Gary Robinson
Gary Wayne Robinson, 56, of Charlotte, died Dec. 28, 1999.
Mr. Robinson was born Nov. 13, 1943 in West Branch, the son of Henry and Lois (Dunbar) Robinson. He was a member of Charlotte VFW Post #2406, past master of Masonic Lodge #314 of Ishpeming, past patron Hematite of OES Chapter #190, past associate Bethel Guardian of Bethel #12, past governor of Marquette Moose Lodge, a Shriner and past president of the Ishpeming Rotary Club. He had been an emergency medical technician with the Ishpeming Ambulance Service and an EMT instructor/trainer. He taught professional military education at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base, serving with the U.S. Air Force from 1961-81, and in Vietnam, and retired as a MSGT. HE was an insurance agent for 16 years and for the past three years, a network administrator for the Grand Hotel of Mackinac Island and Okemos.
He is survived by his wife, Nina (Cobb); four daughters, Samantha (Chris) Durrett, Christina Robinson (and her fiancée, Rod McKinnis), Hope Robinson, and Elizabeth (John) Wasey; five grandchildren; and his parents.
Memorial services were Dec. 30 at the St. John’s Episcopal Church, Charlotte, with the Rev. Dr. Carol Spangenberg officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Faith Rogers
Faith Starrett Rogers, 91, of Battle Creek, died Tuesday, Feb. 29 at Tendercare Riverside.
Mrs. Rogers was born Sept. 24, 1908 to Joseph and Effie (Koons) Starrett in Grand Rapids. She worked in the laundry at Ft. Custer, at the William Morgan Facility in Marshall, and Detroit Waste Works in Battle Creek.
Surviving are a daughter, Irene Hill of Bellevue; sons, Robert Delaphiano Jr. of Gun Lake, and John Delaphiano of Assyria Twp.; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Robert Delaphiano Sr., and Charles Rogers; grandson, Joe Delaphiano, who was killed while serving in the Marine Corps in Vietnam in 1970; and by granddaughter, Karen Wensloff in 1980.
Graveside services were held March 2 at Wilcox Cemetery, Maple Grove Twp.

James B. Rogers
James B. Rogers, age 68, of Eaton Rapids died Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at a Lansing hospital. He was born March 20, 1931 in Muskegon, Michigan the son of Elmer and Bertha (Dyer) Rogers. Jim was a retired employee of Federal Drop Forge in Lansing. He was preceded in death by his son Jimmie Rodgers; and 3 brothers, Bud, Sidney and Jake.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Ordelia (Babe); 2 children, Trudy (Merrill) Shelden and Rodney (Christine) Rogers all of Eaton Rapids; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Beulah Rogers of St. Johns and Alice Cook of Casa Grande, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 4th, from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Stephen Klink of the Community Christian Church officiating. Burial followed in the Bunker Cemetery in rural Eaton Rapids. Casket bearers were grandsons, Jeff Dassance, Jacob Rogers, Snapper Shelden, Sidney Shelden, Brent Dyer and Richard Rogers; honorary bearers were Levi Rogers and Ned Palmer.
Betty Root
Betty Jean Root, 68, of Charlotte died March 15, 2000.
Mrs. Root was born July 11, 1931 in Wolf Lake, Ill., the daughter of Ralph and Myrtle (Patrick) McLane. She gave unconditional love as she raised her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Merlin; four daughters, Jill (Bill) Feasal of Mulliken. Cathy Root (John Landis) of Woodland, and Jodie Rininger (Mike Feistner) and Lisa (Martin) French, both of Charlotte; two sons, Merlin (Alana) of Charlotte and Kevin of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several step-grandchildren; five sisters, Lela Lake, Evelyn VanDeMoortel, Ellen Green, Judy (Bill) Converse of Florida and Thelma (Jim) Mayhew; one brother, Ollen (Connie) McLane; one sister-in-law, Betty McLane of Charlotte; two brothers-in-law, Glen (Virginia) Root of Charlotte and Wilbur (Tillie) Root of Lansing; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ralph McLane.
Services were March 18 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Dick McLane and the Rev. Mike McLane officiating. Interment was in the Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken.

Kathleen Root
Kathleen Root, 78, of Vermontville, died Monday, July 17, 2000.
Mrs. Root was born Sept. 16, 1921 in Detroit, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Parsons) Cranson. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Cedric; three sons, Michael (Vicki) of Marshall and James of Deland, Fla; one daughter, Cindy (Dennis) Walker of Vermontville; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Evert Cranson of Vermontville, Bryce Cranson of Harrison and Jack Cranson of Milan; and, sister, June Davis of Mo.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tiffany.
Services were July 19 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Steve Doty officiating. Interment was in the Gresham Cemetery, Chester Township.

David Rose
David Lyle Rose, 45, of Tulsa, Okla., died Jan. 15, 2000 in Tulsa.
Mr. Rose was born in Eaton Rapids, the son of John Rose and Juanita Rose Jan. 13, 1955. He lived in Colorado and California before moving to Tulsa in 1990. He was in the sheetrock construction business, and was married to Scarlette Rose, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his mother, Juanita Rose of Charlotte; daughter, Leslie Rose of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Judy (Andy) Kozora of Charlotte; brothers, John (Gladys) Rose of Olivet, Bruce Rose of Lake Tahoe, Nev., and Paul Rose of Charlotte; friend, Cindy Rose of Tulsa; and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Scarlette, and his father, John Rose in 1985.
Memorial services were held Jan. 19 at the Kennard Funeral Chapel, Broken Arrow, Okla., with the Rev. Keith Mills officiating.
Local memorial services are Saturday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, Charlotte.
Wallace Rose
Wallace Rose, 87, of Pleasant, Valley, W.V., died July 15, 2000 at Fairmont General Hospital, Fairmont, W.V.
Mr. Rose was born in Prestonburg, Ken., Dec. 26, 1912, the son of George and Susie (Rucker) Rose. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He retired from the decorating department of Owens-Illinois Glass Plant, Fairmont, W.V., retiring in 1972 with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Owenizers group and Quarter Century Club, both of the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant. He was one of the founding charter members and the first loan officer of the Owenized Credit Union, now Fairmont Federal Credit Union, Fairmont. He was a veteran of World War II U.S. Army and a graduate of Prestonsburg High School. He was a member of the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church and BPO Elks Lodge #294 Fairmont.
He is survived by one daughter, Donna (Sherrill) Allen of Charlotte; two sons, Roger (Judy) of Lady Lake, Fla. And Wally Jr. (Bev) of Fairmont, W.V.; two sisters, Vivian Byrd of Pensacola, Fla. and Margaret Perry of Huntington, W.V.; six grandchildren, Lori (John) Lilly of Fairmont, W.V., Bethanie of Fairmont, Dean of Frederick, Md., Susan Elizabeth (Jeff) Martin of Bedford, Va., Sherry (Ed) Allen of Charlotte, Kathy Sue (Ken) Cole of Perry; and seven great-grandchildren, Kylie and Tyler Allen, Kyler and Hollyn Rose, and, Josh, Katie and Christopher Martin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Virginia Parsley Rose March 14, 1989; one sister, Opal McClung; three brothers, Alfred, Paul and Orville; and one daughter-in-law, Debbie Hall Rose.
Services were July 18 at the Ford Funeral Home, Inc., Fairmont, with Frank Spevock officiating. Interment was in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Fairmont.
Judith Ross
Judith (Faust) Ross, 59, of Rudyard, died Aug. 15, 2000 at War Memorial Hospital, Sault Ste. Marie.
Mrs. Ross was born Sept. 8, 1940 in Vermontville. She graduated from Vermontville High School with the class of 1958, and continued her education at Ferris State College graduating with an associates degree in secretarial skills. She also attended Northwest Christian College in Minneapolis, Minn. She married her husband Ken on Aug. 29, 1964 in Vermontville. They were married for 36 years and resided on their family farm in Rudyard.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; three sons, Wayne (Dawn) of Petoskey, Russell (fiancée-Kelly) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Gerald (Amanda) of Linden; four grandchildren, twin boys Adam and David Ross, Rebekah Ross and Rachael Ross; three sisters, Marlene (Richard) Lewellyn of Vermontville, Yvonne (Mickey) Henry of Wayland and Diane (Dennis) Houdek of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, James Faust of Vermontville and Douglas (Mary Lou) Faust of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Aubra Faust.
Services were Aug. 18 at the Reamer Funeral Home, Pickford, with Rev. LeRoy Case officiating. Interment was in the Oaklawn Chapel Gardens, Rudyard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rudyard Ambulance Corps or Rudyard High School Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Carol Ann (Dexter) Rowlee
Carol Ann (Dexter) Rowlee, age 60, of Covert died June 27, 2000, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. Carol was born January 14, 1940 in Jackson, Michigan, to Donald and Myrtle Kilburn Dexter. She was a homemaker and will be deeply missed by her loved ones.
Survivors include two daughters, Tamara Davis and Brandy (Edward) Dailey, both of Covert; a son, Douglas (Tamara) Elston of Berrien Springs; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra (Skip) Brown of Eaton Rapids; and 2 brothers, Thomas (Sandra) Dexter of Charlotte and Donald (Suzanna) Dexter, Jr. of Dimondale. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Jeremy Rowlee.
Prayer services were held June 30th at Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs with burial in Covert Cemetery. Pall bearers were Skip, Tim, & Tom Brown; Tony Dexter; Michael & Joshua Rowlee. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Jack L. Rowse
Jack Lee Rowse, 67, of Bellevue, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000 at his home.
Mr. Rowse was born Oct. 10, 1932 in Battle Creek, the son of Herbert and Pauline (Yeomans) Rowse. He attended Pennfield Schools and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1950. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1952-56 in Pensacola, Fla., as a flight mechanic. Mr. Rowse worked for 32 years at Post Division of General Foods as an electrician, and retired from there in 1989. He also worked at the Battle Creek Lowe’s store in the electrical department from the time the store opened until 1999. He married Barbara Sealock on July 3, 1955. Mr. Rowse was a member of the Post 25 year club and a former member of United Cereal-Bakery and Food Workers Local 374. He enjoyed following both his children and grandchildren in their athletic and other events. He was a former scoutmaster and coach of his children’s sports, enjoyed watching sports on TV, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Barbara; daughter, Julie (Larry) Rutherford of Orlando, Fla., Pam Felter of Battle Creek and Dawn (Dan) King of Palm Harbor, Fla.; sons, Jack (Linda) Rowse of Battle Creek and Timothy (Julia) Rowse of Hastings; six grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Nicholls and Grace Weever, both of Battle Creek; and brothers, Herbert Rowse and Robert Rowse, both of Battle Creek.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Rowse.
Funeral services were held Aug. 15 at the Farley-Estes and Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery.
