Clint Lee Knoblauch
Clint Lee Knoblauch, age 62, died June 21, 2000 in Reno, Nevada. He was born September 3, 1937 in Albion, MI, to Donald A. and Elizabeth Jane (Rutz) Knoblauch. He was a graduate of Washington Gardner High School and was a Navy Veteran. He was formerly employed as a chef. He enjoyed outdoor sports.
Surviving are 5 children; his father and 4 aunts.
Services will be held at a later date. Local arrangements are by Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels.
Donald Alfred Knoblauch
Donald Alfred Knoblauch, age 84 of Springport, died October 28, 2000 at Trillium Hospital, Albion. He was born October 20, 1916 in Albion, Michigan the son of Alfred and Agnes (Carlton) Knoblauch. He was a lifelong resident of the Albion area and a Journeyman Plumber working out of Plumber’s Union Local 333 in Jackson, MI until his retirement in 1981. He was a Navy Veteran & served in the Seabees during WWII. He was a member of the Elks, VFW & the DAV. He enjoyed sports and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane (Tompkins) in 1998; his former wife, Elizabeth (Rutz) Knoblauch; son, Clint Knoblauch and sister, Dorothy Hakes.
Surviving are his daughter, Erdean (Bill) Jason of Venice, FL; 3 sisters, Marge (Arlone) Wessborg of Haslett, MI, Pauline Eldridge of Lakeland, FL and Janice Delaney of East Lansing; and several grandchildren.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there is no visitation. Graveside Memorial Service was held Friday, November 3, 2000 at Albion Memory Gardens with Rev. Cameron South officiating. Arrangements made by the Albion Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels.
George F. Koos
George Frederick Koos, 89, of Charlotte died Nov. 7, 2000 in Charlotte.
Mr. Koos was a retired machinist of Lumberg Screw Products after 30 years of service and a retired dairy farmer. He was a charter member of the Dad’s Post #286 Charlotte and a member of Local #724, Lansing.
He is survived by two daughters, Betty Lou Ziegler and Melba Jane Kohler, both of Charlotte; three sons, Herman (Yvonne) of Grand Ledge and Merlin (Pat) and Charles (Nickie), both of Charlotte; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Spicer of Olivet.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; one son, Norman; and one granddaughter, Dawna.
Services are Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with the Rev. Rick McKenzie officiating. Interment is in the Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program or SIREN / Eaton Shelter.
Carl Kyser
Carl Kyser passed away at the age 67 on Thursday, February 17, 2000. He was at his home that he loved so dearly, following a valiant year long struggle with lung cancer and biliary caner. He was born June 21, 1932, the son of Guy and Magnolia (Lohness) Kyser in Hillsdale, Michigan. Carl was a Korean War veteran serving in the United States Army. He retired from Eaton Technologies in 1990 but continued to dedicate himself to volunteer work with the Eaton Community Hospice, the Robbins United Methodist Church, the American Red Cross, the American Legion, and the Eaton Rapids Medical Center. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Renee.
Surviving are his wife Margaret; his daughter, Elonda (Donald) Watts; his sons, Mark (Dori) Wilcox and Michael Raby; his grandchildren, Travis Watts, Dylan Secord, Kacey and Darren Spitzley, Travis and Micalyn Wilcox, Brian Krupinski; his brother, Duane; his sisters, Donna (Ron) Neill, Yvonne (Jerry) Letts, Judy (Dean) Zimmerman and Mary Ann (Will) Miller; Margaret’s family, her mother Marian Trombley; her sisters, Carolyn (William) Spyker, Katheryn (Joe) Pore, Loretta (William) Gaunt and many nieces and nephews. Carl will always be remembered as a devoted family man and true friend to many.
The family was served by the Skinner Funeral Home with services held on Monday, February 21st, at the Robbins United Methodist Church, Eaton Rapids, with the Rev. Dr. James P. Mitchum and Rev. Marty DeBow officiating. Full military honors were provided by the American Legion Post #15 Eaton Rapids at Rosehill Cemetery following the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Eaton Community Hospice, Robbins United Methodist Church or the Eaton Rapids Medical Center.
Berniece Landers
Berniece Mae Landers, 64, of Charlotte died Dec. 23, 1999.
Mrs. Landers was born May 3, 1935 in Clarence Township, Calhoun Co., the daughter of James and Elizabeth Butler.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Frank) Stellino of Lowell and Mary Landers of Charlotte; four sons, Gerald (Carol) of Cadillac, and Terry, Larry (Tammy), and Gary, all of Charlotte; her mother-in-law, Gertrude Landers; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Bernard Butler; and half-sister, Olive Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 1974.
Services were Dec. 27 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Eric Lankton
Eric Lankton, age 22 of Eaton Rapids, died Thursday, September 14, 2000 as the result of an auto accident in East Lansing. Eric was born January 6, 1978 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Fred Allen and Sally Jean (Gogarn) Lankton II. He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School, Class of 1997 and the Motorcycle Mechanic’s Institute in Arizona in 1999. Eric’s great passion in life was Motocross Racing and he was sponsored by the College Bike Shop in 1999 and Baldy’s Allbike in Eaton Rapids for the 2000 season. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred, in 1985.
Surviving are his son, Kody Andrew Lankton; mother, Sally J. Lankton, Fred (Patty) Lankton of Eaton Rapids, Henry (Lynn) Lankton of Leslie, Robert (April) Lankton of Eaton Rapids, Wade (Evie) Lankton of Onondaga; 2 sisters, Julie (Chris) Rumer of Arizona, Joanna Wherry of Eaton Rapids; 9 nieces and nephews, Zachary, Valerie, Victoria, Alexis, Autumn, Ashley, Robert Jr. and Ariel Lankton, Kenny Wherry; grandparents, Robert (Pauline) Gogarn of Lansing, Jean Gogarn of Lansing, Madonna Derstein of Stockbridge and Kody’s mother, Angela Hahn.
Funeral services were held September 18, 2000 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Stephen Klink officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the Gideon Memorial Bibles in memory of Eric Lankton. www.legacy.com.
DeWayne “D.C.” Laraway
DeWayne “D.C.” Laraway, age 71 of Eaton Rapids, died Saturday, August 26, 2000 in Eaton Rapids. DeWayne was born May 27, 1929 in Muskegon the son of Guy Charles and Beatrice (Hicks) Laraway. D.C. was the owner of several construction companies over the last 53 years including D.C. Laraway Co. and currently owned Diversified Construction.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Faye; 7 daughters, Linda Peck of Ann Arbor, Terri Ervin of Holt, Deborah (Thomas) Bartig of Jackson, Diana (Javier) Rodriguez of Lincoln Park, Kelli (Todd) Simpson of Kalkaska, Mary (Mark) Steinbrecher of Clinton Twp., Linda Lindquist of Shingleton; 4 sons, Bruce (Sue) Laraway of FL, Timothy Ervin of NV, Brian Ervin of Mason, Jeffrey Ervin of Holt; 25 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Ferris (Dawne) Laraway of FL; sister, Esther (Ray) Ramsey of Muskegon; nieces; nephews; many dear cousins; and close friends, Bob and Char Klont of Grayling.

Mildred Abbie Larsen
Mildred A. Larsen, age 91 of Eaton Rapids, died Tuesday, November 21, 2000 at the East Lansing Health Care Center. She was born January 30, 1909 in Eaton county, one of twelve children born to Henry W. and Nettie E. (Taylor) Peck. Mrs. Larsen was a retired press operator for the Eaton Stamping Company, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, a Life member of the Rebekah Sunshine Lodge #114, and was a very active member of the Eaton Rapids Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by husband, Ole Larsen in 1956; daughter, Lila Bauer in 1993; 8 sisters and 3 brothers.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Larsen (Rutgar) Hoag of Williamston; son-in-law, Robert (Barbara) Bauer of Lansing; Foster children, Wayne Pike and Rita Christensen both of Lansing; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 24th from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Dr. David D’Arcy of the First Congregational Church officiating. Interment followed in the Oakwood Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Pall bearers were Jeff Larsen, Mark Bauer, Ashley Frayre, John Bauer, Bob Bauer and Joe Forquer. For those desiring, a memorial contribution may be made to either the Eaton Rapids Senior Citizens or to the Michigan Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation in Southfield. The family of Mrs. Larsen would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care give by the staff at the East Lansing Health Care Center.
Duane J. Lawhead
Duane J. Lawhead, 79, of Travares, Fla., formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Nov. 22, 2000.
Mr. Lawhead was born Oct. 14, 1921 in Potterville, the son of Donald and Kathleen (Kinsel) Lawhead. He was a decorated Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a retired master metalsmith for aircraft, working for the United States Department of Defense, and a member of Masonic Lodge #1283, all of Eaton Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Fay; one daughter, Dorothy Parsley of Florida; two sons, Dennis of Eaton Rapids and David of Onstead; two stepsons, Jack Swan of Colorado and Steven Siegrest of Hawaii; three stepdaughters, Beth Seltenright of Florida, Anita Chateauneuf of New Hampshire, and Esther Emswiler of Battle Creek; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Service were Nov. 28 at the Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Interment was in the Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, with full military honors provided by the Greater Eaton Rapids Area Veterans Association.

Dr. John Lawther
Dr. John Lawther, 95, of Owosso, formerly of Charlotte, died May 6, 2000 at Hospice of Mid-Michigan, Lansing.
Dr. Lawther was born Feb. 16, 1905 in Clarkston, the son of John and Isabel (Pennell) Lawther. He took undergraduate studies at Albion College and graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1931. He practiced medicine in Michigan for 50 years, first in Charlotte and later in Hartford. He was a story teller, philosopher, music lover, avid reader and devoted grandfather.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Harold) Sherman Smith of Eaton Rapids and Joanne (Arthur) Hupp of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; one son, John (Betty) of Grand Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean (McCall) in 1942; three brothers, two sisters, and one grandson, John Scott Lawther in 1986.
Memorial services were May 10 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Tom Evans officiating.

Helen L. LeSeney
Helen Louise (Northrup) LeSeney, 79, of Charlotte died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000. Mrs. LeSeney was born Sept. 23, 1920 in Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Louise (Duff) Edington. She was associated with the Eaton Farm Bureau, Eagle Aerie #3552, and was a former president of the Landrace Swine Association.
She is survived by two sons, Ron (Barbara) LeSeney of Lansing and Bill (Grace) LeSeney of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, Steven, Lisa, Michael and Laurie; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Jennifer, Bryan and Megan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn in 1987.
Services were Aug. 9, at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte. Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, Charlotte, or the Eaton County Community Hospice, usic Scholarship Fund, Olivet College, Olivet.
James E. Lightner
James E. Lightner, 63, of Vermontville, died Aug. 21, 2000.
Mr. Lightner was born Sept. 3, 1936 in Charlotte, the son of Harry and Janet Lightner. He had served in the U.S. Army and was a janitor for Maple Valley Schools.
He is survived by his wife, Lois (Trowbridge); four daughters, Janice (Dave) Powell of Mulliken, Norma (Ross) Drake of Nashville, Susan (Troy) Clements of Grand Ledge and Betsy (Robert) Richardson of Albion; six grandchildren; his mother, Janet Haff; three sisters, Audrey (Bud) Ommen of Vermontville, Margaret (Roy) French and Linda White, both of Charlotte; and one brother, Gary Lightner of Charlotte.
Services were Aug. 24 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Jeffrey Bowman officiating. Interment was in the Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
