Helen J. Banks
Mrs. Helen J. Banks, 74, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte.
Mrs. Banks was born in St. Clair Shores on Feb. 22, 1931, the daughter of the late John A. and Edna M. (Willsie) Craner. Helen was raised in Ontario, Canada and attended schools there. She moved to Farmington, Mich. after finishing her schooling, where she met her husband, Howard. The couple was married Oct. 30, 1955 in Farmington. After being married, they relocated to the Charlotte area where they made their home and raised their family together. Helen was a Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years. She enjoyed canning and fishing with her husband, Howard.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Howard; sons, Gerald (Kathy) Banks, Keith (Laurie) Banks; sisters, Evelyn, Mary and Louise; a brother, John; six grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 4 at the Charlotte Assembly of God, with Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment was at Center Eaton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton County Hospice. Arrangements were by Daniels Funeral Home. Nashville.
Hubert L. Barbour
Hubert Leonard Barbour, 91, of Charlotte, died Friday, May 20, 2005.
Mr. Barbour was born May 13, 1914 in Erwin, N.C., the son of George L. and Tamesiah (Temple) Barbour. He was a retired sales representative for Walker Shoe Company.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, A. Louise (Griffin) Barbour; son, Kevin M. (Cathy) Barbour of Linden; daughter, Kimberly L. (Tom) Prudent of Charlotte; grandchildren, Michael Smith, Matthew Pruden, Paul Smith and Josh Pruden.
He was preceded in death by sisters Beatrice Ward, Ethel Bowden and Thelma Wheeler.
A memorial service was held May 23 at Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, Charlotte; with Rev. Kendall A. Lewis officiating.

Ivan Barner
Ivan Douglas Barner, 59, of Sunfield, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at a Lansing hospital.
Ivan was born Jan. 12, 1946 in Mount Pleasant, the son of Dennis Barner and Vera Agnes (Hunter, Barner, Sabin). Ivan was a welder by trade in the Army from 1963 to 1965, with two years in the reserves. He was a member of Lansing FA & M Lodge 33, VFW Post 4909 and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing music - lead, rhythm and bass guitar, banjo, fiddle, drums, and mandolin little key board.
Surviving are: his friend and wife of 39 years, Jill Ann (Meyers) Barner; son, Jonathan (Eileen) Barner of California; daughter, Tammy (Quentin) Blocker of Lansing; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; stepbrother, Richard (Tara) Sabin of Lansing; stepmother, Louise Barner of Mulliken; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield, with Howard Meyers officiating.

Janet Jean Barnes
Janet Jean Barnes, age 68, of Stanton, formerly of Onondaga, passed away Friday, June 3, 2005 at her home. Janet was born October 9, 1936 in Bessemer Twp, MI, the daughter of Carl and Ina (Kangas) Lahti. She retired from Eaton Stamping in Eaton Rapids in 1995 after 22 years of service. She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Elmer Esterline and Dean Jokela.
Janet is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald J.; 2 daughters, Norine (Ken) Moore of Springport and Peggy (Brian) Ross of Eaton Rapids; 7 grandchildren, Michelle, Sarah & Kim Moore and Spc. Ruben (Bethany) Pena, Sierra Pena, Rebekah & Samuel Ross; 1 brother, Carl (Capt. Terri) Lahti, Jr; 6 sisters, Elaine Esterline, El (Pete) Johnston, Donna (Larry) Pipkin, Sharon (Tom) Laabs, Karen (Bob) Conley, Darla Jokela; and several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids with interment following at Tompkins Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Those desiring may make memorial conations to Hospice of Michigan, Big Rapids in memory of Janet Barnes.
Donis A. Barnett
Donis Arlene Barnett, 86, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005.
Mrs. Barnett was born June 25, 1918 in Olivet, the daughter of Elmer Van and Florence (Porter) Bowser. She was a member of Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church of Charlotte.
She is survived by son, Gary (Sandra) Barnett of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Judy (Dale) Barr of Olivet; son, Dennis (Susan) Barnett of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Barnett, in 1989; her parents; and a brother, Kenneth Bowser.
Funeral services were held May 27 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Kendall Lewis officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church or the Charlotte Public Library.
Leon R. Barnett
Leon Raymond Barnett, 83, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005.
Mr. Barnett was born June 3, 1921 in Illmo, MO, the son of Lee B. and Tressa (McLane) Barnett. Leon served in Italy with the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a radar specialist. He returned form the war and worked as an inspector for Wilcox Gay. He was a TV technician working for various companies and retired form Barker Fowler Electric in Lansing. He was a member of Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church and VFW Post 701 of Lansing. He enjoyed reading gardening, working with his hands and putting together models. He was past president of the Charlotte Band Boosters. After his retirement he enjoyed doing things for his family, including looking after his granddaughter Rebecca and his other grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Portia A. (Craven) Barnett; son, Jeffrey L. (Diana) Barnett of Simi Valley, Calif.; daughters, Joy (Jack E.) Cummings of Charlotte, Robin (Bernell) Morgan of Eaton Rapids; 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Leroy, Charles and Benjamin Barnett. Funeral services were held Feb. 19 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Interment was at Brickyard Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton County Medial Care Facility.
Rev. Carl F. Barrett
Rev. Carl F. Barrett, 76, of Eaton Rapids, died Aug. 10, 2005 in Charlotte.
Carl was born May 10, 1929 in North Branch, the son of Cyrus Earl and Hazel (Butterfield) Barrett. He was a former pastor, instrumental in building the Eaton Rapids Wesleyan Church, and past president of the Eaton Rapids Kiwanis Club.
Rev. Barrett was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth, and a sister, Thelma Bowman.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Marya; three children, Donna (Rick) Sederlund of Charlotte, David (Laura) Barrett of Eaton Rapids, Denise (Scott) Berry of Scotts; seven grandchildren, Adam (Jenni) and Derek Sederlund, Marc, Amanda, and Carly Barrett, Lisha and Emily Berry; great granddaughter, Ellie; two brothers, Earl (Esther) Barrett of Burton, Alton (Dorothy) Barrett of North Branch; sister, Helen Worgess of North Branch; brother-in-law, Alvin Bowman of Flint; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Aug. 13 at the Eaton Rapids Wesleyan Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the Eaton Rapids Wesleyan Church or Eaton Community Hospice. Arrangements were by Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
Everett F. Bartlett
Everett F. Bartlett, 65, of Lorida, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at his home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1939, to Henry and Ethel (Ankley) Bartlett, in Charlotte, and had been a resident of Lorida since 1994, coming from Charlotte. He was a factory worker for General Motors and a member of the Eagles in Charlotte.
He is survived by his son, Richard Barlett of Sarasota, Fla.; sisters, Carol Garve of Michigan, Dorothy Winright of Florida, Shirley Bartlett of Michigan; and a brother, Roy Bartlett of Michigan.
Cremation arrangements were by Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring, Fla.
