Gabriel J. J. Howe
Gabriel Josiah Jackson Howe, 4, of Charlotte, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000.
Gabriel was born Feb. 21, 1996, in Lansing.
Surviving are his parents, Richard and Kathleen (Lippert) Howe; brothers, Adam Quintela with the U.S. Navy, Keith Howe of Lansing, and D’Andre Jackson and Kenneth Turner, both of Ypsilanti; a sister, Danielle Turner of Ypsilanti; grandparents, Gary Jackson of Mason, R.J. and Delphine Lippert of Ithaca, and Joyce Howe of Eaton Rapids; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services were held Aug. 14 at the Olivet First Assembly of God, with Rev. Douglas Hammond officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Ministry at Olivet First Assembly of God. Envelopes are available at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, or at the church.

Gleason Iams
Gleason Lee Iams, 42, of Eaton Rapids died May 300, 2000 in Eaton Rapids.
Mr. Iams was born March 9, 1958 in Charlotte, the son of Gleason and Melva (Bearndt) Iams. He had been a truck driver with NTB Trucking.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly; three daughters, Rabeca Buck, Elizabeth Buck, and Robin Iams; one son, Robert; two sisters, Iris Brown of Plymouth and Jody (Butch) DeWaters of Charlotte; and one brother, Charles (Kimberly) of Eaton Rapids.
Graveside services were June 2 at the Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Mark Woodbury of the Charlotte Assembly of God officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Iams Children Education Fund.
Lois Irene Ide
Rejoice Dear Hearts and do not cry-I did not die-but only change in a twinkling of an eye-to join my savior in the sky. I’ll wait for you there and joyfully we’ll be together again, for Eternity. The heart of our family started her new journey Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at the age of 65. Until we meet again, her kindness, her laugh, her sweetness and her dark happy eyes will be deeply missed. Her love of birds, her flower gardens and her many trips to their place on the lake gave her great happiness and peace. She loved her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, her husband and her children with all her heart.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Denis Ide and her six beautiful children, Valerie (Paul) Weston, Marguerite Smith, Denis Ide, Martha (Steve) Graves and Elizabeth (Paul) McCalla, plus nine dear grandchildren, Kelly, Trinity, Sean, Jacob, Joshua, Hannah, Victoria, Justin and Garrett who were in her prayers and part of her life always.
Visitation for family and friends was held at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids on Friday. Final Services will be with her immediate family in a private ceremony. Karrie E. Ingram
Karrie Ellen Ingram, 42, of Charlotte, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000.
Mrs. Ingram was born July 6, 1958 in Lansing, the daughter of Robert and Maxine (Allen) Waite. She was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Eaton County Sheriff Posse. She was also the deli manager for the Charlotte Felpausch store, where she had worked for 13 years.
Surviving are her husband, Eric Ingram of Charlotte; daughter, Kaylee Ingram of North Lawrence, Ohio; sons, Marty Lake of Potterville and Sam Ingram of Charlotte; father, Robert (Menta) Waite of Hastings and Ronald (Carol) Waite of Texas; an aunt, Joyce McElrath of Lansing; and, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, and daughter, Christina Lake in 1992.
Memorial services were held Oct. 13 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. George Fleming officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Colonel David K. Jackson
Colonel David K. Jackson (Retired) age 62 of Eaton Rapids, died Monday, July 17, 2000 in Lansing. David was born August 25, 1937 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Herbert Lester and Marion Elizabeth (Tomlinson) Jackson. He graduated from MSU in the ROTC Program, which led to a 30 year career in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as Colonel. He served in several foreign countries and during the Johnson Administration he was stationed on Air Force One. While serving his country he obtained his PhD in education administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He continued to broaden his educational horizons through practical “hands on” classes so he could enjoy his numerous hobbies such as stained glass, auto body (restoring a roadster), gardening, canning, wood working and clock restoration. His desire had always been to retire to his hometown of Eaton Rapids where his other passion was teaching and sharing with the students at the Eaton Rapids Middle School.
Surviving are his wife, Lee Druskis Jackson; daughter, Captains Laurie (Dean) Frazier stationed in Germany; son, Steve Jackson of San Rafael, CA; 3 brothers, Wayne (Karen) Jackson of Eaton Rapids, Leroy (Karen) Jackson of Illinois, Dean (Marcia) Jackson of Eaton Rapids; 3 sisters, T. Joan (Paul) Barsdale of North Carolina, Linda (Glen) Meyer of Eaton Rapids and Ilene McCarthy of Eaton Rapids; several aunts, including Betty Sharland of Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews and long time friend Mary Twigg of Eaton Lansing.
Funeral services was held on Friday, July 21, 2000, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Military Honors presented by Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Florence C. Jackson
Florence C. Jackson, age 89, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000 in Springfield, Ohio. Florence was born June 27, 1911 in Onstead, the daughter of George Edward and Georginia Eliza (Armstrong) White. She was a member of the Eaton Rapids First United Methodist Church. Florence graduated from Eastern Michigan University, Class of 1941, and taught in the Michigan public schools for 39 years with 25 years in the Eaton Rapids schools. She was a member of the National, State and County Education Associations and very active in the Eaton Rapids Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, in 1989; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Crow in 1980 and Bonita Cisco in 1997; and brother, Dr. Edward White in 1988.
Florence is survived by 3 nephews, Chris J. (Brenda) White of Bakersfield, CA, Sam (Chris) White of Visalia, CA, Eric (Terri) Crow of Springfield OH; 3 nieces, Susan Tovar of Tulare, CAL, Ann (Gerald) Baker of Springfield, OH, Connie McBrayer of Flat Rock, NC; 7 grandnephews and 8 grandnieces.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 1, 2000, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Tom Evans of the Eaton Rapids First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to either the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Eaton Rapids Medical Center Building Fund in memory of Florence Jackson.
Edward Jecks
Edward Jecks, age 67, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at his home. Ed was born July 31, 1932 in Morristown, TN, to parents Leon A. and Mary (Fulton) Jecks. He has been a builder in the Eaton Rapids area for over 29 years, during which he has built over 400 homes. Ed semi-retired in 1994 and remained active in the family home building business. He volunteered his time with handicapped children in the Eaton Special Riding Volunteers Association of Charlotte for many years. Mr. Jecks was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Strang in 1989 and his brother, Alfred Jecks in 1991.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lorena; 6 children, Steven Jecks, James (Trina) Jecks brother of Eaton Rapids, Daniel (Wendy) Jecks of Wixom, Carolyn (Steve) Suckow of L.A., Sandra (Edgar) Martinez of Washington, D.C., and Joseph Jecks of Gross Pointe; 8 grandchildren, Jason Jecks, Anthony & Matthew Strang, Travis & Jacob Jecks, Ryan Weidner, Tony Jecks, and Ariana Martinez; 2 great-grandchildren, Adrianne Strang & Chandler Strang; sister, Dorothy Baker of Eaton Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at the Wesleyan Church, 6044 S. Clinton Tr., Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Stephen Klink officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery with casket bearers Don Anderson, Mark E. Risner, Roger Love, Dennis Baker, Dave Baker and Ron Wittman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Special Riding Volunteers Association or Eaton Community Hospice in memory of Edward Jecks.
Grace M. Jennings
Grace M. Jennings, age 95 of Eaton Rapids, died Sunday, August 27, 2000 in Lansing. Grace was born January 30, 1905 in Shepherd, the daughter of John Adam and Lottie Elizabeth (Richmond) Vicary. Mrs. Jennings was a retired teacher from Michigan Public Schools. She was a member of the Eaton Rapids First Congregational Church, the Napoleon Chapter #328 Order of the Eastern Star, the U & I Club of Eaton Rapids, the Community Hospital Auxiliary and the Eaton County Retired Teachers. Her husband, Paul, preceded her in death in 1986.
Surviving are her daughter, Constance Leseney of Lansing; 3 grandchildren, Shari Wilson, Renee Sheerin, Lori Richmond; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; 1 niece; 1 nephew and several cousins.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 29, 2000 at the First Congregational Church, Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Dr. David L. D’Arcy officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of your choice in memory of Grace M. Jennings. Jerold Jermain
Jerold “Jerry” Jermain, 84, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000.
Mr. Jermain was born May 23, 1916 in Alpena, the son of Walter and Maude (Stevens) Jermain. He was in the Army during World War II, was a life member of VFW Post #2406, a member of American Legion Post #42, the Eagle Aerie # 3552, and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Marshall. He was also a square dance enthusiast with the Bellevue Whirlaways and Wagon Wheels. He worked as a delivery person for Model Coverall of Lansing.
Surviving are his companion for the past 17 years, Helen Bracy of Battle Creek; daughter, Marie (Stan) Venton; son, Gary Jermain; grandsons, Scott (Michelle) Venton and Jim (Michele) Venton; two great-grandchildren, Bryan and Kelsey, all of Vermontville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis in Nov. 1981; and a sister, Jean Barber in Dec. 1979.
Funeral services were held Oct. 19 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Robert H. Jewell
Robert Harry Jewell, 68, of Charlotte died Dec. 10, 2000.
Mr. Jewell was born Jan. 19, 1932 in Olivet, the son of Jerry and Flora (Bealefeld) Jewell. He had been involved in law enforcement as a police officer for the cities of Charlotte Eaton Rapids and as an Eaton County Sheriff’s deputy. He had also been a professional photographer, real estate agent, printer for the Charlotte Shopping Guide, and former member of the Charlotte Fire Department. His health had been poor for the last few years, but he always had a smile and a “hello” for everyone. He was generous and always willing to help. The past year, he enjoyed going to the restaurant on his motorized scooter and visiting with his friends over coffee.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marcia (Potter); one daughter, Annette (Ted) Dills of Grand Ledge; two sons, Randy (Cindy) and Scott (Nikki), both of Charlotte; four granddaughters, Heather, Hannah, Whittney and Courtney; one grandson, Hunter; one sister, Lucy Howard of Battle Creek; three brothers, Jerry Jr. and Floyd (Sally), both of Charlotte, and Paul of California; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gideon.
Services held Dec. 14 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Windle Davis officiating. Interment was in the Woodland Cemetery, Woodland.

Lois Johnson
Lois An Johnson, 85, of Adrian, formerly of Charlotte, died June 10, 2000.
Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 11, 1914 in Macon County, Tenn., the daughter of Carlene and Maggie (Waldron) Meador. She had surgery at the age of 12 on a foot deformed by polio. She was in the hospital for three months and it was then that she decided to become a nurse. She graduated from the Chicago School of Nursing in 1941 and came to Charlotte that year. Her husband, Hubert Johnson, was of draft age and when she applied for work at the Charlotte hospital, the money she would have been paid would not have been enough to pay for uniforms and shoes. She went to work at the Charlotte Chair Factory. She taught school in a one-room schoolhouse, kindergarten through eighth grade, and taught third grade Sunday School for seven years at the Free Methodist Church, where she was a member. Her education was mostly from mail orders. She took at sewing class at Singer Sewing, but used that knowledge to serve her family rather than earn money. She did mending and alterations, mostly for free, but a close friend, Eythe Bohn, once gave her $4 for hemming two shirts.
She is survived by one daughter, Mea Dora (Mark) Salemka; one grandson, Matthew Salemka of Adrian; two nieces; one nephew; several grand nieces and nephews; several grand-grand-nieces; and on grand-grand-grandniece.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert July 30, 1995; and close friend, Eythe Bohn.
Services were June 12 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Charles Kruger officiating. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
