Timothy A. Tennant
Timothy A. Tennant, 23, of Ferndale, formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Oct. 13, 1997.
Mr. Tennant was born May 10, 1974, in Eaton Rapids, the son of Ernest and Rozena (Hoffman) Tennant. He graduated from Olivet High School and in the spring of 1997 graduated from Michigan Tech University. He was working as an engineer for Chrysler Corp. He was a member of the society of Manufacturing Engineers and an Eagle Scout from Troop 647 in Olivet.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Troy (Casey) Tennant of Eaton Rapids and Kyle Tennant of Detroit; one sister, Tracy Tennant of Detroit; grandmother, Helen Hoffman of Grasslake; partner, Greg Hayter of Detroit; aunts and uncles; niece; and nephew.
Services were Oct. 18 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Clark Hock officiating. Interment of cremated remained was in Perry Cemetery, Brookfield Township. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Ann Virginia Tennes
Ann Virginia Tennes, 59, of Charlotte died June 10, 1997.
Mrs. Tennes was born Dec. 22, 1937, in Memphis, Tenn., the daughter of James Edward and Louise C. (Carson) Stalls. She had been co-owner/manager of the Country Mill since 1971, a psychiatric social worker with a master’s degree in psychiatric social work from St. Louis University, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Georgian Court College in Lakewood, N.J. She was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Michigan Horticultural Society.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard; son, Michael R. (Diana) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Eunice (Casey) Gragg of Reston, Va.; sons, Christopher R. and Stephen R. of Charlotte; five grandchildren; mother, Louise C. Stalls of Memphis, Tenn.; and brothers, James R. Stalls Jr. of Baton Rouge, La., and Robert Stalls of Memphis, Tenn.
Funeral Mass was June 13 at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Nenneau officiating. Interment was in Benton Township Cemetery.

Roy L. Thornton
Roy Lee Thornton, 76, of Three Notch, Ala., formerly of Olivet, died Nov. 25, 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Three Notch; one son, Raymond (Becky) of Union Springs, Ala.; three sisters, Beall (Richard) Ropers and Martha Thornton, both of Montgomery, Ala., and Lois (Roger) Morgan of Manchester, Conn.; three brothers, Clifford (Mary Nell) of Centre, Ala., and William (Frances) of Waverly, Tenn., and Cleta Thornton of Olivet; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Nov. 29 in Belle Eagle, Tenn.
Memorial contributions have been made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Heart or American Cancer Associations.
Margie M. Tow
Margie Mildred Tow, 92, of Onondaga, formerly of Charlotte died March 29, 1997.
Mrs. Tow was born April 21, 1904, in Isabella County, the daughter of John and Alta Landes. She was a homemaker in her own home.
She is survived by one son, James; three grandchildren, James, Jeff, and Annette; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Landes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, in 1990.
Services were April 1 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. William Muller officiating. Interment was in the Needmore Cemetery, Needmore.
Sarah V. Tracy
Sarah Velma Tracy, 87, of Eaton Rapids died Jan. 29, 1997.
Mrs. Tracy was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Sault Ste. Marie. She retired from the Eaton Stamping Company in 1975. She had previously been employed at Motor Wheel and R.O.E. Motors in Lansing.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harry; one daughter, Sharen Jo (Larry) Schneider of Lowell; three sons, James (Ethelda) Cataline of Eaton Rapids, Richard (Shirley) Cataline of Eaton Rapids, and William (Marilyn) Cataline of East Tawas; one daughter-in-law, Gladys Cataline of Eaton Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several brothers and sisters, including Leighton (Pat) Proctor of Middleville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Cataline.
Services were Feb. 2 at the Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with the Rev. Paul Frederick of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church of Lansing officiating. Interment was in the Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Elbert C. Travis
Elbert C. Travis, 77, of Vermontville died March 11, 1997.
Mr. Travis was born Oct. 5, 1919, in Nashville, the son of Guy and Eva (Seaman) Travis. He married Alice Harry on Aug. 31, 1940. He worked for General Foods for 32 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the 25 Year Club, Kalamo Historical Society, and a board member of the Kalamo Methodist Church, where he attended. He moved to Kalamo in 1954 where he farmed cattle as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; two daughters, Mary (Roy) Weldon of Albion, and Beverly (Robert) Hendershot of Climax; and four grandchildren, Rex Weldon, Scott Weldon, Holly Weldon, and Lori Hendershot.
Services were March 14 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamo United Methodist Church.
Donald A. Trumley
Donald A. Trumley, 92, formerly of Charlotte, died Aug. 1, 1997, in San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Trumley was born May 1, 1905, in Charlotte, the son of Elmer and Maude Trumley. He was the second of seven children. He retired from the General Accounting Office, Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; one sister, Elizabeth Hunt; one brother, Richard; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Francis; three brothers, Ernest, Elton, Darrell, and Robert; and one sister, Grace La Parl Rudisell.
A memorial service was held in San Antonio.

Fredrick Allen Van Antwerp Sr.
Fredrick Allen “Fred” Van Antwerp Sr., 77 of Grand Ledge, formerly of Sunfield, passed away Aug. 25, 1997, in Charlotte.
Mr. Van Antwerp was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Sunfield, the son of Elmer E. and Belle E. (Lockwood) Van Antwerp. He is a Veteran of WW II serving in the Army. He ran an insurance business in Sunfield for 25 years and was Emergency Services Director for Eaton County for 23 years, retiring in 1985. He was a longtime member of the Sunfield Lions Club, working on many Farmers Picnics. Mr. Van Antwerp was also a Volunteer fireman and a member of the F & AM Sunfield Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary M. Van Antwerp; three children, Fredrick Allen (Marilyn) Antwerp Jr. of Laingsburg, Christopher P. (Jill) Van Antwerp of Lowell, and Louann (Ed) Woodman of Charlotte; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer (Virginia) Van Antwerp of Lake Odessa.
Services were Aug. 28 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Sunfield, with the Rev. Clinton J. Galloway officiating. Interment was in the Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken.
