Catherine L. Finch
Catherine L. Finch, age 89, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000 in Holt. Catherine was born May 19, 1911 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Harry Pete and Florence (Hamlin) Walworth. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Eaton Rapids. Mrs. Finch was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis and brother, Kenneth Walworth.
Surviving are her son, Herbert Finch of Eaton Rapids; 2 brothers, Lyle (Inez) Walworth of Jackson and Victor (Jean) Walworth of South Carolina.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 26, 2000 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the Eaton Rapids Senior Center in memory of Catherine Finch.
Hildegrade Fink (Gemalsky, Cook)
Hildegrade Fink (Gemalsky, Cook) age 67, died April 7, 2000 in Vicksburg, MI. Mrs. Fink was born November 3, 1933 in Eaton Rapids. She was the daughter of Julius and Emma (Keehn) Gemalsky.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie May Cook, and 3 sons, Garry L., Barry L. and Lawry Gene Cook all of Cleveland, Ohio. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Ella Ewing of Holt and Gertrude Norris of Eaton Rapids and 1 brother, Leon Gemalsky also of Eaton Rapids. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Kurt, Irvin, Ronald and Gayheart (Pete) Gemalsky and 1 sister, Letha McKenzie.
Graveside services were held at Roselawn Cemetery in Eaton Rapids on April 11, 2000 with Rev. Mark Eckert presiding.
Gaylord O. Fisher
Gaylord Otis Fisher, 85, of Charlotte, died July 29, 2000.
Mr. Fisher was born June 6, 1914 in Eaton County, the son of William and Nellie (Bartholomew) Fisher.
He is survived by three daughters, Carol (Lynn) Sumerix of Eaton Rapids, Joann (Stephen) Tinsley of Richardson, Texas, and Brenda (William) Apt of Bellingham, Wash.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Della (Don) Stanke of Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mae (Root) in 1995; two sons, Jeffery Lynn in 1977 and William Eric in 1981; two sisters, Edna and Bernice; and one brother, Floyd.
Graveside services were Aug. 1 at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte, with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Linda Fisher
Linda Lou (Lundeen) Fisher, 53, of Newaygo died Jan. 22, 2000 at Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont.
Mrs. Fisher was born April 12, 1946 in Charlotte, that daughter of Theodore and Dorothy (Allen) Lundeen. She graduated from Charlotte High School in 1964 and worked for the State of Michigan Department of Treasury for several years. She married George Fisher June 10, 1981 in Charlotte. She had been a resident of the Newaygo area since 1987, where she was a homemaker. She had been a member of the First Church of God in Charlotte.
She is survived by one daughter, Lucinda Fisher of White Cloud; one son, John (Debbie) Fisher of Hesparia; one granddaughter, Hannah Lynn Fisher; two step grandchildren, Jerry North and Bobbie Jo La Porte; one sister, Florence (Robert) Donley of Charlotte; and three brothers, Bill (Cecelia) Lundeen and Jim (Alice) Lundeen, both of Charlotte, and Richard Lundeen of Newaygo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, George, in 1993.
Cremation has taken place. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Byron Fleming
Byron Fleming, 92, of Charlotte died March 25, 2000 at Mapleknoll Manor in Charlotte.
Mr. Byron was born July 25, 1907 in Convoy, Ohio, the son of Russell and Jessie (Pyle) Fleming, and had been a Charlotte resident since 1988, coming from Indianapolis, Ind. He was a graduate of Shepherd High School and had been an insurance adjuster and branch manager for Auto Owners Insurance Co., where he worked from 1937 until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, Jubilee Lodge #746 F/7AM in Whiteland, Ind.; and Charlotte Lodge #120 F&AM.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters, Carole (Wendell) Somers of Charlotte and Judith (Chris) Whiteman of Lakeland, Fla.; five grandchildren, either great-grandchildren; and one sister, Isobel Keller of Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha (Rice) in 1992 and one daughter, Louise Propps in 1980.
Services were March 30 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment was in the Salt River Cemetery, Shepherd.

Donna Fleming
Donna Fleming, 91, of Charlotte died April 11, 2000.
Mrs. Fleming was born Dec. 16, 1908 in Iron Mountain, the daughter of Owen and Matie (Starkweather) Griffin. She was a graduate of Charlotte High School in 1926 and a 1927 graduate of the Eaton County Normal School. She was married to Lewie Matthews in 1927 until his death in 1971. She was married to Melvin Smith in 1973 until his death in 1983. She was married to Byron Fleming in 1993 until his death in March, 2000. She taught school in Eaton County for nine years, and worked as a bookkeeper for Community Oil Co. for 32 years. She was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, an avid musician and former member of the Kitchen Band and Methodist Marvels.
She is survived by one stepdaughter, Carroll (Wendell) Somers of Charlotte; one stepson, Doug Smith of Sarasota, Fla.; local nephew and nieces, Wayne Lesher of Lansing, Louise (Hubert) Barbour of Charlotte and Dee Thornhill of Eaton Rapids, and five other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three husbands and one brother and sister-in-law, Max and Ruby Griffin.
Services were April 14 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment was in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.

Alice Forell
Alice Edna Forell, 89, of Charlotte, died June 24, 2000 following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Forell was born in Iron River, the daughter of John and Edna (Warner) Forell. She was a bacteriologist for the State of Michigan Laboratory, retiring in 1980 and had been a nurse for the Army at Liela Post Hospital, Battle Creek.
She is survived by one brother, Jack (Frances) Forell of Charlotte; one sister, Olive Moffit; one niece and four nephews; nine great-nieces and nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.
Services were June 27 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Larry Young officiating. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Burleigh Forseman
Burleigh Forseman, 74, of Three Rivers, died June 9, 2000 at Riverview Manor, Three Rivers, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Forseman was born in Flint July 10, 1925, the son of Henry and Pearl (LaDue) Forseman. He served in the Naval Reserve from 1942-45, and United States Navy from 1945-47 as storekeeper aviation third. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, American Area Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He was employed for several years at Continental Can Co. and Wells Index, Three Rivers, and owned and operated for several years the Popcorn Stand that is now located in Scidmore Park. He was a past member and former Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge #1248, Three Rivers, and a Past Commander of American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Pullman, Marcie Weatherwax and Debra (Skip) Abel, all of Three Rivers; two sons, Michael (Barb) of Grand Rapids and Patrick of Parchment; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces, Bonnie (Paul) Blatt of Dunedin, Fla., and Jessica (Jerry) Ponkey of Belmont; his former wife, Jacqueline (Niendorf) Sayer; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step- mother, Helen Forseman; one sister, Virginia Harshey; one granddaughter, Ashleigh Nicole Forseman; and his good friend, Red Gabbard.
Memorial services were June 14 at the Hohner Funeral Home, Three Rivers, with the Rev. Lawrence Farris officiating. Interment of cremains was at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek.

Jenetta Fountain
Jenetta Veliquette Fountain, 88, of Ceresco, died April 15, 2000 at Battle Creek Health System, following a short illness.
Mrs. Fountain was born Dec. 27, 1911 in Lucas County, Ohio, the daughter of Moses and Nova (Large) DeCant. She had been a resident of the Olivet and Marshall areas most of her life. She was a homemaker, and married Preston Velliquette Nov. 27, 1929 in Allegan. After his death, she married Donald Fountain Aug. 23, 1986 in Battle Creek. She formerly attended the South Side Bible Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In her earlier years, many social activities at Marshall House, where she lived.
She is survived by two daughters, Dolores Crosby of Athens and Janet Wygant of Battle Creek; four stepchildren, Shirley Damon of Marshall, Joan Ranger of Battle Creek, Sharon Osborne of Portage and Jerry Fountain of Battle Creek; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nina Barnes of Marshall and Goldia Robinson of Westbranch.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Preston Velliquette Dec. 27, 1968 and Donald Fountain March 17, 2000; and six sisters.
Services were April 18 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, Marshall, with Pastor Michael Brown officiating. Interment was in the Oakridge Cemetery, Marshall.

Beatrice Fruin
Beatrice Irene Fruin, 83, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000 at Evergreen Manor.
Mrs. Fruin was born April 23, 1916 to Willis and Alice (Clark) Morrison, in Spring Arbor. She attended Battle Creek Central High School and worked at Post Cereals, from 1943 until 1946, where she met her future husband, Traverse Fruin. They were married May 14, 1948; he died in 1989. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Harger of Battle Creek and Barbara Martin of Athens; one son, Arthur of Battle Creek; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Traverse; her parents; one sister, Vivian Steele; three brothers, Wendell Eastman, Hubert Hamp and Eugene Morrison; and one grandson, Duane Harger.
Graveside services were Feb. 19 at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
Arrangements were made by the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
