, Daniel, Peter, and Alicia Strank.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Wayne; and one granddaughter, Wendy.
Services were Aug. 18 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Elder David Downie officiating. Interment was in the Plains Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Capitol Visiting Nurse and Hospice in memory of Barbara Strank.
Howard F. Streeter
Howard F. Streeter, 86, of Charlotte died Aug. 7, 1997, at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte after an extended illness.
Howard was born Sept. 2, 1910, in Courtland Twp., the son of Harmon D. and Lucy (Howard) Streeter. He has been a resident of Charlotte for 52 years, coming from Grand Rapids. He had been employed as a Feed Mill Manager for Minor-Walton Bean Co. in Grand Rapids and Charlotte retiring in 1976 after 44 years of service. Also, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a 50-year member of Greenwalt-Flaherty Post #42 American Legion in Charlotte. He was a life member of the Charlotte Lodge #120 F&AM, past high priest of #82 R.A.M., and life member of #37 Knights Templar (Commandery). He was also a member of the Saladin Shrine Temple, Grand Rapids, and the Eaton County Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dagmer (Kucera) Streeter; brother, Lloyd Streeter of Rockford; sister, Eunice Sovereign of Decar Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Glenn Streeter.
Services were Aug. 11 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. A. William Colson and Charlotte Lodge #120 F&AM officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Grand Rapids.
