James W. Norton
James W. Norton, age 67 of Lake Odessa, formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Monday, July 24, 2000 at his residence following a long illness. He was born May 22, 1933 in Perrington, MI, the son of Charles and Thelma Norton. Jim and wife Joyce owned and operated the Norton Party Store in Eaton Rapids for several years. He was a Too & Die Maker and owned and operated Satterlee Machining for 15 years in Eaton Rapids, retiring after health problems. He was a member of the Brookfield Masonic Lodge and was affiliated with the Brookfield United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death is a brother, Roland Norton.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Joyce; 3 daughters, Deborah (Steve) Haman of DeWitt, April (Dan) Balger of Okemos and Karen (Charles) Ambs of Hudsonville; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brother, John (Jackie) Norton of Albion; 3 sisters, Sandra (Ron) Guilloz of Ann Arbor, Nancy Barnes of Albion and June Shirley of Lake George; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Thursday, July 27, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday 2 hours previous to the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Eaton Rapids Medical Center in memory of James Norton.
Edsel Page
Edsel Page, 72, of Vermontville, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000 at Ingham Medical Center, Lansing.
Mr. Page was born Nov. 24, 1927 in Gleason, Tenn., the son of Jesse and Ione (Brawner) Page. He married Mildred Aylor on Nov. 21, 1948 in McKenzie, Tenn. He retired from General Motors Corp. in Lansing in 1980, after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Nashville Lions Club, the Mid-Michigan Mule & Donkey Association, and entered and showed his mules at various fairs, especially in Detroit, and internationally.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred; children, Rena (Gene) Boucher of Memphis, Tenn., Edsel Page Jr., Lanny (Margaret) Page of Memphis, Tenn., Sheri (Al) Reynolds of Vermontville, Kristie (David) Trimble of Sarasota, Fla., Ben Page of Nashville, John (Theresa) Page of Grand Ledge; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Seth Page, and a brother, Eugene Page.
Services were held Jan. 6 at Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville, and Jan. 7 at New Valley United Methodist Church, Gleason, Tenn. Interment was at New Valley Cemetery, Gleason, Tenn.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Lions Club.

David Pardee
David Pardee, 52, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2000.
Mr. Pardee was born in Big Rapids on June 20, 1947, the son of Rev. George and Alice (Marlette) Pardee, who preceded him in death. He attended Eastern High School in Lansing, and was employed by the Republican Tribune in Charlotte for several years. He had worked for General Motors for the past 24 years. The past few years of his employment at General Motors, he coordinated plant tours for the Lansing plants. Besides his love for his family, and enjoyment working with people, he was an avid Elvis fan, loved computers, cars and traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly Ann Pardee; three children, Tim (Deb) Julson of Rochester Hills, Cindy (Don) Hoffman of DeWitt, Tom (Heather) Julson of Portage; eight grandchildren, Donald Randy Hoffman, Thomas Delbert Hoffman, David Leland Hoffman, Kristina Ann Hoffman, Victoria Ann Julson, Matthew Taylor Hoffman, Nicolette Cheri Julson, Alexander Grant Julson; sister, Ruth (Wayne) McDonell of Palmer, Alaska; brother, George Winfield (Sally) Pardee Jr. of Belleville, Ill.; four brothers, all of which reunited with David in 1990 after years of separation, Leslie (Dottie) White of Vian, O.K., David White of West Suffield, Conn., Gary (Vicki) White of Greenfield, Mass., and Larry White of East Hampton, Mass.
Funeral services were held March 23 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lansing, with Rev. James Schalkhauser and Rev. James Lichtenberger officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Florence V. Parr
Florence V. Parr, 91, of Grand Ledge, Michigan, died Thursday, January 16, 2000. Mrs. Parr was born March 9, 1908 in Gratiot County, Michigan the daughter of Roy and Elsie (Rogers) Crossette. She attended Grand Ledge Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Parr, son Jerry (Cheryl) Parr of Haslett and four grandchildren; Stephen, Eric, Kyle and Heidi.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2000 at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Christopher Brauns officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Ledge Baptist Church or Eaton Community Hospice.
Mona M. Parsons
Mona M. Parsons, age 81 of Eaton Rapids, died Saturday, December 16, 2000 at a Lansing hospital. She was born October 1, 1919 in Flint, Michigan one of 13 children born to George and Daisy (Hoffman) Tanner. Mrs. Parsons worked for Fisher Body during World War II in the Sewing Room and later, from 1957 through 1975, worked for the Flashes Shopper’s Guide & News in Eaton Rapids as Ad Composition Coordinator. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #241 in Eaton Rapids. Preceding her in death was her husband Alfred James Parsons on July 6, 1979.
Surviving are 4 children, daughter, Sandra Kay (James) Spitler of Stoney Lake, MI, 3 sons, Dan (Judy) Parsons, Ron (Nancy) Parsons and Greg Parsons all of Eaton Rapids; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; 9 brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20th, at 11 a.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Tom Evans of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. For those desiring, a memorial contribution may be made to the American Heart Association at 271 Woodland Pass, Suite 110, East Lansing, Michigan, 48823-2060 in memory of Mona M. Parsons.
Barbara Paton
Barbara (Davis) Paton, 71, of Olivet, formerly of Charlotte, died Jan. 23, 2000 at her residence.
Mrs. Paton was born Nov. 29, 1928 in Charlotte, the daughter of Leigh and Beatrice (Rogers) Davis, and had been an Olivet resident for 30 years, coming from Charlotte. She was a graduate of Charlotte High School, had been employed as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. in Charlotte, and was a former member of the Eaton Art League.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane Swift of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Pamela (Donald) Andrews of Charlotte and Sheila (Larry) Siefert of Springport; one son, Michael of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roger Davis of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1983; her parents; and two brothers, Richard and Robert Davis.
Private services have been held.

Gertrude F. Pease
Gertrude F. Pease, 82, of Nashville, died Sunday, Oct. 29 at Battle Creek Health System.
Mrs. Pease was born July 13, 1918 in Mulliken, the daughter of Kenneth and Eva (Dartch) Balley. She married Clifford Pease of June 30, 1940, and worked several years as a nurse’s aide in the Bellevue and Charlotte areas. She was a life member of Kalamo OES, and active with the Kalamo Methodist Church, where she was a choir director and Sunday school teacher. She played the piano and harmonica, and enjoyed reading, crocheting, and, crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Surviving are her husband, Clifford; daughters, Helen (Ernest) White of Quincy, Sharon (Paul Sr.) Franklin of Nashville and Barbara (Charles Sr.) Schutt of Algonac; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a step-brother, Dennis Jones of Montana; and a sister-in-law, Norma Bailey of Florida.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Thems; and brothers, Robert Bailey and Martin Bailey in infancy.
Services were held Nov. 2 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery, Kalamo.

Harry A. Pease
Harry A. Pease, 73, of Kalamo Twp., died Aug. 30 at his home.
Mr. Pease was born Dec. 6, 1926 in Kalamo Twp., the son of Edward and Carrie (Bowen) Pease. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1944 and was employed with Post Cereals, Battle Creek, for 33 ˝ years. He was a member of the Kalamo United Methodist Church, a Past Master of Kalamo Masonic Lodge #327, F&AM; a Past Worthy Patron of Kalamo Chapter #339 Order of Eastern Star; and a member of the Bedford Royal Arch Masons, Bellevue Lions Club, and the Post 25-Year Club. He was also an administrative leader of 4-H. He married Frances Barker on June 23, 1951 in Kalamo.
He is survived by three daughters, Constance Campbell of Kennebunk, Maine, Kathryn Jarvis of Hastings and Jacqueline Pease of St. Augustine, Fla.; two sons, Carl of Kalamo and Edward of Middleville; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Franks of Vermontville and Mary Eisenlord of Battle Creek; and two brothers, Edward of Charlotte and Clifford of Nashville.
He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph in 1983; and two sisters, Hazel Goode and Mabel Hamilton; and two brothers, Floyd, Donald and George.
Services were Sept. 2 at Bellevue UMC with Pastor Mark Thompson and Kalamo Masonic Lodge #327 F&AM officiating. Interment was in the Hillside Cemetery, Kalamo Twp. Arrangements were made by the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellevue Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
Ivan Henry Peck
Ivan Henry Peck, age 82 of Lansing, died Tuesday, September 26, 2000. He was born March 23, 1918 in Eaton Rapids, the son of David and Ethel (Zentmyer) Peck. Mr. Peck was a retired Supervisor for the State of Michigan, a life member of the I.O.O.F. in Bellaire and a member of the Eagles in Holt. Preceded him in death were his wives Olive (Shelton) and Virginia (Potter).
Surviving are 5 children, Charlene (Jerry) James of Horton, David (Glenda) Peck of Mason, Lucinda (Charles) Harrison of Norfolk, VA, Penny Peck of Norfolk, VA, and Evelee Williams of Sun City, CA; 2 step-children, Richard (Dorothy) Warner of Texas and Judy Vstula of DeWitt; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sister, Bea (George) Long of Eaton Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. The family is being served through the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
Jeannine G. (LaCroix) Perry
Jeannine G. (LaCroix) Perry of Pulaski, Tennessee, formerly of Eaton Rapids, died May 17, 2000 as the result of an auto accident.
Surviving are her husband of 16 years, Matthew, son Aaron and daughter Sarah all of Pulaski; brother, John LaCroix of Detroit, MI; sister, Michele LaCroix of Boston, MA.
There will be no funeral services.
Eleanor Peterson
Eleanor Peterson, 87, of Lansing, died May 23, 2000 at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth Rathbun, in Vermontville Township.
Mrs. Peterson was born May 14, 1913 in Owosso, the daughter of Charles and Martilla (Ferris) Townsend. She was retired from the Michigan Secretary of State.
She is survived by five daughters, Ruth Ann Peterson of Lansing, Sharon Davis of Mason, Nancy Gallegos of Austin, Texas, Elizabeth (Robert) Rathbun of Vermontville and Jane (Mike) Johnson of Dimondale; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one niece.
Services were May 26 at Field & Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale, with the Rev. John Toth officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso.
Jessie M. Pierce
Jessie Pierce, 96, of Bellevue died July 27, 2000 at Marshall Manor.
Mrs. Pierce was born Jan. 9, 1904 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Phencil Lorenzo and Annie (Brunton) Morris. She married Elston Pierce Aug. 8, 1921. She was a member of the Bellevue First Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Anna Swank of Harrison, Ardell Torres of Pennfield, and Letha Clift and Eltha Pierce, both of Bellevue; one son, Richard Eugene of Bellevue; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sons, Elston Jr., Rodney and Leonard.
Graveside services were July 31 at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue, with Rev. Don Francis officiating. Arrangements were made by the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
