Victor H. Walworth
Victor H. Walworth, age 83, of Columbia, SC, died Aug. 15, 2000. He was born in Eaton Rapids, MI, the son of the late Harry and Florence Hamlin Walworth. Before moving to Columbia in 1975, he had lived in Florida for 20 years. He was retired from the Federal Credit Union as Examiner. Mr. Walworth had previously worked with the National Credit Union Administration in Washington, D.C. He received a Bachelors Degree in Art Studio in 1988 and Master Degree in 1995 from the University of South Carolina. He was a member of St. Simon and St. Jude Episcopal Church and was an Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Jean M. Walworth; daughters, Victoria W. Leeke of Blythewood and Johnna S. Metzler of Columbia; son, Peter B. Walworth of East Grand Rapids, MI; brother, Lyle Walworth of Jackson, MI and 7 grandchildren. Mr. Walworth was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria P. Walworth; sister, Catherine Finch and brother, Kenneth Walworth.
Funeral services were held Aug. 18, 2000 at St. Simon and St. Jude Episcopal Church with inturnment in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to St. Simon and St. Jude Episcopal Church, 1110 Kinley Road, Irmo, SC 29063. Arrangements were by Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel.
Evelyn Waterbury
Evelyn Waterbury, 76, of Convis Township, died May 4, 2000 at home.
Mrs. Waterbury was born May 27, 1923 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Russell and Dora (Fisk) Eadie. She attended Battle Creek Central High School and married William Francis Waterbury, July 22, 1939. She enjoyed bird watching, flower gardening, reading, music and doing craft. She was a long-time member of the Bellevue First Baptist Church, where she was active in youth work and taught Sunday School.
She is survived by one son, Eugene of Bellevue; one sister, Geraldine Eadie of Battle Creek; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Francis Dec. 29, 1989; two children at birth; and three brothers, Alvin and LaVern Rounds, and Carl Eadie.
Services were May 8 at the Bellevue First Baptist Church with Pastor Donald Francis officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue. Arrangements were made by the Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellevue First Baptist Church.
Douglas Watson
Douglas Daniel Watson, 43, of Albion died May 5, 2000 at the Albion Trillium Hospital after being stricken at his home.
Mr. Watson was born Oct. 10, 1956 in Marshall, the son of Daniel Boone and Laura (Cole) Watson. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He had been employed by Tesnic Cable Co., Tampa, Fla., and installed cables for computers all over the country. His previous employment was with the Johnson Iron Co., Charlotte. He had also owned his own auto parts and speed shop in Charlotte. For a short time, he lived in Ft. Myers, Fla., and while there, owned and operated his own car lot and auto body repair shop. On Sept. 6, 1975, he married Carolyn Benjamin in Springport.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; one daughter, Aimee Watson of North Fr. Myers, Fla.; one son, Ryan at home; four sisters, Emma Coker of Coldwater, Polly Sebolt of Hart, Brenda Berchtold of Charlotte, and Lonna Pickett of Holland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Neitzka; and four brothers, Jack, Jerry, Terry and Gary.
Services were May 9 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, Marshall. Interment was in the Rice Creek Cemetery, Lee Township, Calhoun County.

David Weaver
David Lou Weaver, 69, of Charlotte, died Jan. 20, 2000 at home.
Mr. Weaver was born April 15, 1930 in Shipshewana, Ind., the son of Ralph and Olive (Troyer) Weaver. He attended Goshen College and Purdue University and had been a fish biologist for the Department of Natural Resources for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. He raised hay and cattle on his farm after retiring and was an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Diane (Wawiernia); two daughters, Rhonda (Tom) Blosser of Goshen, Ind. And Anna (Ben) Yoder of Middlebury, Ind.; two sons, Eric (Cathy) and Kirk, both of Charlotte; one stepdaughter, Jessica Kirby at home; two stepsons, Ben Kirby of Wisconsin and Erin Kirby of Holland; six grandchildren; one sister, Harriet (Ken) Warren of LaGrange, Ind.; and brother, Joe (Gail) Bontrager of Scranton, Penn.
Cremation has taken place.
A Family Affirmation Service was held Jan. 29 at the Sunfield United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Francis Weeks
Francis (Murphy) Weeks, 74, of Olivet, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000 at Battle Creek Health System, Leila Site.
She was born at Partello in Lee Twp., of Calhoun Co., the daughter of Joseph and Freda (Heisler) Murphy, and was a lifelong area resident. She had been a self-employed hair stylist, was a member of the 50+ Fellowship at Charlotte Assembly of God, the Singles in Action at the Olivet First Assembly of God, and was a charter member of the Charlotte Eagles. Her hobbies were bowling, garage sales, square dancing, crocheting, traveling, flea markets and enjoying her family.
Surviving are three sons, Milton (Alice) Weeks of Grand Rapids, Leo (Marilyn) Weeks of Olivet and Larry (Jean) Weeks of Shelby; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence (Charlene) Murphy of Bellevue, Sidney (Pat) Murphy and Leon (Sharon) Murphy, both of Olivet.
Funeral services were held Feb. 15 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Pastor Todd McLane and Pastor David Ames officiating. Interment was at Clarence Center Cemetery, Clarence Twp., Calhoun Co.

Freeda Wells
Freeda Wells, 59, of Newport, Ark., formerly of Charlotte and Barryton, died June 4, 2000 in Little Rock, Ark.
Mrs. Wells was born Oct. 10, 1940 in Tuckerman, Ark.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Taunton of Hersey; one son, Wallace Taunton of Greenville; two grandchildren, Kristina and Rebecka; three step-children, Patsy Towe and Betty Wells, both of Charlotte, and Tom Wells of Detroit; two step-grandchildren; four sisters, Wanda Wells and Olean Matheney, both of Charlotte, and Ruth (Ralph) Tucker and Bernice Skaggs, both of Tuckerman; and one brother, Bill (Virginia) Matheney of Alameda, Calif.
Services were held in Newport, Ark. Interment was in the Gracelawn Cemetery, Tuckerman.
Vera Wells-Stallings
Vera Wells-Stallings, 83, of Welaka, Fla. formerly of Vermontville, died March 4, 2000, in a Florida hospital.
Mrs. Wells-Stallings was born near Portland, Tenn. June 28, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Bessie (Chumbley) Vernon. As a young child, she moved to Vermontville and lived there until 1992. She married Ralph Wells and they had two sons, Charles and Douglas. After Ralph died in 1992, she moved to Florida, where she met and married George Stallings Jan. 1, 1995.
She is survived by her husband, George; two sons, Charles Wells of Battle Creek and Douglas (Jane) Wells of Pomona Park, Fla.; eight grandchildren, David, Dawn, Denise, Debbie, Susan, Charles, Jason and Doug; five step children, Carl (Neville) Stallings, Wayman (Jean) Stallings, Ormand (Ruby) Stallings, Homer (Brenda) Stallings, and Annette (Kirby) Sykes, all of the Palatka, Fla. area; several step grandchildren; and step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph, in 1992.
Graveside services were March 8 at the Hillside Cemetery, Kalamo, with R. Raymond Rossell officiating. Arrangements were made by the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vermontville Ambulance or Maple Valley Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
Phyllis Welch
Phyllis Irene Welch, 74, of Charlotte died May 9, 2000.
Mrs. Welch was born June 9, 1925 in Eaton County, the daughter of George and Elsie (Mason) Reed. She worked in packaging for Aluminum Extrusions.
She is survived by one daughter, Jane Anne (Neil) King of Charlotte; two sons, Rex of Charlotte, and David (Sally) of Bellevue; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian (Gerald) Terry; and one brother, Roger (Donna) Reed.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Services were May 11 at the Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with the Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating. Interment was in the West Carmel Cemetery, Carmel Township.
