Hilda M. Bienz
Hilda M. Bienz, age 88, of Okemos, formerly of Eaton Rapids, passed away peacefully at her home with the loving care of her family and Hospice on Friday, June 3, 2005. She was born April 29, 1917 in Brookfield Twp., the daughter of Cecil and Kathryn (Arksey) Swan. Hilda and her husband owned C&H Tool & Die Co. of Jackson, retiring in 1977. She was a life member of the Eaton rapids Eastern Star #241, a Brownie Leader in Lansing and A Girl Scout Leader in Okemos. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clifford Bienz, and her sister, Maxine Stebbins of Charlotte.
Hilda is survived by two daughters, Karlee Kaye Best of Palm Coast, FL, Tonda Lee (Leonard) Gordon of Lansing; five grandchildren, James (Amy) Olmstead, Jason Best, David Gordon, Leslie Gordon, Karen (Weston) Wiler; three great grandsons, Brogan and Colton Wiler, Aden Olmstead; one brother, James (June) Swan of Eaton Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. Although we will miss her, we take comfort in knowing she is at home with her husband, friends, and her Heavenly Father.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 6 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids. An Order of the Eastern Star service was held on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing in memory of Hilda Bienz.
Anthony J. Bivins
Anthony “Tony” James Bivins, 20, of Charlotte, died Sunday, March 20, 2005.
Mrs. Bivins was born Oct. 10, 1984 in Jackson, the son of John and Chyleene (Ambrose) Bivins. Tony attended the Charlotte Assembly of God. He loved sports, especially basketball.
He is survived by his parents, brother Keith and sister Brandy; grandparents, Betty (Dan Doolitte) Ambrose, Keith and Carol Ambrose, Charles and Lora Standfell; great grandparents, Floyd and Bertha Davis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held March 24 at Charlotte Assembly of God, with Rev. Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements were by Pray funeral Home, Charlotte.
Frank Blanchard Jr.
Frank F. Blanchard Jr., 69, of Charlotte, passed away Jan. 10, 2005 in Lansing.
Frank was a retired heavy equipment operator with 35 years of service for the Operating Engineers Union Local 324 and loved his dog, Sam.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank F. Sr. and Berniece Mae (Graves) Blanchard.
Surviving are his sons, Frank F. III (Brenda) of Mulliken and Todd R. of Charlotte; grandchildren, Todd V., Monique, and Dustin Blanchard, Brandon Myers, Justin Morris, Nicole Weller, Brady Myers and Kyle Myers; brother, Ronald Blanchard of Grand Ledge; and sister, Joyce Leonard of Grand Blanc.
Services were held Jan. 14 at Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with Rev. Robert Etzel of Independent Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed at Union Cemetery, Oneida Township, Eaton County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Needmore Independent Baptist Church Building Fund or the Eagle Park.
Earl Boehmer
Earl W. Boehmer, 78, of Bellevue, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
Earl was born June 25, 1927 in Royal Oak, the son of Lewis and Monica (Henne) Boehmer. He was a 9145 graduate of Rochester High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, being discharged from the service upon the death of his father, returning home to care for his mother and sister. Earl was a lifelong farmer and a self-employed plumber. He had been employed in the Detroit Air Defense Sector, Vahs Standard Service and Top Notch Heating & Plumbing of Olivet, Behnke Plumbing and Hayes Green Beach Hospital of Charlotte, and Olivet College. With his wife, he owned and operated the former Bib-N-Tucker Restaurant in Olivet. He was a former Kalamo Township supervisor and assessor, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Charlotte and the Eaton County Farm Bureau, and had been active in the Spaulding 4-H Club. He enjoyed going to McDonald’s for coffee.
Surviving are his special friend, Frances Pease of Bellevue; five children, Mary Ann (John) Gehrig of Marshall, Robert (Mary) Boehmer of Bellevue, Earl (Kristin) Boehmer of Olivet, James (Spring) Boehmer of Olivet and Mark (Debora) Boehmer of Olivet; 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Boughton of Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 48 years, Thela Ann (DeLong) Boehmer, on March 12, 2001.
Mass of the Christian Burial was held Nov. 29 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte, with Fr. Douglas Osborn officiating. Interment was at Kalamo (Hillside) Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Bartolacci Scholarship Fund or Eaton Community Hospice. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Steven Bohus
Steven Alexander Bohus, 48, of Charlotte, passed away Nov. 23, 2005.
Steven was born April 3, 1957 in Charlotte, the son of Stefan and Gloria (Pena) Bohus, and was a resident of Eaton County most of his life. Steven was passionate about ministry and traveled to Africa and South America as a missionary, and worked in conjunction with local and national governments to establish medical and dental clinics abroad. He cared deeply for the poor and worked to ease suffering wherever he saw it. After starting a nonprofit organization, International Family Care Services, Steven worked tirelessly to ship equipment and supplies to those who needed it most. Most recently he spearheaded a major relief effort for those suffering after the hurricanes in the south and filled a large container with equipment to be shipped to Iraq. Steven could liven any occasion with his sense of humor and booming laugh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stefan Bohus; mother, Gloria Bohus; and brothers, John and Michael Bohus.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy (Parish) Bohus; children, Steven Bohus, Christine (Daniel) Schoettle and Leslie Bohus; sisters, Sandra Haman, Diana LaClair, Nancy Firlan, Carol Fox and Linda Strittmater; and a brother, David Bohus.
Funeral services were held Nov. 28 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Glen Ellis officiating. Interment was at Gresham Cemetery.

Darwin Bolles
Darwin “Butch” Bolles, 59, of Charlotte, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005.
Mr. Bolles was born Oct. 3, 1945 in Muskegon, the son of Leonard and Florence (Palmer) Bolles. He was a machinist at Dart container and was the owner of Belles Cutter Grinding. He was family oriented and always had a shoulder available to lean on. Mr. Bolles enjoyed his model trains, rebuilding computers, reading and bird watching.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sisters, Mary (Richard) Gargett of Lansing and Barbara (Martin) Greene of Spring Lake.
Funeral services were held Sept. 28 at Potterville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Becky Morrison officiating. Interment was at Center Eaton Cemetery in Charlotte.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Gladys R. Booth
Gladys Ruth Booth, 93, of Charlotte, died Friday, June 24, 2005.
Mrs. Booth was born Dec. 18, 1911 in Arenac, the daughter of William Washington Edmonds and Zoa Glover. She is fondly remembered by generations as the “candy lady” at G.C. Murphy’s Dimestore in Charlotte, where she worked as a clerk until her retirement in 1975. She also previously worked at Wilcox Gay in Charlotte and during World War II, at the Eaton Corporation in Battle Creek. She was a Red Cross volunteer at Hayes Green Beach Hospital and a member of Rebekah Lodge NO. 68 for 75 years, as well as a member of Order of the Eastern Star. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, and collecting rocks from around the country to border her flower gardens. She belonged to Calvary Baptist church in Charlotte.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucille Hogle of Charlotte; grandchildren, T.K. (Dan) Banks of Climax, Tammy (Kirk) French of Charlotte, Chuck (Shelley) Hogle of Sharps Chapel, Tenn.; great grandchildren, Melissa (Joe) Kane of Chicago, Ill., Andrew Banks of Climax, Tyler French, Ashley French and Amanda French, all of Charlotte, Austin Hogle of North Carolina, Megan and Cameron Hogle, both of Tennessee; and a brother, Clare Edmonds of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Booth; son-in-law, Norman Hogle; and six brothers.
Funeral services were held June 28 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Brad McLure officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill cemetery in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Norma Bosworth
Norma A. Bosworth, 95, of Grand Ledge, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 26, 2005 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, Charlotte, following a short illness.
Mrs. Bosworth was born Sept. 17, 1910 in Vermontville, a daughter of Douglas and Nora (Grant) McNabb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don E. “Stub” Bosworth, in 1994.
Surviving are two daughter, Barbara Allen of New Port Richey, Fla. and Karen McGlaughlin of Charlotte; one son, Edwin (Ruth) Bosworth of Cadillac; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; loving companion, Max; very special friend, Pat Simpson; and her care-givers, Betty Davidson, Karen Halliwill and Holly Hartsuff.
Services were held Oct. 29 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Charles Jenson officiating. Interment was at Sunfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were LaVell Howe, Chantz Large, Don Rogers, Greg Simpson, Jeremy Williams and Marty Williams.
