Harry V. Walker
Harry V. Walker, 79, of Charlotte died Nov. 24, 1997, at Michigan Capital Medical Center, Pennsylvania Campus, Lansing.
Mr. Walker was born in Olivet, the son of Otis Vern and Carerie (Van Orman) Walker and had been a life resident of Eaton County.
He was a 1936 graduate of Olivet High School, member of the First Congregational Church, Charlotte, life member of Olivet Lodge #267 F&AM, and the Eaton County Farm Bureau.
He had been a mail clerk at Michigan State University from 1946-82.
Prior to that, he worked for the former Blue ribbon Creamery in Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marjorie (Williamson); one daughter, Carol Ann Harter of Yorba Linda, Calif.; one son, Larry of Holt; five grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Ledyard of Charlotte.
Services were Nov. 26 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Peter Brenner and Olivet Lodge #267 F&AM officiating.
Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Mary Jane Ward
Mary Jane (Brunette) Ward, 52, of Sault Ste. Marie, formerly of Grand Ledge, died Dec. 5, 1997.
She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca (Rory) Goodwin of Gaylord; two sons, Michael (Wendy) of Sault Ste. Marie and Brian of Portage; six grandchildren; her father, Richard Brunette of Charlotte; two sisters, Bonnie Evart of Ionia and Denise Pate of Texas; one brother, Michael Brunette of Eaton Rapids; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mass was held Dec. 9 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Grand Ledge, with the Rev. Fr. Robert McGraw as celebrant.
Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge.
Arrangements were made by Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home.
Frances E. Warner
Frances E. Warner, 97, of Charlotte, formerly of Mulliken, died Sept. 19, 1997, at the Maplewood Adult Foster Care.
Mrs. Warner was born July 10, 1900, in Bowne Township, the daughter of David and Lydia (English) Holcomb.
She was a member of the Mulliken United Methodist Church and the Girls of Yesterday.
She is survived by one son, James (Edna) Warner of Charlotte; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul Holcomb of Florida and Gaylord Holcomb of Middleville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva, and one daughter, Marie.
Services were Sept. 22 at the Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Pastor Don Woolum officiating.
Interment was in the Meadowbrook Cemetery.
James R. Warner
James R. Warner, 73, of Charlotte died Nov. 24, 1997, at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Warner was born in Berlin Township, Ionia County, the son of Lewis and Frances Holkomb) Warner and had been a Charlotte resident since 1965.
He had been employed at Motor Wheel Corp., Lansing, retiring in 1980 after 36 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a life member of Maple City VFW Post #2406, Charlotte, Charlotte Eagles Aerie #3552, and the Oddfellow and Rebekah lodges, both of Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Mae (Maggard); one son, James (Kay) of Lansing; two daughters, Sharon (Tom) King of Onondaga and Bobbi (John) Voorhees of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepsons, Carroll (Nancy) Combs of Neon, Ken., and Harold Combs of Rodney; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Dawn Combs of Olivet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson, Darrell Combs, and one sister, Inez Marie Warner.
Services were Nov. 28 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Jeffrey Nunham and the Charlotte Oddfellow and Rebekah lodges officiating.
Military graveside services and interment were in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice.
Gary A. Watling
Gary A. Watling, 50, of Eaton Rapids died Jan. 14, 1997.
Mr. Watling was born Aug. 11, 1946, in Battle Creek, the son of Howard and Mary Emeretta (Rice) Watling.
He was a 1965 graduate of Charlotte High School and attended the Eaton Rapids Wesleyan Church.
He was a member of the Capital Area Sportsman’s League and was formerly employed at the VFW National Home, Eaton Rapids.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Charlene; son, James Watling of Lansing; brother, Glen Watling of Graham, WA; sister, Phyllis (Jon) Bodoly of Coldwater; father and mother-in-law, Anthony and Betty Proctor Sr. of Eaton Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Watling, and one sister, Doris Smith.
Services and tribute were Jan. 18 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with the Rev. Dennis Perkins officiating.
Interment was in the Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
